The issue of State Police have been at the center of National discourse now for ages, like several other issues which have fueled tension between the Federal Government on one side and State Governments on the other side, the issue of the state police have become a recurrent decimal which we believe the time have come for us to resolve it once and for all.

However, in resolving the issue one must put into consideration firstly, the genuine fear of misuse or even possibility of armed confrontation between one state that stock piles arms and the Federal Government on the other hand and secondly, the genuine and almost helplessness of the State Government in term of tackling crime within their domain without getting orders from  above thereby making their title as the Chief Executive Officer or Chief Security Officer of their state as a title on  paper only. Our stand is that the Federal Government should yield at this point so that an Act of Parliament or Constitutional Amendment could be carried out to define the scope of duties and relationship between the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and the proposed State Police especially who takes precedence whenever they both find themselves working on the same case.

We believe that the wisdom of the now is to allow the establishment of State Police but the argument should be what  kind of Armoury should the State Police legally carry?

We believe that there is already too much arms in the society being wielded by various security outfits whose only education on the use of such arms is to suppress the people and even the growing question of whether some compromised officers will not one day turn the used of their arm against the Federation? we concour that the new State Police should not be added to this league.

So in establishing the State Police they should legally be allowed to carry weapons ( like Martial art kit, Spy Cameras, Trained dogs, Pepper sprays, Hand Cuffs, Tear Gas and maybe Stun Guns e.t.c)   except lethal weapons. That way the State Government will have their bite in the war against criminals and thereby able to contain well over 90% of the crime in their domain. we know that by our suggestion, the aspiration of the Governors may not have been fully met since they cannot combat sophisticated crime like terrorism or armed rebellion for instance, but the beauty of it is that they themselves will be prevented from starting one.

However in the event that the Federal Government fails to yield in the present argument then our view is that there is nothing in our present Constitution that prohibit the establishment of State Security Department or organization, so long as it is not called “State Police’’ but the only issue is that of ammunition, which the earlier suggestion of carrying arms except lethal weapon will suffice since arms and ammunition is in exclusive legislative list the 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria which only the Federal Government can act upon.

This is our stand

God less Nigeria.

Its no news that internet giant, Yahoo! appointed a new Chief Executive Officer, Marissa Mayer, an American business executive. She’s only worked for 13-years in Google. She’s only 37 years old and that makes her the youngest CEO of a Fortune 500  company. She also oversaw the layout of Google’s search homepage. She also was Vice President of Local, Maps, and Location Services and, before that, Vice President of Search Products and User Experience all at Google. She has been a powerhouse of creativity and business acumen for one of the world’s most innovative companies, Google. Will that continue with Yahoo?

With her new mantle comes greater responsibility as she now placed at the prominence in Silicon Valley. What is more interesting now is that She’s expecting a baby boy in October, making her one of the first-ever pregnant women at the helm of a Fortune 500 company.  ”I like to stay in the rhythm of things,”…”My maternity leave will be a few weeks long, and I’ll work throughout it.” she said in an article with Europe’s Guardian Newspaper.

With all of these achievements, strides and accomplishments, one would hardly doubt her ability to save Yahoo! But does it really work that way? Will she save the ‘dying’ company?12166329682?profile=original

For ME, i also think that the interface is more standard while it also provides marketers free social media monitoring and measurement capabilities. ME can’t wait to use this to monitor my next online campaign, who will that client be?

Wondering how to use the new Google Analytics? Social Media Examiner did a good job to show that, follow this link:

Maybe God wants us to meet a
few wrong people before meeting
the right one so that when we finally
meet the right person, we will know
how to be grateful for that gift.

When the door of happiness closes,
another opens, but often times we look
so long at the closed door that we don't
see the one which has been opened for us.

The best kind of friend is the kind you
can sit on a porch and swing with,
never say a word, and then walk away
feeling like it was the best
conversation you've ever had.

It's true that we don't know what we've
got until we lose it, but it's also true
that we don't know what we've been
missing until it arrives.

Giving someone all your love
is never an assurance that they'll love you back.
Don't expect love in return;
just wait for it to grow in their heart
but if it doesn't,
be content it grew in yours.

It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone,
an hour to like someone,
and a day to love someone,
but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

Don't go for looks; they can deceive.
Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile
because it takes only a smile
to make a dark day seem bright.
Find the one that makes your heart smile.

There are moments in life
when you miss someone so much
that you just want to pick them
from your dreams and hug them for real.

Dream what you want to dream;
go where you want to go;
be what you want to be,
because you have only one life
and one chance
to do all the things you want to do.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
enough trials to make you strong,
enough sorrow to keep you human,
enough hope to make you happy.

Always put yourself in others' shoes.
If you feel that it hurts you,
it probably hurts the other person, too.

The happiest of people
don't necessarily
have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything
that comes along their way.

Love begins with a smile,
grows with a kiss
and ends with a tear.

The brightest future will always be based
on a forgotten past,
you can't go on well in life
until you let go of
your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and
everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so that when you die,
you're the one who is smiling and
everyone around you is crying.

Please send this message to those people
who mean something to you,
to those who have touched your life
in one way or another,
to those who make you smile
when you really need it,
to those that make you see
the brighter side of things...
to let them know that
you appreciate their friendship.

And if you don't...don't worry,
nothing bad will happen to you,
you will just miss out on the opportunity
to brighten someone's day with this message...

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Terrence McCauley, said if Nigeria would achieve socio-economic and political prosperity as soon as possible, the Federal Government must build strong institutions and not only strong men.

He gave the advice while addressing thousands of undergraduates from 31 tertiary institutions that converged on the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, yesterday, for the semi-finals of a national competition organised by an international non-profit organisation, Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) towards developing the leadership and entrepreneurial skills of the Nigerian youths.

McCauley stated that building of institutions that would be bigger and more powerful than an individual would not only create a better tomorrow for the contemporary youths, it would also help in overcoming the incessant security challenges besetting the country. According to him, “in 2009, President Barrack Obama said Africa does not need strong men, it needs strong institutions. This is an absolutely critical point for Nigeria because commencing small institutions today will create opportunities in the future in running your nation. These opportunities will benefit you and everyone.

“Today, Nigeria is one of the 10 fastest growing economies in the world. International investors, I am sure, are beginning to come because Nigerian economy is flourishing. This growth has potential to lift millions out of poverty and produce more jobs forthwith. But it will take determined efforts and strong character to keep Nigeria moving in the right direction.”

McCauley assured Nigerian youths that transparency, integrity, fairness, compassion and responsibility would keep them going whenever they embarked on any project and failed. Successful people, he maintained, had failed many times before they succeeded, adding that if the road to success was easy, everybody would take to it.

Meanwhile, the five tertiary institutions that would compete at the finals of the competition tagged: “The SIFE Challenge,” on July 21 are the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Bayero University, Kano (BUK), University of Ibadan (UI) and Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Adamawa State. They emerged after they defeated 26 other institutions at the first round on Wednesday and semi-finals yesterday

Ex-militants seeking inclusion into the federal government Amnesty Programme in the Niger Delta yesterday threatened a fresh attack on oil installations in the region if the new National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki fails to recognize them in the next one week. National speaker of the phase III ex-militants, Anuke Godwin, issued the threat contained in a text message to Weekly Trust yesterday in Yenagoa.

Godwin berated the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, noting that their own kinsman had disappointed them by performing below expectation since his assumption of office.

He said, “We thought that Jonathan’s administration would serve the interest of his kindred but we were wrong. Our calculation proved the contrary as his government after two years in office has nothing to show for it in the Niger Delta region. The Yaradua’s leadership was more reliable and preferred to this present one”.

Godwin explained that the NSA would have more battles to tackle in the country other than the menace of Boko Haram in some parts of the north due to what he described as the long neglect of his group’s plea to become part of the amnesty.

“We are urging the new NSA to focus attention on phase III amnesty programme to avoid disaster. We are telling the entire nation that if they take us for granted, a week from now, we shall resume firing to down the oil production without mercy,” the text reads in part.

Reacting, the JTF’s spokesman, Lt. Col. Onyema Nwachukwu said the mandate of the Joint Task Force code named ‘Operation Pulo Shield’ is quite clear and unambiguous- to curb all acts of economic sabotage bedeviling Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.”

KADUNA — Against the backdrop of calls by some states governors for the establishment of State Police Force to complement the present Nigeria Police Force,NPF, Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Abubakar, yesterday, in Kaduna kicked against it, saying Nigeria was not ripe for it.

The IGP, who spoke at the Kaduna State Police Command Headquarters, after paying a courtesy visit to Governor Patrick Yakowa before holding a town hall meeting with some community leaders in the state said he was repositioning the Police to be modern and people-friendly.

According to him, “the position of the Nigeria police before now on the issue of state Police has not changed. Nigeria is not ripe enough for a state police, period! Look at what is happening in Kaduna State now. If this magnitude of crisis was left to a state police, how would it curtail it?”

Speaking earlier at Kaduna State Government House, Kaduna while visiting Gov. Yakowa, the IGP said: “The problem with Nigeria is that the rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer. That kind of relationship is not good for anyone, especially the rich. The poverty level is widening. The implication is that as the poor keep getting poorer, the security of the rich is put at risk. That means that you are not secured when you drive your expensive car. You cannot sleep in peace in your mansion, when there are so many poor, hungry and angry people out there. Any society that does not guarantee food for its poor, the poor will not guarantee sleep for its rich.

“I want to call on government to do something about the endemic poverty in the country, especially employment for our teeming youths. It is an issue of serious security concern. And I believe that Governor Patrick Yakowa is already working on that.”

In response, Yakowa hailed the reform measure the Acting IGP was putting in place, and thanked him for the cooperation and assistance the Police had been rendering in Kaduna State since the crisis of April, 2011.

“I am aware of plans by the police to deploy more hands to some of our flash points in Kaduna. I want to pledge our continuous support to the police in the areas of logistics.”

At the Kaduna State Police Command, the IGP held a town hall meeting with some religious and community leaders where he exhorted them on good-neighbourliness, raising children to show respect to the laws of the land and on community policing.

He then took the Press to see some recently captured arms in Kaduna.

These include 6 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), 5 AK47 riffles, 14 dane guns, two locally made pistols, bullets, four riffle magazines, 50 specially made machetes and some bows and arrows.
