Three peopl were killed and many others injured following an outbreak of religious violence in Kafanchan town of Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the violence has created tension in the town. Two women were among the dead while two others are said to have received bullet wounds.

Kafanchan town was one of the most affected areas in Kaduna State during the violence in some parts of the North after the 2011 elections.

When contacted, the police area commander, Adam Elihu, declined comment but the Kaduna State commissioner of police, Ballah Magaji Nasarawa, confirmed the violence and said “the command was still gathering reports on the situation and will confirm the number of casualties later”.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the violence started at about 10am yesterday following the discovery of a corpse at Ungwan Katsit, behind the Emir of Jama’a’s palace.

It was not clear what led to the deaths at the time of filing this report. But sources said the deceased was an Hausa Fulani man believed to have participated in the killings and burning of houses during the post-election violence in Kafanchan.

However, informed sources told LEADERSHIP that the deceased and four others, who were said to be on the wanted list of the youths in the area, suddenly appeared and were allegedly planning another attack on the Katsit people. This caused the youths in the area to set bonfire on major streets, smash vehicles at sight, leading to people scampering for safety.

It was also gathered that security men, including soldiers on guard at specific places in the town, ran for cover but resurfaced a few minutes later to engage the rampaging youths in a shootout.

Roads leading to Kagoro and Kwoi towns from Kafanchan were heavily barricaded by the rioting youths, who stopped people from going in and coming out of the crisis-ridden town, particularly people who resumed offices yesterday after the Sallah holidays.

The Secretary of the Jama’atul Nasir Islam (JNI), Jema’a LGA, Alhaji Iliya Kall, said, “The truth of the situation is that a Muslim boy had a Christian friend in Katsit, and went to his house to pass a night, but, on reaching there, the people of the area killed him. And the boy whom the deceased visited reported the matter to the people and, before we could do anything the Hausa youths started protesting.”

Meanwhile, a 24-hour curfew has been imposed on Kafanchan. The chairman of Jema’a local government, Mr. Yunana Markus Barde, who made the announcement, ordered soldiers to take over the security situation of the LGA.

He said the curfew would be strictly observed until normalcy returns, adding that anyone caught violating the order would be decisively dealt with.
Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, through his special adviser on religious affairs (Christian matters) Reverend Joseph John Hayab, has appealed to citizens of the state to remain calm as security measures have been taken to protect life and property in the state.

“Our youths must be familiar with core values and norms that characterize our glorious past, with the aim of renewing the trend so that our children will have a different and positive orientation far from the ongoing challenge. Government will continue to ensure that it provides a serene atmosphere and ensure peaceful coexistence and harmony among people of the state,” the statement reads in part.

A competent security source said three people were killed, four cars and a house burnt. The 24-hour curfew is in two LGAs, Jema’a and Zangon Kataf. But security has been beefed up in the whole state. Yakawo and security chiefs in the state are likely to be in Kafanchan this morning for first hand information and meeting with stakeholders.

As at the time of filing this report there was still exchange of fire between the two warring sides.

A top government official, who pleaded for anonymity, told LEADERSHIP that “there is still exchange of fire between the two religious bodies despite the curfew imposed by the government. I cannot tell you how many people are dead now, because it is night. but, I can confirm to you there are a number of casualties in all the warring sides.  Places of worship, the general market, houses of prominent persons have been raze down, there are gunshots everywhere in the town.”
According to the source, “despite high security presence the riot is still on-going. The military have been drafted from Saminaka, Kaduna and some from Abuja. Security has been beefed up.”

Some of the Houses razed down, LEADERSHIP learnt, are that of Alhaji Ahmadu Abba along Jagindi street, that of deputy Imam, Kafanchan Alhaji Sani, the House of former Council Chairman of Jema’a Barister Gideon Morik, among others.

The violent is on the dividing line between the predominantly Christian south and Muslim north

Abeokuta — Senator Adegbenga Kaka has advocated a conditional amnesty for public officials that looted public purse to ensure that the looted funds could be returned into the country for productive use.

The senator, who is representing Ogun East senatorial district, spoke at the Correspondents' Chapel programme tagged: "Correspondents' Dialogue" in Abeokuta, emphasizing that the best way to retrieve the alleged stolen money by corrupt individuals that have been stashed away within and outside Nigeria was to provide what he called "conditional amnesty."

He explained that a comprehensive list of such individuals should be made public by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) so that they would be granted amnesty to enable them bring back part of the money.

"Our stolen money that is in foreign lands is more than enough to bail us out of the mess we are in now. Our stolen money that is lying idle within the shores of Nigeria is more than enough to energise our developmental efforts. So, we may have to consider granting conditional amnesty to all the treasury looters whether civil, private or public servants," he said.

"Conditional in the sense that, EFCC will do a thorough job along with ICPC and other agencies to get us a comprehensive list of the amounts looted and where the money is being hidden and we will now give them, the amnesty on the condition that within six month, the stolen money should be brought back into the country," the lawmaker said.

He added that, "we must invest this money in productive ventures. Productive venture like electricity, mass transit programme, agriculture and education that will make the future secure for the next generation. Those looters who fail to meet up within two years should now be made to face the music. If need be capital punishment, because they did not wish us well," the senator said.

In spite of his exclusion in the gubernatorial race by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Poeples Democratic Party (PDP), embattled Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, says he will formally declare for his re-election on Saturday in Yenagoa,

 Huhuonline.com reports.

Governor Sylva remained uncleared as the PDP has so far cleared seven governorship aspirants which include, Fred Ekiyegha, Francis Doukpola, Austin Ogionwo-Febo, Seriake Dickson, Bolobo Orufa, Christopher Enai and Michael Kalango for the November 19 primaries.

Huhuonline.com sources have disclosed that over 300 political groups loyal to Governor Sylva in the state have concluded arrangements to participate at his formal declaration at the popular Samson Siasia Sports Complex.

Investigation revealed that Sylva decided to declare his ambition to contest the primaries to show his popularity in the PDP in the state and to also ensure his supporters emerge at next Monday’s ward delegate election in the state.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information, Communication and Strategy, Nathan Egba, has confirmed Sylva’s preparation to formally declare his intention to run as governor of the state under the ruling PDP for the second time, despite the Party’s refusal to clear him for the election.

“We are aware that a new list was rumoured to have been released by the party and we are preparing for the primaries too. The governor is set to prepare for the ward congress and the state primariesh” he said.

In the same development, pro-Sylva groups in the state led by seven members of the National Assembly and a member of the Inter-Party Advisory Council of the Independent National Electoral Commission (IPAC-INEC), Sunday Frank-Oputu, in separate letters to the PDP, had faulted the leadership of the party over its decision to exclude Governor Sylva in the primaries as they queried the criteria used by the party, alleging that the action of the National Working Committee of the party was at variance with the constitution of the party.

For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

Number priority for some Korean mums is "111111"

Last updated 13:26 10/11/2011

Expecting mothers in South Korea have inundated hospitals with requests for a Caesarean section delivery on November 11 to secure the unique life-long identity number of "111111" for their children.

The Korean Resident Registration Number, an identification number for all residents in Korea, is composed of 13 numbers with the first six numbers corresponding to the date of birth.

The number of appointments for c-section births on November 11 was 20 per cent higher this year than previous years. Expecting mothers who are due even a week after the date have scheduled to give birth on November 11, Seoul Newspaper said.

"There's always people with due dates in January who want to deliver on the first of the month, but this seems more unusual - trying to set delivery so they can have the ID number 111111," a staffer at a maternity clinic was quoted as saying.

November 11 is known as Pepero Day, or Sweetest Day, in South Korea and is similar to Valentine's Day. It was named after the Korean snack Pepero, because the date 11/11 resembles five sticks of Pepero.

11/11/11 (a.k.a. 11-11-11); Friday, November 11, 2011: Mathematics

The number eleven is the fifth prime number (contrary to popular belief, the number one ( 1 ) is not a prime number).

The base numeric number system lends itself to some interesting peculiarities as relates to the number eleven.

Base 10 for example:

(2 digits) 11 x 11 = 121

(6 digits) 111111 x 111111 = 12345654321

(9 digits) 111111111 x 111111111 = 12345678987654321

Base 16 (hexadecimal) for example:

(2 digits) 11 x 11 = 121

(6 digits) 111111 x 111111 = 12345654321

(9 digits) 111111111 x 111111111 = 12345678987654321

Blackjack players love the number eleven. It usually means time to double down, but not always.

Dice players love the number eleven. On the come-out roll, it’s as good as the number seven. Do not ask the crap dealers how to bet 11 the hardway…

The number eleven is a popular lottery number. This results in the per-person payouts being a little below average when eleven is one of the winning numbers.

The number eleven is a popular keno number. One wonders if the casinos and slot machine manufacturers make use of that fact…

President Eisenhower signing HR7786, changing Armistice Day to Veterans Day.

11/11/11; Friday, November 11, 2011: Veterans Day (formerly known as Armistice Day)

(Source: United States Department of Veterans Affairs):

<start>

World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” - officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles outside the town of Versailles, France.

However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.”

<end>

It is very likely that Veterans Day will be remembered/observed/celebrated much more than usual on November 11th, 2011.

The Great Blue Norther of 11/11/11:

"One-hundred years ago, November 11th, 1911: The Great Blue Norther descended upon America. The day started fine; there were even record highs for that time of year. Then it all changed; temperatures began to drop. Within the space of ten minute: the temperature dropped 40 to 50 degrees; by midnight a 66 degree temperature drop was recorded. There were dust storms, thunderstorms, tornados, and blizzards. Over 300 deaths were reported."

In the interests of full disclosure: NOAA.gov reports that sudden 50 degree temperature drops, though unusual, are not that rare. See chart below.

The Great Blue Norther acquired its name not from the extreme temperature changes, but from the accompanying weather phenomena.

11/11/11 (a.k.a. 11-11-11); Friday, November 11, 2011: Singularity Summary

Most predictions and opinions concerning 11/11/11 are based on or rooted in its mathematical uniqueness as a number.

11*11*11: There are three possible scenarios:

1. Something good happens— There is absolutely no scientific basis for this belief. There are no known logical premises for this belief. The belief that something good will happen is based solely on spiritualism, faith, and/or innate optimism. This belief is not necessarily a bad thing; we don’t know everything; the probability is not zero.

2. Nothing happens— This is the most likely scenario. Just because an unusual date number sequence occurs doesn’t mean that something extraordinary will happen. Usually it’s a non-event.

3. Something bad happens— There is absolutely no scientific basis for this belief. There are no known logical premises for this belief. The belief that something bad will happen is based solely on pessimism of reality. This belief is not necessarily false; after all, things are generally/usually a mess. The probability is not zero.

There will be a National Emergency Alert Test in the U.S. today at 2:00 PM, Eastern Standard Time. Every TV broadcast, cable channel, satellite, and radio station is supposed to be a part of it.

Meanwhile, at ~ 7:40 AM PST, the Surveys One & Two percentages remain essentially unchanged to within one percentage point..

The U.S. stock market is unhappy with Italy. The DOW closed down ~390 points and the NASDAQ closed down 100+ points.

Survey percentages remain constant. Survey Two turnout approaching 10K (9,860).

It should be noted that it is already November 10th in Asia, Australia, Philippines, etc. In other words, 11.11.11 is already less than 24 hours away for many people.

4:00 PM PST USA (Nov. 9th ), Survey Two reaches 10,019 votes. Results remain steadfast.

71% felt lucky on the day they filled out the poll. 29% said they did not feel lucky that particular day.

Day 11.11.11 ~~ November 11, 2011

Day 11.11.11 has already begun in certain parts of the world. A good very early morning to New Zealand and Eastern Russia.

As 11.11.11 begins its march across the planet, here is the first of many Survey One and Survey Two month-to-date results for archival purposes.

46% believe something good will happen on a global scale.
41% believe nothing significant will happen on a global scale.
12% believe something bad will happen on a global scale.
13,547 people have voted in this poll to date. 71% felt lucky on the day they filled out the poll. 29% said they did not feel lucky that particular day. 10,894 people have voted in this poll to date.

A Macedonian woman living in Germany allegedly killed her husband, cut his body into pieces, and flushed them down the toilet.

So much for the British report earlier this week that said couples file en masse for divorce after spending too much time together over the holidays.

Apparently a 52-year-old woman in Dusseldorf, Germany took things several steps further. Instead of filing for divorce, she allegedly murdered her husband, chopped his body into pieces, and flushed them one by one down the toilet.

It is well-reported that crime rates, especially those of a domestic nature, often rise during holiday periods. Too much time spent together, combined with excessive use of alcohol at holiday parties, and having to deal with family members can all converge together into a violent situation.

The woman, who was born in Macedonia, and her 58-year-old taxi-driver husband had a "spiteful" marriage. Neither of their names have been released to the public.

The couple's children had reported their father missing right around Christmastime, and told police that their mother had said to them, "You won't find him, I've flushed him down the toilet."

The children had also told police that their parents' marriage had been "steeped in hatred." The woman had previously attacked her husband with a hammer and tried to poison him, though he never filed charges, according to German media sources.

When police arrived at the couple's home, they found freshly painted walls. But using technology designed to detect traces of blood, they discovered the missing man's blood on the walls and in the hallway, as well as on and in the toilet.

It is believed that the woman kept the larger pieces of her husband's body in garbage bags and attempted to leave them at a public incineration site.

She has fled Germany for Macedonia, say officials, and while an international warrant for her arrest has been issued, Macedonia does not have an extradition relationship with Germany.

Neighbors reported to police that on the night of the apparent murder, they "heard a toilet continuously flushing" all night.

brain_washing_267415.jpg?w=406&h=500&width=406

Were in the 21st Century and most Nigerians are still debating over whether or not the media has any real power over peoples minds. Can you believe that?!

Media is into brainwashing BIG TIME! And we are their guinea pigs, brainwashed 24-7 by television and radio. They tell us what to eat, what to wear, who to love, what is right and wrong, who we should be, what our priorities should. And anyone who dares go against the grain of the media programming is considered dated and weird. In some cases the persecution might even go as far as murder.

We are living in desperate times. Things that were deemed unacceptable in the past is common practice today; Adultery, lewd dressing, foul language, homosexuality, pant sagging, drug abuse, terrorism, sex-tapes, gang life, you name it! But today they are the norm. And who do we have to thank for all this?

HOLLYWOOD  a.k.a MK-ULTRA!

I stumbled on this interesting piece on the internet  that substantiates my argument.I am sure you’ll find it insightful:

brainwashing2.jpg?w=256&h=229&width=256The subconcscious is powerful. It is aware of every particle and detail around you. But it doesn’t know the difference between fact or fiction and acts on all information passing through the conscious mind as fact, and responds to it. So what do you think happens when you watch silly, moron, goofy commercials and television programs? They are training your thought processes.

Hey buddy, I’m talking to you. Yes, you, the guy sitting in front of the television. Turn down the sound a bit, so that you can hear what I am saying. Now, try to concentrate on what I am going to say. I want to talk to you about your favorite pastime. No, it’s not baseball or football, although it does have something to do with your interest in spectator sports. I’m talking about what you were just doing: watching television.

Do you have any idea about how much time you spend in front of the television set? According to the latest studies, the average American now spends between five and six hours a day watching television. Let’s put that in perspective: that is more time than you spend doing anything else but sleeping or working, if you are lucky enough to still have a job.

That’s more time than you spend eating, more time than you spend with your wife alone, more time than with the kids. It’s even worse with your children. According to these same studies, young children below school age watch more than eight hours each day. School age children watch a little under eight hours a day. In 1980, the average 20-year-old had watched the equivalent of 14 months of television in his or her brief lifetime. {That’s 14 months, 24 hours a day.}

More recent figures show that the numbers have climbed: the 20-year-old has spent closer to two full years of his or her life in front of the television set. At the same time, the researchers have noted a disturbing phenomena. It seems that we Americans are getting progressively more {stupid}. They note a decline in reading and comprehension levels in all age groups tested. Americans read less and understand what they read less than they did 10 years ago, less than they have at any time since research began to study such things.

As for writing skills, Americans are, in general, unable to write more than a few simple sentences. We are among the least literate people on this planet, and we’re getting worse. It’s the change–the constant trendline downward–that interests these researchers. More than one study has correlated this increasing stupidity of our population to the amount of television they watch.

Interestingly, the studies found that it doesn’t matter what people watch, whether it’s “The Simpsons” or “McNeil/Lehrer,” or “Murphy Brown” or “Nightline’:’ the more television you watch, the {less literate, the more stupid} you are. The growth in television watching had surprised some of the researchers. Back a decade ago, they were predicting that television watching would level off and might actually decline. It had reached an absolute saturation point.

They were right for so-called network television; figures show a steady dropoff of viewership. But that drop is more than made up for by the growth of cable television, with its smorgasbord of channels, one for almost every perversion. Especially in urban and suburban areas, Americans are hard-wired to more than 100 different channels that provide them with all news, like CNN, all movies, all comedy, all sports, all weather, all financial news and a liberal dose of straight pornography.

The researchers had also failed to predict the market penetration of first beta and then VHS video recorders; they made it possible to watch one thing and record another for later viewing. They also offered access to movies not available on networks or even cable channels as well as home videos, recorded on your own little camcorder. The proliferation of home video equipment has involved families in video-related activities which are not even considered in the cumulative totals for time Americans spend watching television.

You might not actually realize how much you are watching television. But think for a moment. When you come home, you turn the television on, if it isn’t on already. You read the paper with it on, half glancing at what is on the screen, catching a bit of the news, or the plot of a show. You eat with it on, maybe in the background, listening for a score or something that happens to a character in a show you follow.

When something you are interested in, a show or basketball game, is on, the set becomes the center of attention. So your attention to what is on may vary in intensity, but there is almost no point when you are home, and inside, and have the set completely off. Isn’t that right? The studies did not break down the periods of time people watched television, according to the intensity of their viewing.

But the point is still made: you compulsively turn the television on and spend a good portion of your waking hours glued to the tube. And the studies also showed that many people can’t sleep without the television turned on! Brainwashing Now, I’m sure you have heard that watching too much television is bad for your health. They put stories like that on the evening news. Bad for your eyes to stare at the screen, they say. Especially bad if you sit too close. Well, I want to make another point.

We’ve already shown that you are addicted to the tube, watching it between six and eight hour a day. But it is an addiction that {brainwashes} you. There are two kinds of brainwashing. The one that’s called {hard} brainwashing is the type you’re most familiar with. You’ve got a pretty good image of it from some of those old Korean war movies. They take some guy, an American patriot, drag him into a room, torture him, pump him full of drugs, and after a struggle, get him to renounce his country and his beliefs. He usually undergoes a personality change, signified by an ever-present smile and blank stare.

This brainwashing is called {hard} because its methods are overt. The controlled environment is obvious to the victim; so is the terror. The victim is overwhelmed by a seemingly omnipotent external force, and a feeling of intense isolation is induced. The victim’s moral strength is sapped, and slowly he embraces his torturers. It is man’s moral strength that informs and orders his power of reason; without it, the mind becomes little more than a recording machine waiting for imprints. No one is saying that you have been a victim of {hard} brainwashing. But you have been brainwashed, just as effectively as those people in the movies. The blank stare? Did you ever look at what you look like while watching television?

If the angle is right, you might catch your own reflection in the screen. Jaw slightly open, lips relaxed into a smile. The blank stare of a television zombie. This is {soft} brainwashing, even more effective because its victims go about their lives unaware of what is being done to them. Television, with its reach into nearly every American home, creates the basis for the mass brainwashing of citizens, like you.

It works on a principle of {tension and release}. Create tension, in a controlled environment, increasing the level of stress. Then provide a series of choices that provide release from the tension. As long as the victim believes that the choices presented are the {only} choices available, even if they are at first glance unacceptable, he will nevertheless, ultimately seek release by choosing one of these unacceptable choices. Under these circumstances, in a brainwashing, controlled environment, such choice-making is not a “rational” experience. It does not involve the use of man’s creative mental powers; instead man is conditioned, like an animal, to respond to the tension, by seeking release.

The key to the success of this brainwashing process is the regulation of both the tension and the perceived choices. As long as both are controlled, then the range of outcomes is also controlled. The victim is induced to walk down one of several pathways acceptable for his controllers. The brainwashers call the tension-filled environment {social turbulence}. The last decades have been full of such {social turbulence}–economic collapse, regional wars, population disasters, ecological and biological catastrophes. {Social turbulence} creates crises in perceptions, causing people to lose their bearings.

Adrift and confused, people seek release from the tension, following paths that appear to lead to a simpler, less tension-filled life. There is no time in such a process for rational consideration of complicated problems. Television is the key vehicle for presenting both the tension and the choices. It brings you the images of the tension, and serves up simple answers. Television, in its world of semi-reality, of illusion, of escape from reality, {is itself the single most important release from our tension-wracked existence.} Eight hours a day, every day, through its programming, you are being programmed.

If you doubt me, think about one important choice that you have made recently that was not in some way influenced by something that you have seen on television. I bet you can’t think of one. That’s how controlled you are. Who’s Doing It But don’t take my word for it. Ten years ago we spoke to a man from a think tank called the Futures Group in Connecticut. Hal Becker had spent more than 20 years of his life manipulating the minds of the leaders of our society. Listen to what he said: {“I know the secret of making the average American believe anything I want him to. Just let me control television.

Americans are wired into their television sets. Over the last 30 years, they have come to look at their television sets and the images on the screen as reality. You put something on television and it becomes reality. If the world outside the television set contradicts the images, people start changing the world to make it more like the images and sounds of their television.

Because its influence is so great, so pervasive, it has become part of our lives. You lose your sense of what is being done to you, but your mind is being shaped and moulded.”} “Your mind is being shaped and moulded.” If that doesn’t sound like brainwashing, I don’t know what is. Becker speaks with the elan of a network of brainwashers who have been programming your lives, especially since the advent of television as a “mass medium” in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

This network numbers several tens of thousands worldwide. Occasionally one appears on the nightly news to tell you what {you} are thinking, by reporting the latest “opinion polls.” But for the most part, they work behind the scenes, speaking to themselves and writing papers for their own internal distribution. And though they work for many diverse groups, these brainwashers are united by a common world view and common method. It is the world view of a small elite, whose financial and political power rests in institutions that pass this power on from generation to generation.

They view the common folk like yourself as little better than beasts of burden to be controlled and manipulated by a semi-feudal international oligarchy, whose wealth, power and bloodlines entitle them to rule. One of the oligarchy’s institutions for manipulation of populations is located in a suburb of London called Tavistock. The Tavistock Institute for Human Relations, which also has a branch in Sussex, England, is the “mother” for much of this extended network, of which Becker is a member. They are the specialists in {both} hard and soft brainwashing.

The Tavistock Institute is the psychological warfare arm of the British Royal household. The oligarchs behind Tavistock, and similar outfits in the United States and elsewhere, are determined that you should be a television addict, sucking up a daily dose of brainwashing from the “tube;” that is how they control you. Like his fellow brainwashers, Becker prides himself in knowing the minds of his victims.

He calls them “saps.” Man, he told an interviewer, should be called “homo the sap.” “Soft” brainwashing by television works through power of suggestion. Television watching creates a state of drugged-like oblivion to outside reality. The mind, its perceptions dulled by habituated viewing, is ready to accept any new illusion of reality as presented on the tube. The mind, in its drugged-like stupor of television watching, is prepared to accept that the images that television {suggests} as reality {are} reality. It will then struggle to form fit a contradictory reality into television image, just as Becker claims. Another Tavistock brainwasher, Fred Emery, who studied television for 25 years, confirms this.

The television signal itself, he found, puts the viewer in this state of drugged-like oblivion. Emery writes: “Television as a media consists of a constant visual signal of 50 half-frames per second. Our hypotheses regarding this essential nature of the medium itself are:
“1) The constant visual stimulus fixates the viewer and causes the habituation of response. The prefrontal and association areas of the cortex are effectively dominated by the signal, the screen.
“2) The left cortical hemisphere–the center of visual and analytical calculating processes–is effectively reduced in its functioning to tracking changing images on the screen.
“3) Therefore, provided, the viewer keeps looking, he is unlikely to reflect on what he is doing and what he is viewing. That is, he will be aware, but unaware of his awareness….“In other words, television can be seen partly as the technological analogue of the hypnotist.”

The key to making the brainwashing work is the {repetition of suggestion} over time. With people watching the tube for 6 to 8 hours a day, there is plenty of time for such repeated suggestion. Some Examples Let’s look at an example to make things a bit clearer. Think back about 20 years ago. Think about what you thought about certain issues of the day. Think about those same issues today; notice how you seemed to change {your} mind about them, to become more tolerant of things you opposed vehemently before. It’s your television watching that changed your mind, or to use Becker’s terms, “shaped your perceptions.”

Twenty years ago, most people thought that the lunacy that is now called environmentalism, the idea that animals and plants should be protected on an equal basis with human life, was screwy. It went against the basic concept of Christian civilization that man is a higher species than and distinct from the animals, and that it is man, by virtue of his being made in the image of the living God, whose life is sacred. That was 20 years ago. But now, many people, maybe even you, seem to think otherwise; there are even laws that say so. This contrary, anti-human view of man being no more than equal to animals and plants was inserted into our consciousness by the suggestion of television. Environmental lunacy was scripted into network television shows, into televised movies, and into the news. It started slowly, but picked up steam. Environmental spokesmen were increasingly seen in the favorable glow of television.

Those who opposed this view were shown in an unfavorable way. It was done over time, with repetition. If you weren’t completely won over, you were made tolerant of the views of environmental lunatics whose statements were morally and scientifically unsound. Let’s take a more recent example: the war against Iraq. That was a war made for television. In fact, it was a war {organized} through television. Think back a year: How were Americans prepared for the eventual slaughter of Iraqi women and children? Images on the screen: Saddam Hussein, on one side, Hitler on the other.

The images repeated in newscasts, backed up by scenes of alleged atrocities in Kuwait. Then the war itself: the video-game like images of “smart” weapons killing Iraqi targets. Finally, the American military commander-in-chief Gen. Norman Schwartzkopf, conducting a final press briefing that was consciously orchestrated to resemble the winning Superbowl coach describing his victory.
Those were the images that overwhelmed our population. Only now, months later, do we find out that the images had nothing to do with reality. The Iraqi “atrocities” in Kuwait and elsewhere were exaggerated. Our “smart” weapons like the famous Patriot anti-missile system didn’t really work.

Oh, and the casualty figures: it seems that we murdered far more women and children than we did soldiers. Hardly a “glorious victory.” But while it might have made a difference if people knew this while the war was being planned or in progress, polls show that Americans no longer find the war or any stories about it “interesting.”

Looking at the question more broadly, where did your children get most of theirbrainwashing-3.jpg?w=320&h=281&width=320 values, if not from what they saw on television? Parents might counteract the influence of the infernal box, but they could not overcome it. How could they, if they themselves have been brainwashed by the same box and if their children spend more time with it than them? Studies show that most of television programming is geared to a less than 5th grade comprehension level; parents, like you, are themselves being remade in the infantile images of the television screen. All of society becomes more infantile, more easily controllable.

As Emery explains: {“We are proposing that television as a simple constant and repetitive and ambiguous visual stimulus, gradually closes down the central nervous system of man.”} Becker holds a similar view of the effect of television on American’s ability to think:
{“Americans don’t really think–they have opinions and feelings. Television creates the opinion and then validates it.”}

Nowhere is this clearer than with politics. Television tells Americans what to think about politicians, restricting choices to those acceptable to the oligarchs whose financial power controls networks and major cable channels. It tells people what has been said and what is “important.” Everything else is filtered out. You are told who can win and who can’t. And few people have the urge to look behind the images in the screen, to seek content and truth in ideas and look for a high quality of leadership.

Such an important matter as choosing a president becomes the same as choosing a box of laundry detergent: a set of possibilities, whose limits are determined, by the images on the screen. You are given the appearance of freedom of choice, but that you have neither freedom nor real choice. That is how the brainwashing works. “Are they brainwashed by the tube,” said Becker to the interviewer. “It is really more than that. I think that people have lost the ability to relate the images of their own lives without television intervening to tell them what it means. That is what we really mean when we say that we have a wired society.” Turn It Off! That was ten years ago. It has gotten far worse since then.

In coming issues, we will show you the brainwashers’ vision of a hell on earth and how television is being used to get us there; we will discuss television programming, revealing how it has helped produce what is called a “paradigm” shift in values, creating an immoral society; we will explain how the news is presented and how its presentation has been used to destroy the English language; we will discuss the mass entertainment media, showing who controls it and how; we will deal with America’s addiction to spectator sports and show how that too has helped make you passive and stupid; and finally, we will show where we are headed, if we can’t break our addiction to the tube.

So, after what I just told you, what do say, buddy? Do you want to stay stupid and let your country go to hell in a basket? Why don’t you just walk over to the set and turn it off. That’s right, completely off. Go on, you can do it. Now isn’t that better? Don’t you feel a little better already? You’ve just taken the first step in deprogramming yourself. It wasn’t that hard, was it? Until we speak again, try to keep it off. Now that will be a bit harder.

On May 2 2004, I wrote a very similar article to this one, about brainwashing and the Tavistock Institute. It was the first in my Couch Patriot series (http://www.rense.com/general52/couch.htm).
Their subversion of thought not just in America but around the world is well known. Is it any wonder that satellite dish television is being brought to the most remote corners of the earth, even if a solar panel is required ?
Although it’s easy to focus just on brainwashing of Americans, in reality the entire world is at stake.

That’s more time than you spend eating, more time than you spend with your wife alone, more time than with the kids. It’s even worse with your children. According to these same studies, young children below school age watch more than eight hours each day. School age children watch a little under eight hours a day. In 1980, the average 20-year-old had watched the equivalent of 14 months of television in his or her brief lifetime. {That’s 14 months, 24 hours a day.}

Television, in its world of semi-reality, of illusion, of escape from reality, {is itself the single most important release from our tension-wracked existence.} Eight hours a day, every day, through its programming, you are being programmed.

{“Americans don’t really think–they have opinions and feelings. Television creates the opinion and then validates it.”}

The Christian Ventriloquist

12166322665?profile=original

As I was brooding over this blog topic, an old TV show I watched as a kid flashed through my mind. I don't recall the title but if you are about my age, you probably watched it too when you were in your preteens. It was a show that featured a ventriloquist having conversations with his dummy cat. I thought the performance was ingenious; watching the ventriloquist cast his voice and make it sound like it came from the dummy cat. It was a very convincing performance for a child my age back then. It was only years later, when I read one of Alfred Hitcock's novels that I first learned of the term "ventriloquism" and of the art behind it.

Years later I drew wisdom from that childhood experience. I was once listened to a speaker and he talked about how we humans rarely  learn something new from life because we assume we have learned all that there is to know about a thing. We look at a bird or a flower and we say “bird” , “flower”. And assume there is nothing more to learn from them. So we miss out on greater revelations that may have been lurking beneath the surface; a deeper understanding of things that could revolutionize and transform our lives (and probably the world) if we were just open minded and curious enough to let nature teach us something new from that which we are already  think we know.

As I thought deeply on that teaching, I realized that in the speaker’s context, we often act as ventriloquists. We think nature is dumb and can’t speak to us so we speak on nature’s behalf, concluding that there can’t be more to learn from a thing or experience than we already known. So we look at things and all we hear is our own voice.

It dawned on me a few years ago that I was, surprisingly, a Christian ventriloquist. I’d read the Bible and instead of letting the Bible speak to me, I would conclude on what I thought the scriptures meant. And this is typical for most Christians. John 3:16 never means more than “ For God so loved the word….blah blah blah….everlasting life. Faith never means more than “.. the substance of things hoped for…blah blah blah…..things not seen”. We quote it parrot-like, not giving any more thought to it than we initially did.  No wonder we rarely get new revelations from the Word of God. If God has been offering new revelations from that Bible text and all we ever listened to is the voice in our head, we will definitely miss out on new understanding that could have unleashed fresh blessings in our lives.

When I stopped being a Christian ventriloquist, I began to receive empowering revelations from the Bible. I couldn’t have anticipated the depth of wisdom that I was seeing in the Proverbs, Hebrews 11 & 12, Genesis 1&2, Joshua, Ephesians , etc.  It’s been an amazing experience. I’ve been healed and blessed in ways I never thought possible. I would have missed out on all these if I hadn’t kept an open mind.

I got up about 4am to write this article because it’s been brewing in my heart for over a week. I had to share these words with you. It’s important that we realize that all great men acquired the habit of refusing to let stereotypes hinder them from learning something extraordinary from the ordinary, the uncommon from the mundane. After all, isn’t that what creativity is all about; the attitude of seeing or approaching things differently. In the same way, we must be willing to see and approach our faith and scriptures with a teachable spirit and desist from being the Christian Ventriloquist!

bowel_movement.pngIt may not be a topic typically talked about at the dinner table or a cocktail party, but most people are actually somewhat obsessed with it. And with good reason: The state of your gastro-intestinal tract (as well as the quality and quantity of its output) is a great barometer of the health of your body. “The GI tract is a processing unit that metabolizes all of the nutrients you take in and eliminates all of the body’s waste,” explains Dr. Amy Foxx-Orenstein, president of the American College of Gastroenterology. “What comes through it is reflective of how well or how ill the body is.”

Hard and dry
The amount of time it takes for the food you eat to make its way through the gastro-intestinal system and exit into the toilet will have an impact on the consistency of your stool. “Intestinal transit averages 40 to 45 hours from when you eat to when it comes out,” says Foxx-Orenstein. If it stays in the GI tract for longer than that, fluid is re-absorbed into the body and the stool becomes harder and dryer. Certain medications—like blood pressure drugs, antidepressants and histamines—can slow down the GI tract. Constipation, which has a myriad of causes, will lead to harder, drier stools (since you’re going less often, your stool will stall in the system and the fluid re-absorbed). For some people, a diet high in dairy can be a cause of constipation, so if you are experiencing problems going (and have dry, hard-to-pass stool when you do finally go), it is worth reducing your dairy intake for a week or two to see if that helps. And being dehydrated can also lead to this problem because if the body is lacking in water, it will draw it—and conserve it—from wherever it can find it.

Little lumps
“An ideal stool looks like a torpedo—it should be large, soft, fluffy and easy to pass,” says Foxx-Orenstein. But when conditions are less than ideal, the stool may become more like little deer pellets. Again, transit time may be part of the issue because slow-moving stool will lose fluid, making them less fluffy and lumpier. A lack of fiber in the diet may also to be to blame. Beware if you’re following a weight-loss plan (such as Atkins) that focuses on increasing protein and decreasing carbohydrates, since that can leave you with a diet that’s low in fiber. And since fiber holds on to fluid, a lack of it will lead to harder, pellet-like poops that may be more difficult to pass.

Too liquid
Your body secretes about eight liters of fluid during the course of a day—from the stomach, salivary glands and pancreas—to help your food get broken down and make its way through the digestive system. Under normal, healthy conditions, the majority of that fluid is absorbed along the way, resulting in those sought-after soft, fluffy stools. But if food passes through too quickly, there isn’t enough time for all of that liquid to absorb, and the stool emerges in a too-soft state. The reasons for such super-quick transit could include a sudden increase in fiber in the diet, or a bacterial or viral infection. “When there is an infection, the body produces toxins which cause water to be released,” says Dr. Michael Farber, director of the Executive Health Program at Hackensack University Medical Center. “Things move through very quickly through your system because the body wants to get rid of them.”

Pencil thin
Thin may be the preferable state for many things—figures, cell phones, television screens—but when it comes to bowel movements, thin is definitely not a good thing. Specifically, thin stools could be an indicator of colon cancer, or its precursor, polyps in the colon. “Whenever you have mass in the colon that creates blockage, anything that needs to be pushed past that mass will become thinner,” Farber says. “If you are seeing thin stools on a consistent basis, that it something you should have looked at by your doctor.”

Looking pale or gray
Normal stool can come in a range of colors (influenced by what you eat and what medications you take, among other factors). But if your stool has an unhealthy hue, particularly if it’s pale or grayish in tone, you could have problems somewhere along your digestive tract. The liver excretes bile to help break down fats in the food you eat, and that bile also adds color to the stool. But if there’s a blockage in the liver—or in the tubes through which the bile travels—the stool might take on a too-pale appearance. Also, if you are suffering from a pancreatic disorder, the stool might look gray because it will be lacking the color imbued by the digestive enzymes produced in that organ.

Bright red
Your first instinct upon seeing red-colored stool in the toilet would probably be to panic. But before you speed-dial your doctor, think about what you ate several hours ago—if it was beets or bright red popsicles, that might be the culprit for creating those colored stools. But if it’s obviously a streak of red blood in the stool, in the toilet, or on the toilet paper, then it’s a given that you’re bleeding somewhere inside. There’s still not necessarily any reason to panic—the cause could be something as benign as a hemorrhoid or just a small fissure caused by straining to go. That said, it’s a wise idea to discuss with your doctor if you are straining often since that can lead to painful hemorrhoids. Also, if you’ve never seen blood before it’s definitely worth having your doctor rule out more serious causes—like colon cancer.

Too dark
If your stool is suddenly black and looks sort of tar-like, the culprit could be lurking in your dailythe_bowel_movement-360x307.jpg?width=300 vitamin pill. Iron supplementation (on its own or when it’s included in a multi-vitamin) can have that effect on the stool. But if you haven’t recently started taking extra iron and you see this sort of change, you should make an appointment to see your doctor. “If there is bleeding higher up in the GI tract—like the stomach or esophagus—the result can be stool that looks black and tar-like,” says Foxx-Orenstein. “It’s very useful information for the doctor to know if what you’re seeing is black or bright red because that gives a clue to the location of the bleeding.” In either case, she strongly urges anyone who is seeing blood in their stool to get checked out by their doctor.

It floats (and stinks!)
Those ideal torpedo-like poops should sink when they hit they hit the toilet. But when the body isn’t properly absorbing fat from the food you eat, it ends up being excreted in your stool. The result: stool that’s yellowish in color, greasy in consistency, foul smelling, and that floats in the toilet. Certain medical conditions, like celiac disease, can cause these malabsorption problems. And since essential nutrients could also be lost along with the un-absorbed fat, it’s important to see your doctor if you experience this problem. These fatty, smelly stools are also one of the more unpleasant side effects of eating foods that contain Olestra (the faux fat found in some chips and other fried snacks) or of taking the weight loss drugXenical or its over-the-counter cousin, Alli.

Not going
How often is normal? How much is too much? Or not enough? Everyone wonders if they’re spending too much—or too little—time on the toilet. Turns out, there is no one right answer. “There is no true ideal for how frequent your bowel movements should be,” Foxx-Orenstein says. “What’s ‘normal’ is going to be different for different people.” Once a day, three times a day, every other day—all of these could very well fall within the definition of normal and healthy bowel movements. But if you experience a change in your normal pattern, then you need to look at what might be causing it. If you’re suddenly going too much, it could be because you’ve recently increased the amount of fiber in your diet. That’s a good thing, but it will take the body a little while to adjust to the change. And if you are suddenly dealing with constipation, look first at what changes you’ve made to your diet. “If you’re not eating enough fiber, not eating breakfast [which helps get things moving in the morning], or just not eating enough food, you may be constipated because your body’s not able to produce enough waste,” says Foxx-Orenstein.
