PHOTO: FORMER VICE PRESIDENT AND PDP PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT, ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR WAVES TO SUPPORTERS AT THE YOLA AIRPORT ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2010 JUST BEFORE THE ACCIDENT THAT KILLED TWO PERSONS.

Nov 27, (THEWILL) – The motorcade of former Vice President and consensus Presidential candidate of the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on Friday evening in Yola, Adamawa State, rammed into a crowd of supporters killing two persons and causing severe injuries to more than 15 others.

We gathered that three victims are currently hospitalized at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Federal Medical Centre in the city while others are at the Yola Specialist Hospital.

Atiku Abubakar was in Yola to attend the traditional marriage ceremony of one of his daughters who wedded a governorship aspirant in the state, Adamu Muazu Modibbo when a Toyota Prado SUV in his 16-campaign vehicle convoy swerved off the road along Galadima Aminu Way where supporters had packed to salute the politician..

One of those killed identified as Muji Mohammed was on a motorcycle chanting ‘Sai Turaki, Sai Turaki' when the driver of the SUV lost control and rammed into motorbike and thereafter triggered a multiple car crash that saw all the SUV’s smashing into each other, an eyewitness said.

Attempts to reach Atiku's Campaign Organisation for comments on the fatal incident were unsuccessful

accident! it is inevitable really but never an intentional act by the either causer or those who got affected by it... meanwhile, lot of accident happened on the high way, which are very fatal and caused by bad roads, so atiku's accident should not be an issue of focus, please, it could happen to any one. but, we should bear some issue in mind that when people are having things like political ambition, it should never be the time we write bad things about them or it should be the time we start to monitor them around for their mistakes.....nigerian should be careful about this!

This write up is not true. I live in Yola so I should know. people should fear God when they say things about other people. I am not into politics but throughout his visit, no such thing occurred.
Pls get your facts right.

If he wasn't aware of the incident and now he did via the media what is he going to do about it. He can claim ignorance which was the norm in the Nigerian society we don't or never claim responsibility while the victim would accept it as their fate. It's time we must stand up and refuse it that enough is enough his insurance must pay for the life lost and those in the hospital must be taken care of by paying their bills plus they must be compensated for their lost time. Regardless of who is driving or who isn't matter not, but former Vice President Atiku was the reason for the crowd and for that simple reason his entourage is responsible because if all this has been forestall adequate plan would be in place. In this wise that wasn't the case to excuse him from the responsibility in this story.
