The Oyo State Police Command has arrested some armed robbery suspects who allegedly specialize in robbing cattle rearers.
About 10 stolen cows were said to have been recovered from them during their arrest on Oke-Ogun area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Baba Adisa Bolanta, while parading the suspects with others said one Saliu, 50yrs old, Abdulahi Umaru, 25yrs and Buba Bello, 30yrs, from Ijio town via Iwere – Ile were nabbed after a gun duel with the police dispatched to the robbery scene.
He said, that the command also recovered seven exotic vehicles stolen by robbers outside the state.
According to him, the cars included black Toyota Camry, with registration number ES 981 APP, Toyota Camry marked AL 428 KJA, Nissan Maxima, EF 211 SMK, and another black Toyota Camry 1997 model, with number plate EJ 857 SMK, and two other cars with no registration numbers.
Speaking further on how the police were able to recovered the cars, Bolanta said, “a distress call was received from Lagos State that a black Toyota Camry was robbed at gun point somewhere in Lagos and that it had been tracked to somewhere in Alakia Adelubi area of Ibadan” .
“Based on the receipt of the information, my personnel at Alakia Adelubi Divisional Police headquarters sighted the vehicle around Olorisa Oko, Wakajaiye area of Ibadan where the vehicle was given a hot chase and traced to a fenced compound where the seven vehicles were found.
Other items recovered from the suspects include three pairs of damaged number plates, One locally fabricated master key, five pairs of undamaged number plates, Eight vehicles head lights, Eight wheel covers, Seven windscreen with different engraved registration numbers.
