Kidnappers free ex-DELSU VC



WARRI – FORMER Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, DELSU,Abraka, Professor John Okpako Enaohwo, who was abducted last Wednesdayby gunmen that demanded N10 million ransom, has been released, but hehas opted to keep sealed lip on his ordeal.

Professor Enaohwo was returning from an early morning mass in his SUV car when gunmen, who apparently laid siege to his Ovu country homein Ethiope East Local Government Area, stormed out from their hideoutsand kidnapped him.

They hijacked his vehicle and whisked him away and put a call to the chairman of the local government, Mr. Anthony Oboro, some hours later,asking for N10 million ransom.

It was not clear whether any ransom was paid before his release.

It was not clear too where the gunmen took the ex vice chancellor to, but, information reached Vanguard, weekend, that he had beenreleased, but he decided to keep quiet.

Some journalists managed to get to his country home at about 11:49 a.m. and confirmed he was in. The professor later said: “I want tokeep the media out of this; I do not want to grant any interview on myordeal in the hands of the kidnappers,” he said.

Among friends who came to rejoice with him last Friday morning were Dr. Patrick Muboghare, Mrs. Grace Odiri and High Chief Lord AlamBarovbe.

Vanguard source said the kidnappers passed both military and police checkpoints when they kidnapped Enaohwo with his Jeep from Ovu to apoint around Delta Steel Company, DSC, in Udu Local Government Area,where his vehicle was abandoned without detection by security agents.
