Protesting students of the Lagos State University (LASU) on Thursday evening took over the office of the State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, barricading the main entrance with some of the buses they came with, while swearing to remain at the scene until the governor favourably reviews the hike in their school fees. When Huhuonline.com visited the scene, some of the female students were busy cooking with a large pot and firewood. While some of the students busied themselves with different sports, others danced to the music that blared from the speakers inside a Volkswagen bus. "We are preparing beans and with the size of the pot, we will all be filled. We also have garri and bread to go with it. We are prepared to remain here," one of the femaie students at the "kitchen" told our correspondent. Another student, who was seen dancing, said they had resorted to playing away their time because that was what the government had asked them to do. "But the government must remember that a son that says his mother would not sleep, shall also not sleep," he said. He said the students have resolved to continue with the protest irrespective of the government's plan to hound them. The students are protesting the hike in their fees. Their lecturers have also been at home for many weeks now, partly in sympathy with the students. Before getting to the Government House, the students had protested along some streets trekking while their school buses drove behind them, Earlier in the week, the students protested around the Oshodi area of the state grounding business activities in the area and clashing with security forces. The protest led to the arrest of eight of the students, who the police say have been charged for breach of public peace.
