Team Leader, Richard Lander Brothers Memorial Expedition Group, Steve Dunstone, has urged the Nigerian media to stop negative reports on the country and the oil-rich Niger Delta region. Dunstone, who is on a tour of tourism sites in Delta, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba on Sunday that the negative reports in the international media were portraying the country in bad light. He said that these reports were scaring investors and tourists away from Nigeria. Dunstone said that the team had been enjoying peace and hospitable reception from the people of Delta since they arrived in the state on June 3. He explained that since they came to Delta, the team had not witnessed any violence as portrayed in many international media reports. "Delta is peaceful and hospitable and investors are welcome," he said. On developing the tourism potential of Delta, Dunstone said that documentation of the rich tourism potential and cultural heritage of the state was needed for easy marketing. According to him, tourists and investors need information on these potential for planning and investment. He said that there were numerous untapped rich tourism potential and cultural heritage of Delta and noted that deliberate efforts should be made to develop and exploit them. Dunstone said: "Having moved from Niger State to Delta State, I discovered that Delta is one of the states with the highest tourism opportunities.
