Chris Brown Flips Out, Smashes Window

Chris Brown's Tuesday appearance on Good Morning America didn't exactly go without a hitch.

Promoting his new album F.A.M.E. (Forgiving All My Enemies), the singer, 21, was visibly agitated during an interview with show host Robin Roberts as she asked questions related to his 2009 assault of then-girlfriendRihanna. (Brown tried to move the focus back to his new record when Roberts asked about a relaxed restraining order between the former couple and other legal issues.)

After that tense chat, an irked Brown performed his song "Yeah 3x," stormed off stage and retreated to his dressing room.  ABC Newsconfirms that Brown, suddenly shirtless, then confronted the segment producer angrily. "The producer backed away," ABC reports. Hearing loud noises coming out Brown's dressing room, the show's hair and makeup staff became concerned and called security.

TMZ reports that Brown destroyed a dressing room window by throwing a chair at it. (ABC News confirms that the glass was shattered, with the evidence visible from outside the building at 43rd street and Broadway in Manhattan.) Brown was later photographed storming out of the studio with his shirt off.

Says ABC News in a statement: "As always, we ask questions that are relevant and newsworthy, and that's what we did in this interview."

After the incident, Brown wrote an angry Tweet, even mentioning Charlie Sheen: "I'm so over people bringing this past s**t up!!! Yet we praise Charlie Sheen and other celebs for their bulls**t."

Brown quickly deleted that post, writing simply:"All my fans!!! This album is for you and only you!!! I'm so tired of everyone else!! Honestly!! I love team breezy!!"

Chris Brown exploded in rage behind the scenes at "Good Morning America" this morning ... smashing a window and storming out without a shirt ... sources tell TMZ ... and it was triggered by on-air questions about the Rihanna incident.

ABC sources tell TMZ ... Brown performed and was interviewed by Robin Roberts live from the Times Square studio when she began asking about the infamous incident.

Brown tried to redirect the questions to focus on his album -- but Roberts continued to ask about Brown's legal issues stemming from the Rihanna incident.

What has Jennifer Aniston done to her face?

Jennifer Aniston has long been lauded for “looking great for her age,” but recent photos of the actress have some wondering if she is getting a little help fighting Father Time.

“Jen has a little more fullness under her eyes, which could be from injections,” Beverly Hills-based plastic surgeon, Marc Mani, MD, who does not treat Aniston, tells FOX411. “However, her entire face looks a little swollen so it also could be she's recovering from a laser treatment of some kind.”

aniston2600.jpg

A Chicago-area plastic surgeon agrees that Aniston may have done a little tinkering. “I suspect that she's had fillers,” says Peter Geldner, MD. “In extreme expression, I see a little extra fullness adjacent to her nose that often a give away sign of fillers. There are mild contour differences in her lips as well. There are many fillers available, including the patient's own fat, but I suspect that this would be either Restylane or Juvaderm.”

It seems that Aniston may also be a FOB–Friend of Botox. Her best friend, Courteney Cox, has long admitted she uses the stuff.

“She doesn’t show any notable wrinkles, even in her most animated expressions,” says Geldner, who does not treat the former "Friends" star. “She has no crows’ feet, frown lines or forehead wrinkles. This clearly looks like it's the work of Botox. There's nothing extreme, just well dosed and artfully placed Botox that preserve that placid expression.”

Keeping wrinkles at bay doesn’t come cheap. “Lower lid injections would most likely be with Restylane, which runs about $700 to $1500,” says Mani. “Laser treatments such fractional skin resurfacing, or Pixel as we do in my office, run $1,000 and up per treatment, and sometimes multiple treatments are required.”

“Botox is often priced by the amount used and also by who is providing the service,” explains Geldner. “Prices range from $200 for just a little in a single area to over $1500 for all the areas mentioned. Restylane or Juvaderm is priced between $500 and $750 per syringe.”

But both of the good doctors agree on one thing—Jen looks fabulous.

“Jennifer Aniston clearly brought exceptional genetics to the game,” says Geldner. “Considering that she enjoys tanning, her look remains smooth and nearly flawless.”

“Jen probably knows what she's doing as far as aesthetic procedures go,” adds Mani. “So, assuming it is swelling, I bet she'll turn out looking great.

Stunning Miss Ireland Emma Waldron told yesterday in a forthright interview how she will never let 'ignorant' racists affect her love for Nigerian boyfriend Manners Oshafi.

Emma, 21, has been the victim of a vicious internet campaign because of her relationship with a black man and was forced to report an online poster targeting her with hateful and abusive racist comments.

She recently found herself at the centre of a row after one person branded her 'disgusting' for dating a black man.

Love conquers all: Emma Waldron and Manners Oshafi have been dating for a year. The stunning Miss Ireland has been the victim of a vicious internet campaign because of her relationship

And the stunning brunette told the Irish Mail on Sunday in an exclusive interview how one person went so far as to set up an account to target the couple.

'One Twitter account was set up specifically to send me hateful comments.

'But I blocked them and reported them so I don't get the messages any more,' she said.

Friends have dubbed them 'Memmers'

The couple - who have been dating for nearly a year - have even earned their own Brangelina-like portmanteau.

Friends have dubbed them 'Memmers', a combination of Emma and Manners.

And such is the strength of their relationship that Emma and Manners have vowed not to allow themselves to be victimised.

'We are a very strong couple and we don't really care what people think.

'We have not been affected at all by the remarks on Twitter as it just stems from people's ignorance,' said Manners.

Emma, who came fourth in the Miss World competition before Christmas, said that while she has encountered racism while out with Manners, 23, she refuses to let it get to her.

Crown: Emma was named Miss Ireland last year

'I have experienced negative comments on nights out and on social networking sites but it doesn't bother me.

'I will never let someone's ignorance affect my love for Manners. He is the most amazing person I have ever met.

'What colour my skin is doesn't matter to him and what colour his skin is doesn't matter to me.

'What matters in friendship and love is the heart and soul of the person you are in a relationship with and his heart is so big and I'm lucky to be in it,' she said.

The Kildare beauty said while everyone is entitled to their opinion, she feels that now that Ireland is a multi-cultural society, people should be educated.

'I think that Ireland is so rich in many cultures and often times preconceived notions influence how people treat others who are of different colour, creed or sexuality.

'We need to help break down the barriers that sometimes build up in our homes, schools and society. The way to do this is by educating people.'

Emma said that her parents' openness and acceptance has had huge impact on her and her choices.

'My grandmother is Swedish and my dad is part-Italian, so as a family we have always been open,' she said.

'They love Manners and his family love me. There really is no issue of colour at all. He's just my boyfriend.'

Manners moved to Ireland eight years ago with his parents and four siblings. The family first settled in Athlone.

'I don't let the negative comments bother me'

In a reflection of the changing nature of modern Ireland, he revealed that he was the first black boy in his school.

'It was strange coming to Ireland, cold,' he laughed.

'But Ireland is a great country. Myself and my brother were the first black kids in the school in Athlone so we were seen as being different but good different.

'We made good friends and were never bullied.'

Manners has just completed a master's degree in telecommunications engineering at Dublin City University.

Now Emma's boyfriend is helping her develop her website as she has her sights set on a career in television.

'I am going back to St Pat's [St Patrick's College] this year as I want to qualify as a teacher but I would also like to do some TV work,' she said.

The statuesque beauty is currently working with the makers of [reality TV show] Fade Street on an online fashion programme.

'I have been doing an online fashion magazine show called Stylemania and it's going really well. I would love to do some TV work and this is giving me great experience. It's going really well.'

Contender: Emma came fourth in the Miss World competition last year

Emma, who carries out voluntary work with St Vincent de Paul, said that she feels compelled to speak out against bullies and racists.

'I am very lucky in that I have a platform and I can use that. Yes, I have been the target of a bully but I am strong and have dealt with it.

'It's International Day Against Racism tomorrow and I think we all have a role to play to promote equality and raise awareness.

'I can draw from my experiences and even if I help one person to overcome bullying, well, then that's something,' she said.

Emma, who is first violin with the Hibernian Symphony Orchestra, said that people need to be educated on race and different cultures.

'I think it would be very naive of me to say that there is no racism in Ireland. Unfortunately there is.

'If you socialise with people from different races and cultures you are less likely to show hatred towards them. But it still exists. I think people should make an effort to know people different from you.'

The good-looking couple have just bought a Labrador called Herbie and say that while they are very happy together they have no plans to set up home just yet.

'Emma is terrific,' said Manners. 'We are different in some ways but in other ways we are like soul mates.

'We think the same way and sometimes will finish each other's sentences. But Emma is going back to college so we have no plans to move in just yet.'

The computer whizz also revealed that he has no problems with Emma's work as a model.

'Why would I? She always looks great in pictures. She is gorgeous. I'm a lucky man,' he laughed.

General information

Building on momentum from a mass voter registration drive, a coalition of several youth empowerment groups and blogs, including Vote or Quench, Enough is Enough Nigeria coalition, Sleeves Up, and Nigerian Leadership Initiative, is calling for the first-ever presidential youth centered debate in Nigeria. Looking ahead to the April elections, the debate would focus on the key issues affecting a critical voting demographic, with the age group of 30 and under representing 70% of the population.

Tuesday, March 22, 2011Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega has confirmed that five persons, including INEC staff, have been arrested in connection with the illegal possession of three Direct Data Capture (DDC) machines in a hotel room in Ibadan, the Oyo State, and promised that they would not go scot-free.

 advertisement
Jega who fielded questions from members of civil society groups in Abuja, yesterday, explained that one of the suspects was a top staff of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department of the commission.
Also, the commission has scheduled a meeting with the leaders of the 63 registered political parties for today to explain the planned voting procedure for the elections and display to them the specimen ballot papers and ballot boxes.
Speaking on the Oyo DDC machine saga, the INEC chairman said the commission was committed to prosecuting the offenders. In view of this, Jega announced that the IT staff had been replaced to restore confidence in the process.
“We have sent somebody to take over ICT in Ibadan and we have certified the voter register which makes the attempted manipulation difficult,” he explained, pointing out that this was because the present commission had made it clear from the beginning that it was no longer business as usual.
Describing the development as unfortunate, Jega said the ICT personnel acted without the consent of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Ayo Adakeja as the ICT official was said to have taken permission to go out.
By this ugly incident, the INEC chairman argued that it was clear that there were still a few bad eggs within the system whose conduct was bound to smear the image of the commission.
Said he: “What has happened in Ibadan is very unfortunate. The head of the ICT Unit in Ibadan was caught in a hotel room with four other people who are not INEC officials with six DDC machines.
“Obviously, they have been arrested; investigation is going on in trying to determine whether he was acting alone or whether he had partners who are his collaborators within INEC or outside.
“So, I think as I speak with you now the picture is not complete but the good thing is that you were trying to do something wrong and you were caught.
“We are doing our best now to investigate and determine the extent to which damage has been done with our data in Ibadan. I think that is all I can say for now. But obviously, we are committed to prosecuting any person who has committed any offence.”
Meanwhile, the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that none if its members have been arrested in relation to the alleged doctoring of the voters’ register in the state.
In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Strategy, Mr. Morohunkola Thomas, the party denied the reports alleging that some officials of the INEC in conjunction with some members of the PDP were caught doctoring the voters’ register in 27 out of the 33 local government areas in the state.
“And this is a very grievous offence we have taken decisions we have already sent somebody to take over as the head of ICT in Ibadan so that all these investigations can be done and the work also as we prepare for elections can continue.
“It is very unfortunate, I have said it before that there is no over emphasizing the fact that where ever you have thousands of people in an organization, there are bound to be those who are reckless, who are fraudulent and who in spite of whatever else you do they are still criminally minded and determined to perpetrate crimes.
“And the challenge for every organization is to have the capacity to apprehend such offenders in order to penalize them in accordance with the law. It’s a very unfortunate thing that has happened. What it has done is to further motivate us to further be very serious about the security and integrity of our data.”
Jega stated further that “I have started reading very uncomplimentary remarks about the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the papers. I want to say categorically, that from the information available to me as of now the officer acted without authority of the REC.
“In fact, he left people in the office who were still working over night producing the voter register to say he was going home around 8pm and left and evidently he left and went to the hotel to perpetrate whatever crime he was caught perpetrating.
“It is important that we await the outcome of investigations before casting aspersions on everybody.”
On the preparations of INEC, he disclosed that apart from the commission’s 530 Hilux Vans for the conduct of the elections, it will soon take delivery of another 100 vehicles and 60 Speed boats. Besides these, Jega noted that the Nigerian Air Force was willing to assist in the areas they can to make success of the elections.

12166306253?profile=originalHon. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu II, first son of Dim Chukwuemeka-Odumegwu, has put a lie to various reports purporting to the remarkable improvement in the health of the ailing Biafran warlord, insisting that his father cannot yet talk, write or in any position to communicate his thoughts to anybody.

The younger Ojukwu, who was reacting to what he described as the desperation of politicians to drag his father’s name into politics said the family was hugely ‘disappointed’ at the trend.

In a statement released in Abuja yesterday on behalf of the Ojukwu family, Ojukwu II thanked all who have shown genuine interest in the recovery of its patriarch by lamented: “I wish to seize this opportunity to express the family’s disappointment in the conduct of a few persons who have continued to drag the name of my father into politics, especially at this his most trying moment, when he is not in any position to respond to what is being said or done in his name.”

He said the Ikemba, although has recorded appreciable improvement in his health since he was taken abroad, he has remained much in the same state that he was flown out – unable to communicate his thoughts either in words or in writing to anybody.

His words: “Until I left the United Kingdom last week, the progress made by my father in his recovery has not developed to the point of his being able to communicate his views and opinions to anybody, including myself, orally or in writing. In fact, this has been his condition since the crisis in December last year.”

The statement reads titled, Expression of Gratitude reads in full:

“On behalf of the family of Dim Chukwuemeka-Odumegwu-Ojukwu (Eze Igbo Gburugburu), I issue this statement to express our profound gratitude to governments, leaders, associations and persons who have continued to pray for the speedy recovery of the patriarch of the family, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

I appreciate especially, the solidarity, support and assistance of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I extend similar gratitude and appreciation to the Government and people of Anambra State. The governors of the other states in the South-East geopolitical zone, the Nigerian media, religious organizations, the Nigerian people especially Ndigbo in Nigeria and all over the world and several other persons and organizations, who have continued to pray fervently for the recovery of my father.

“I wish to assure the general public that there has been steady improvement in Eze Igbo’s health condition, having just returned from the United Kingdom where he is currently hospitalized. I thank Almighty God for the improvement recorded so far. The quality of the treatment he is receiving and the prayers of his numerous admirers and well-wishers have been most helpful and reassuring.

“However, I wish to seize this opportunity to express the family’s disappointment in the conduct of a few persons who have continued to drag the name of my father into politics, especially at this his most trying moment, when he is not in any position to respond to what is being said or done in his name. In circumstances such as the one the family has found itself in, it is only the natural spokesperson of the family who is my humble self as Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu II, his son, that is expected to speak on his behalf whenever the need arises. Similarly, comments on his specific medical condition or progress are to be made by the hospital authorities who are currently managing his treatment.

“Until I left the United kingdom last week, the progress made by my father in his recovery has not developed to the point of his being able to communicate his views and opinions to anybody including myself, orally or in writing. In fact, this has been his condition since the crisis in December last year. It is therefore, in absolute bad taste, disrespectful and unethical for some people to engage in certain political comments and purport to have obtained my father’s consent and approval for such comments, when there is no truth in such claims. It is in the same like manner that the family views certain exaggerated statements on the recovery of my father without the authorization of the medical authorities who are managing his health.

These developments have embarrassed the family greatly.

“I therefore appeal to the persons concerned to moderate their comments and desist from subjecting Dim Odumegwu-Ojukwu (Eze Igbo Gburugburu) to political commitments and engagements without his consent especially during this challenging time in his life.

“I appeal to all wishers and admirers of my father not to relent in their prayers, solidarity and support for his speedy recovery. By the special grace of God, he will return to Nigeria healthy enough to resume his contributions to national development.

“I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

May the Almighty God bless you all.

May God bless Nigeria.”

Thugs stab Okonkwo, attack Ngige's convoy

Violence rocks Anambra, Edo, Plateau, Oyo

Uzamere's orderly killed in Edo

PDP shelves rally over Jos blasts..

FOUR states were literally turned to war zones between Sunday evening and yesterday by politicians and their supporters, who resorted to all forms of violence, some bloody and abduction to settle grievances with perceived enemies.

In Edo State, fear gripped the residents of Benin City, the state capital, as suspected gunmen killed the police orderly of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate for the South Senatorial District, Ehigie Uzamere. The lawmaker, however, escaped unhurt.

The situation was not different in Awka and Onitsha, Anambra State where Senator Annie Okonkwo of the Accord Party and Dr. Chris Ngige of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) campaign trains had it rough with thugs allegedly sponsored by another party.

The two senatorial candidates had scheduled separate appointments with traders in the areas.

The political gladiators in Plateau State also heightened tension generated by last Sunday's bomb explosion as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hurriedly shelved its governorship rally scheduled for Bukuru, Jos-South.

The party's allegations that its opponents from the Labour Party (LP) were behind the explosion, attracted the anger of the opposition party, which accused the state government of planting explosives to scare the people.

Mr. Raymond Dabo, the state PDP Deputy Chairman, claimed the opposition was responsible for the explosions and urged the police to bring the perpetrators to book. But Mr. Sylvanus Namang, LP Director of Publicity, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the party (LP) was a peaceful one and was using peaceful means to change the PDP government in the state.

A leader of the Accord Party (AP) in Oyo State, Julius Olaoye was on Sunday evening abducted by some hoodlums believed to be factional members of the proscribed National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state.

Besides, two other persons, identified as Ajasa Balogun and his wife, Kehinde, who attempted to stop Olaoye's abduction, were injured by the hoodlums.

The incident, which occurred at AP's office in Iyana Church area of Ibadan, the state capital was alleged to have been spearheaded by some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Trouble broke out when one of the factional leaders of the transport union swooped on the AP members in a Mercedez Benz Jeep at 7 p.m. and reportedly abducted Olaoye.

Although the AP members said they were yet to hear from the victim, the party hinted that it petitioned the state Police Commissioner, Baba Adisa Bolanta on the development.

Okonkwo, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party, had his left arm stabbed by a suspected thug and rushed to a nearby private hospital. He was later discharged and left for home.

His main attacker and lead suspect in the saga, who was shot by security details attached to the lawmaker, is also responding to treatment in a hospital in Awka.

Trouble allegedly started when Okonkwo donated a 500KVA transformer to the traders in response to their Save Our Soul (SOS) message by the leadership of the market that they have been in darkness since late 2006.    His gesture alleged caused wild jubilation in the city, which was spread by taxi cabs and commercial motorcycle riders. This allegedly infuriated some members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), who mobilised their members against the Senator and his entourage.

One of the thugs dazed everyone around, including the security details attached to Okonkwo when he charged at him, brandishing a long knife menacingly. He succeeded in stabbing the senator on the arm and a policeman before he was demobilised.

Before the assault, the thugs started chanting the slogan of APGA, which was echoed by a handful of men, who had taken positions nearby in a taskforce vehicle belonging to the state government.

When attempts were made by security operatives to lead them out of the arena, they drew long knives they had concealed under their dresses and attacked the policemen and others around, which led to a stampede.

The situation hardly settled when news came that Ngige was in Onitsha trying to enter the main market, allegedly blocked by a combine team of Anambra State Environmental Protection Agency (ANSEPA) Market Taskforce and suspected APGA supporters.

Ngige was invited by the leadership of the market to address them at their Monday morning prayers. The taskforce and thugs, who blocked the entrance, insisted that they were acting on "order from above."

In the midst of the confusion, the taskforce attacked three of Ngige's drivers and damaged six of the vehicles in the convoy.

Apparently touched by the incident, traders who had been waiting to receive Ngige started chanting "Holy Ghost fire" and singing "Ngige ka anyi ga eso," which literarily means: "It is Ngige that we will follow."

The traders carried their brooms, symbol of the ACN and the posters of Ngige forming a ring around the convoy in order to avert further damage to the vehicles.

After about three hours, an Assistant Police Commissioner, Parry Osita, arrived at the scene with some policemen and tried to disperse the crowd.

Osita advised Ngige to reschedule the meeting but the traders insisted that he must address them on the spot.

After normalcy was restored, Ngige said, "no amount of intimidation can stop me from talking to my brothers and sisters in Anambra State. Even if they destroy my cars, I will go on my campaign on foot. They cannot stop the people of Anambra State from supporting their candidate and that is me."

Reacting to the Awka incident, Okonkwo, Campaign Director, Chief Jeo Martins Uzodike told reporters that "when a thug brought out a machete to stab Okonwo, he was prevented by security people and the machete slightly touched the senator. This is unfortunate the way people are going about this and I wish to warn that nobody has the monopoly of violence."

In the Benin attack, Uzamere's police orderly, Onyisi Ekeaze, a sergeant was not lucky as he was shot in the chest and died while the senator's driver simply identified as Muhammed, sustained gunshot wounds in his hip.

The incident happened around Zabayo, Ogbe area of Benin City on Sunday night.

The state Police Commissioner, David Omajola, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said investigations were on, adding that "we are mourning because we have lost a gallant officer."

On whether suspects had been arrested, Omajola said he was bereaved and would not want to comment on it.

Narrating his experience to journalists yesterday, a visibly shaken Uzamere, called on the police to investigate the attack as he alleged it was an assassination attempt that was politically motivated.

"It was between 7.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. by Zabayo, I had two of my vehicles, one with my aides and I was in my own. As soon as I got down to meet my aides in the other vehicle, I heard gunshot out of the car; we took cover first to identify where the shot was coming from. My police orderly, Sergeant Onyisi Ekeaze was gunned down, my driver, Muhammed, was shot in the hip. We called in SARS (Special Anti-Robbery Squad) and in the process; we discovered my driver was shot in the chest. The MOPOL returned fire and killed one of the assailants while the other three escaped in the vehicle they brought. We want the police to investigate this issue to know why."

Mr. Jonathan Ishaku, the Director of Publicity of the Jang Campaign Organisation, in his reaction to the Sunday blast, said the LP should be investigated and alleged that the party had been violent in its rallies. "Our opponents are planting bombs everywhere in Jos now; the aim is to scare people away from voting but we urge our supporters to remain calm," Dabo said.

Ishaku, however, disagreed that the PDP campaign rally was shelved because of the security situation in the metropolis.

"We shelved the campaigns to pay our respects to the late Head of Plateau Civil Service, Mr. Satti Dakwak, who is being buried today (yesterday)," he said.

But LP, the main opposition political party in the state, has denied the allegations that it was behind the blasts and accused the PDP of politicising the explosions to gain sympathy."

Meanwhile, Capt. Charles Ekeocha, spokesman for the military Special Task Force (STF), has said another bomb explosion was foiled at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church in the heart of the town while the Sunday service was underway.

Ekeocha explained that the two men, who planted the bombs, came on a motorcycle and quickly disappeared after dropping the explosive.

Soyinka alerts public over false text messages

NOBEL Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has distanced himself from some political messages being circulated via short messaging service (SMS), which created the impression that they originated from him. advertisement In a statement yesterday, Soyinka wrote: "It has been brought to my notice that certain text messages of a political nature are being sent out over my name. I have actually seen one of them. I wish to alert the public that these messages are fraudulent and did not emanate from me. "I have sent no text or e-mail messages whatsoever to any individual or circulation list, and have no plans to do so. "To the best of my knowledge, forgery in any circumstances remains a criminal act even in Nigeria. I therefore draw the attention of the police to this unsavoury development on the rapidly degenerating political scene and call for prompt action before it becomes rampant."

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commisson on Monday arraigned a U.S-based Nigerian Attorney, Mr. Emeka Egwuonye, at an Abuja High Court on a one-count charge of corruption.

 advertisement here

Egwuonye was charged with illegally withholding $1.35m tax refunds from the sale of some Nigerian properties in the U.S.
Reading the charges before Justice Suleiman Belgore, the EFCC accused Egwuonye of not remitting the said amount, which he claimed was used to pay tax on the properties.
Counsel to the EFCC, Mr Festus Keyamo, however, said investigations carried out by the commission revealed that diplomatic missions in the U.S did not pay tax.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the accused, Mr. Michael Ugwuanyi, prayed the court to grant his client bail.
Ugwuanyi told the court that the accused had filed another suit before Justice Salisu Garba at another Abuja High Court.
He said the suit was for an order declaring that his detention by the EFCC and the State Security Service since February 12 was "unlawful, unconstitutional, illegal and a gross violation of his fundamental human rights."
He told the court that Garba had on March 17, granted his client's prayers.
Ugwuanyi argued that the continued detention of his client by operatives of the EFCC was a violation of his right to freedom of movement as guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution.
He said the judge had also ordered the EFCC and the SSS to unconditionally release his client from their custody, pending the determination of the suit.
Belgore, however, refused to grant the accused person bail and ordered that he should be detained by the EFCC.
He adjourned the case to March 30.

Another demonstration of the incompetence of the Nigeria police today in Jos led to their killing of six people at a campaign rally of Muhammad Buhari's Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the city.

Following threats by the Nigeria police that General Buhari (Rtd), the presidential candidate of the CPC, could not hold a politically rally in the volatile city, they blocked major parts of the entrance to the Polo Ground venue of the campaign.  It was a move reminiscent of the February 12 action of the police at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt where they caused the deaths of 20 people by shooting into the air to prevent people from leaving the rally and started a stampede instead.

CPC operatives told SaharaReporters that at the Jos Polo Ground rally, the Nigerian police had the singular objective of preventing Buhari's supporters from attending his rally in the city.

Earlier in the day, Buhari had paid a courtesy call on the governor of the state, Jonah Jang.  While he was there, a huge crowd massed in front of the governor's lodge waiting for the presidential candidate to come out.  As soon as he had concluded the courtesy visit, they marched with him to the venue of the rally.

But the police, under the disingenuous argument that a huge rally in the city by Buhari supporters could lead to another round of violence in the area tried to prevent several groups from reaching the venue.  That action, which the supporters described as "sabotage," led to resistance and violence.  The police resorted to using live ammunition to disperse the crowd, leading to the death of the six.

As a result of the chaos, Buhari could not go to the palace of Gbong Gwong Jos, nor could he meet with other groups waiting to meet with him in the city.
It would be recalled that last week in Ibadan, Oyo State, the police tried to prevent Buhari from using Mapo Hall, which his party had reserved, for his rally.  They claimed it would be used the following day by the wife of Goodluck Jonathan, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, and that they needed 48 hours to clear the place for her.

12166305453?profile=originalGunmen numbering about five on Sunday night abducted Mafe Ibrahim, the mother of billionaire and politician, Jimoh Ibrahim at his country home, Igbotako in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the four gunmen arrived the house, a one-storey building located in the outskirts of the town around 8pm, and pretended to be customers who wanted to buy some locally made mats which the woman was selling.

Donatus Ekuma who was the guard on duty in the house told reporters at Igbotako that the old woman was upstairs when the kidnappers arrived.

He said: “Four of them came in a vehicle. Two of them came down from the car and demanded to see Mama. They claimed to be her customers and that they wanted to buy some mats.

“I told them that Mama was resting upstairs but they insisted on seeing her personally and make their purchase and I obliged them,” he said.

Mr Ekuma, however said that the story changed when the old woman came out to meet her ‘customers’ only to be held with force and dragged into their waiting vehicle.

“I immediately raised the alarm but the gunmen pointed their guns at me and other domestic staff on duty, ordering us to lie, face-down,” he added. The kidnappers, zoomed away with the old woman.

Effort of the police

The Spokesperson of the state police command, Aremu Adeniran, confirmed the development to our correspondent on Monday, saying that the incident was reported at the Igbotako Police Station around 11.30pm, on Sunday night.

He however said that his men have commenced full investigation into the matter to ensure that the woman is released unhurt.

Mr Ibrahim or any member of the family could not be reached as at the time of filing this report for comment.

Our attention has been drawn to another lousy outing by President Goodluck Jonathan's "Chemical Alli",Mike Omeri wherein he sought to abuse the office of the President to spread low quality rumour against the man his paymaster is handing over to in 71 days time,General Muhammadu Buhari.

From under the "umblerah"(umbrella) of shame where they have been hibernating since they ran from the Presidential debate because they could not get questions in advance,Omeri ran to foul the atmosphere with a thoughtless charge that General Buhari is not sincere about his resolve to rid Nigeria of corruption.

In the usual audacious incompetence of the Jonathan camp,Omeri's only evidence to support his assertion is the fabled "53 suitcases" of 1984.
For a campaign that parades a PHD on top of its ticket,we would ordinarily expect that any subject they want to attack would be properly researched but unfortunately the way governance in Nigeria has not seen any touch of intellect in the last 10 months is also reflecting in their puerile propaganda.

For the sake of the unwary who may be tempted to believe their is any substance to this urban legend,we recap what happened .In 1984,the Emir of Gwandu whose son was ADC to General Buhari was returning to the country from overseas. The Head of state on learning of his arrival asked his son to go and receive him at the aiport as they were only playing  squash at the time..

Coincidentally, the Nigerian ambassador to Libya at the time,Dr Tahir Waziri arrived at the same time with the Emir with his three wives and 16 children. They all came with their belongings as he was coming home to take up a new appointment as chief of protocol to the Head of state. It was the suitcases of the family of 20 that were counted as  belonging to the Emir and falsely presented to the public.

General Buhari has over the years asked those who have questions over the matter to go to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who was at the head of Customs operations at the airport on the day.Now we are further suggesting this as a research topic for a doctoral thesis by the president when he hands over on May 29,2011.

Having come clean on this as General Buhari does with all his public service records,we are asking Predient Jonathan a few questions as we await his threat of exposing his main challenger,a feat which his godfathers in PDP have been unable to achieve since 2002 that he threw his hat in the ring against the ruling party. Here we go:

1) Can Mr President explain what happened to the case of N104m seized from Nancy Ebere Nwosu who allegedy swore to an affidat to the EFCC that she was laundering money for Dame Patience Jonathan?

2) What about the announcement by the then EFCC spokesman,Mr Osita Nwajah on September 11, 2006  that the sum of 13.5m USD was seized from another associate of Mrs Jonathan which the anti-graft body said belonged to the now first lady?

3) Any explanation on the several billions of Naira which DSP Alamiesegha left in Bayelsa coffers as at the time of his impeachment  which was allegedy squandered in months by Jonathan without anything to show for it?

4) Who presided over the FEC meeting in October  2009  where a 4 km runnway at Abuja Airport was awarded for N64b?Late Predident Yaradua was already in Saudi Hospital as at the time!

5 What happened to the 30b USD Yaradua left in the excess crude account that is virtually empty now?

6 How come it  is only Nigeria under Jonathan whose foreign reserve is depleting among oil producing nations at a time of all time high increase in prices of oil products?

We understand Jonathan is scared of General Buhari promise to check out what happened to the billions of dollars the ruling PDP has sunk to the power sector to give Nigeria further darkness instead of light because he has supervised that sector in the last four years.

No amount of cheap shots will stop the change Nigeria awaits from ensuring that Nigerians enjoy regular power supply starting from finding out what the PDP did to put the light out so that money never pour  into procuring darkness in our country again.

'To my Dear Obama, our son', says Gaddafi, defending attack on rebels
19 Mar 2011, 1757 hrs IST, AGENCIES
Calling Barack Obama as "our son", Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi sent a message to the US President defending his decision to attack the rebels fighting to overthrow him.

Gaddafi(68) also wrote a letter to the French and British leaders, and the UN Secretary General, saying the Security Council resolution was "void" and violated the UN charter, warning them that they would "regret" any intervention.

"Libya is not for you, Libya is for the Libyans," he said. .

Details of Gaddafi's letters were released by the Libyan government spokesman at a news conference in Tripoli.

Defending his decision to attack rebel cities, Gaddafi told Obama, "Al Qaeda is an armed organisation, passing through Algeria, Mauritania and Mali. What would you do if you found them controlling American cities with the power of weapons? What would you do, so I can follow your example."

Trying to strike a personal note, Gaddafi prefaced his letter saying, "To our son, his excellency, Mr Baracka Hussein Obama. I have said to you before, that even if Libya and the United States of America enter into a war, god forbid, you will always remain a son. Your picture will not be changed."

In his letter to Nikolas Sarkozy, David Cameron and Ban Ki Moon, Gaddafi said, "Libya is not yours, Libya is for the Libyans. The security council, their resolution is void because it is not according to the charter to interfere with the internal affairs of the country."

You have no right. You will regret if you get involved in this, our country. We can never shoot a single bullet on our people, it is Al Qaeda organisation."

Discussions about the possibility of bringing Charlie back to Two and a Half Men have been going on in earnest the last couple of days.
As RadarOnline.com has been reporting, the actor was fired earlier this month, with CBS and Warner Bros. TV issuing a statement that "Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen's services" for their hit sitcom.

He also filed a $100 million lawsuit against Lorre and Warner Bros. TV.
Sheen is now taking his rant on the road, and has 20 concert dates planned, including one at New York's Radio City Music Hall.
It's unclear how far along CBS' Moonves is in convincing the powers at Warner Bros. TV to rehire Charlie or if he'd accept their offer if one is made.
