A woman who explained why she would not change her Facebook profile picture to the French flag in the wake of the Paris terror attacks has seen the post go viral.
Charlotte Farhan wrote an emotive post about why she would not be following the trend of having the French colours over her picture to show support to the victims,
She explained that as there are victims of terrorism across the world every day, she would have to change the flag every single time such an atrocity was carried out.
She wrote: “I won’t be changing my profile to the French flag even though I am French and from Paris.

“The reason for this is that if I did this for only Paris this would be wrong.
“If I did this for every attack on the world, I would have to change my profile everyday several times a day.
“My heart is with the world, no borders, no hierarchy, I hold every human’s life with value who is attacked by extremist beliefs whether they are based on religion, prejudice or profit!”
Despite millions changing their pictures on Facebook, Charlotte’s post seemed to strike a chord and it was shared more than 88,000 times.
Some felt compelled to comment and agreed with her sentiments.
One person wrote: “Exactly what needs to be said, I have a lot of respect for you.”

Another added: “Whilst I am hurt and humbled by the last couple of days, this is the best post I’ve seen all day.., Bless you!”
However, the posts also seemed to attract a lot of criticism as Charlotte posted an update to defend her stance.
She wrote: “If you took what I said via the status of mine which went viral yesterday, as a criticism, then you missed my point completely.
