President Goodluck Jonathan
A Peoples Democratic Party leader in Kwara, State, Chief Taiwo Popoola, on Thursday called on the people of the state to give their support to the Federal Government.
Popoola, in a statement made available to journalists in Ilorin, lauded President Goodluck Jonathan ”for what he has been able to do within a short time,” noting that if given the needed cooperation, the President would take the country to greater heights.
He called on the National Assembly to hasten the process of amending the electoral law and the constitution to give the Independent National Electoral Commission time to conduct credible polls.
He appealed to politicians to play according to the rules and eschew all traces of violence, adding that this was capable of undermining the success of the 2011 elections.
Popoola urged INEC to be just and impartial in the conduct of the 2011 elections and remove the perception by the international community that the country could not conduct free and fair elections.
