| Jonathan, Sambo ticket best for Nigeria –Mark |
President of the Senate, David Mark, has said that the combination of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and his deputy, Namadi Sambo, is the best option for Nigeria in the coming presidential election. A statement from his office on Sunday said Mark made the assertion when he led members of the Alumni Association of Nigerian Defence Academy Regular Course 3 on a visit to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris. According to Mark, Jonathan and Sambo possessed the integrity, character and intelligence to lead Nigeria “out of the woods.” He urged Nigerians to invest their votes on the Jonathan/Sambo ticket in order to be able to actualise the vision and programmes that would lift Nigeria from the economic doldrums. He said that the National Assembly had put necessary measures in place, through the Electoral Act 2010, to guarantee free, fair and credible elections in 2011. He also clarified that that under the new Electoral Act, a level playing field was provided for all candidates with a view to ensuring that the outcome of the poll would meet the yearnings and aspirations of all stakeholders as well as the international community. Mark, who was also conferred with a chieftaincy title in Lokoja, assured that the President would alleviate the problems of the suffering masses if given the opportunity through the ballot box. Idris in his comments said he was proud to be associated with the NDA Alumna Association as it had produced eminent Nigerians, including the President of the Senate. | |||
