Ambrose Alli University Sex-For-Grades Update: Dr. Otubu Fired; Judith Okosun Suspended For Six Semesters
Judith Okosun, the 400-level Mechanical Engineering student at the centre of the July 2010 sex-for-grades scandal at the Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State, has been suspended for six semesters.
In a report, THE NEWS said that Engr. Peter Otubu, the lecturer whose demand of sexual favours in exchange for good grades led to the crisis, was fired by the University, this was confirmed by the university authorities today.
In July 2010, Saharareporters broke the story of the scandal. Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who is the Visitor of the institution, immediately demanded an investigation and report.
The university, which Ms. Okosun’s lawyer claimed to have been informed of the incident from the beginning, although its spokesman denied it, set up two committees. The student was found guilty of “breaching her matriculation oath”.
Also, the university offers no guarantee that another randy lecturer will not be waiting with a new grading “system”, or to exact vengeance.
Dr. Otubu’s case was instructive according to the university vice chancellor who rendered an account of his past to the NEWS magazine, as stated here: “Professor Sam Uniamikogbo, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, explained why Judith was also sanctioned. “The student was aware of the university’s rules and regulations and once any student violates any of the rules, that student will be disciplined,’’ he told TheNEWS. The rules, said the Vice-Chancellor, forbid students from taking laws into their own hands, as Judith seemed to have done. Uniamikogbo is, however, still shocked by the conduct of Otubu. Prior to the scandal, the V-C said, Otubu was considered chaste; having helped the university authorities bust a lecturer who habitually demanded sex from married undergraduates. ‘‘It was Otubu that we put on the case. The married woman was told to play along. Otubu helped us to arrest the lecturer at the hotel to which he had invited the woman. I could never have imagined that a man we thought was clean and a veritable role model would be involved in this kind of scandal,” Uniamikogbo said ruefully...
The university terminated Dr. Otubu’s appointment on October 26 2010.
A source at the university told SaharaReporters that Judith has gone to court to challenge her wrongful rustication from the university.
NaturesPlatform- Man, like his fellow primates, has always used the squatting position for elimination. Infants of every culture instinctively adopt this posture to relieve themselves. Although it may seem strange to someone who has spent his entire life deprived of the experience, this is the way the human body was designed to function..
And this is the way our ancestors performed their bodily functions until the middle of the 19th century. Before that time, chair-like toilets had only been used by royalty and the disabled. But with the advent of indoor plumbing in the 1800’s, the throne-like water closet was invented 22 to give ordinary people the same “dignity” previously reserved for kings and queens. The plumber and cabinet maker who designed it had no knowledge of human physiology – and sincerely believed that they were improving people’s lives..
Seven Advantages of Squatting
# Makes elimination faster, easier and more complete. This helps prevent “fecal stagnation,” a prime factor in colon cancer, appendicitis and inflammatory bowel disease.# Protects the nerves that control the prostate, bladder and uterus from becoming stretched and damaged.
# Securely seals the ileocecal valve, between the colon and the small intestine. In the conventional sitting position, this valve is unsupported and often leaks during evacuation, contaminating the small intestine.
# Relaxes the puborectalis muscle which normally chokes the rectum in order to maintain continence.
# Uses the thighs to support the colon and prevent straining. Chronic straining on the toilet can cause hernias, diverticulosis, and pelvic organ prolapse.
# A highly effective, non-invasive treatment for hemorrhoids, as shown by published clinical research.
# For pregnant women, squatting avoids pressure on the uterus when using the toilet. Daily squatting helps prepare one for a more natural delivery.
The new device symbolized the “progress” and “creativity” of western civilization. It showed that Man could “improve” on Nature and transcend the primitive cultural practices followed by the poor “benighted” natives in the colonies. The “White Man’s Burden” typified the condescending Victorian attitude toward other races and cultures.
Squat appendages to home toilets are being reintroduced on recommendation of medical personnel.
The British plumbing industry moved quickly to install indoor plumbing and water closets throughout the country. The great benefits of improved sanitation caused people to overlook a major ergonomic blunder: The sitting position makes elimination difficult and incomplete, and forces one to strain.
Those who could not overlook this drawback had to keep silent, because the subject was considered unmentionable. Furthermore, how could they criticize the “necessary” used by Queen Victoria herself? (Hers was gold-plated, befitting the self-styled “Empress of India.”)
So, like the Emperor’s New Clothes, the water closet was tacitly accepted. It was a grudging acceptance, as evidenced by the popularity of “squatting stools” sold in the famous department store, Harrods of London. As shown below on the left, these footstools merely elevated one’s feet in a crude attempt to imitate squatting.
The rest of Western Europe, as well as Australia and North America, did not want to appear less civilized than Great Britain, whose vast empire at the time made it the most powerful country on Earth. So, within a few decades, most of the industrialized world had adopted “The Emperor’s New Throne.”
150 years ago, no one could have predicted how this change would affect the health of the population. But today, many physicians blame the modern toilet for the high incidence of a number of serious ailments. Westernized countries have much higher rates of colon and pelvic disease, as illustrated by this report in the Israel Journal of Medical Science:
The prevalences of bowel diseases (hemorrhoids, appendicitis, polyps, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticular disease, and colon cancer) are similar in South African whites and in populations of prosperous western countries. Among rural South African blacks with a traditional life style, these diseases are very uncommon or almost unknown.
In deference to its age, it is called Alagba, which means ”the elderly one” in Yoruba. And, in Ogbomoso, where the legendary tortoise lumbers about in the palatial grounds of the king, it is almost a sacrilege to refer to Alagba as a mere tortoise.
Since Alagba is believed to be older than everyone in Ogbomoso, permutations about its true age relies heavily on oral history. Its present age was arrived at by situating it with the period of the Soun who reigned then. Alagba was allegedly brought to the palace by Soun Ikumoyede Ajao, the third Soun of Ogbomoso, who is believed to have been born sometime in the late 16th century and who reigned in the 17th.
Mr. Ajamu Oluwatoyin, the secretary of the current Soun says dating of the kingship of Ogbomoso was started by the elite in 1797 during the reign of Oba Toyeje Akanni (1797 to 1825), the fourth Soun and one time Are Ona Kakanfo (the Yoruba Nation Generalissimo)..
Since it was customary in those days to transfer the property and all palace belongings to the new monarch, Alagba had allegedly remained in the palace till date.
According to IBKay‘s blog on the Internet, the reigning Oba Oladunni Oyewunmi, Ajangungbade III, the 20th Soun, who has been reigning since 1974, confirmed that he knew the tortoise while he was a child-prince.
Mr. Adeniyi Alabi, Kakaki Oba (the oba‘s praise singer) and Mr. Adeyanju Areo, who used to carry the umbrella that shields the oba from the sun, also carry out the oba‘s instructions to take care of Alagba. They say the animal drinks water once in two weeks and that when it does, it finishes a 25-litre bucket.
Alagba is said to eat everything that human beings eat but likes pawpaw particularly. It is said to detest heat and plays a lot in the rainy season. Alabi and Areo put Alagba‘s weight at approximately 100kg since, according to them, its weight is equivalent to two bags of cement and it requires four men to lift it up.
”No matter how heavy you are, Alagba will carry you on its back and be moving about,” Areo says and adds that the incumbent oba, who cares so much about the well-being of Alagba, was the one that stopped people from climbing the back of the animal as the animal was getting old.
Mr. Muphtau Owolabi, the police orderly to the oba said three years ago, Alagba was sick and required surgery on its neck. Doctors put its survival chances at 50 per cent. The oba was said to have not permitted the surgery and Alagba later recovered.
Like some items in African traditional palaces that exist for mystical purposes, Areo says Alagba‘s existence in the palace has no such inclination. ”Alagba is just an aged animal that is well taken care of by the kabiyesi. There are vet doctors that attend to it and they give us drugs that we put in the water it drinks and the food it eats”, Areo says.
Nevertheless, all sorts of myths have been woven around Alagba. ”It hears what people say though it cannot speak,” Alabi says. ”It recognises kabiyesi‘s voice. If kabiyesi calls it Alagba, it will be shaking its head in agreement. Some people also stay near Alagba to offer prayers for longevity.”
A palace source said for a long time since its existence, Alagba was the only being that the king‘s wives may run to for refuge to avoid the anger of their husband.
”Whatever might have been the sacrilege of such a woman, the kabiyesi overlooks it if she runs to Alagba for protection,” she says.
There are also myths that allege that it is a particular oba that had become so old that turned himself to Alagba during a festival in the palace.
Kayode says looking at the body cells and carapace (shell) of Alagba can help determine its true age. ”The carapace is laid on yearly and its ornamentation can help determine the age of the tortoise,” he said.
He was however doubtful of the possibility of any expert in the country undertaking a venture to determine Alagba‘s true age since it would be of no economic value.
When Alabi took our correspondent to Alagba for introduction, he called the being twice saying, ”Alagba, Alagba, you have a visitor.” He spoke Yoruba. The ancient one slowly opened one of its eyes and brought out its neck full of age, spots and thick rough warts.
Slowly, it retreated into its thick shell and went back to sleep, its thoughts as mysterious as its age.
However, Mr. Akinwande Kayode, a lecturer in the Department of Zoology, University of Lagos, Akoka, doubted the veracity of the claims about Alagba‘s age. ”It is not scientific. It is oral evidence and there is no scientific evidence to support it,” he says.
He however states that tortoises generally live longer than other animals and that this is possible because of their link with the dinosaurs. ”Tortoise and turtle belong to the order Chelonians and they are the only living representatives of the order Chelonians which have a close link to the dinosaurs and dinosaurs as ancient animals lived for very long – up to 400 years – and they had enormous size,” he says.
According to Whyzz.com, an online question and answer site on the Internet, most tortoises do not pass 100, some have been known to live well past that marker and have lived as long as 200 to 250 years.
The site gave the reason why tortoises are able to live so long as having a lot to do with how they‘re built and how they live ”Because they are protected by a strong hard shell, tortoises are good at avoiding predators. Tortoises also live and move slowly, which means they use up less energy than lots of other creatures. – If a tortoise is unable to find enough food, they can survive for longer on less more easily than animals who burn through their energy really quickly.”
In March 2006, it was reported that an Aldabra tortoise at the Calcutta Zoo died and was estimated to be 250 years old. A Madagascar radiated tortoise was said to have lived in captivity to at least 188 years. Similarly, a 176-year-old giant tortoise from an Australian Zoo died in June, 2006. Typically, the Galapagos tortoise lives 150 years. Other varieties regularly live to be 100.
Lifespan
There are many old wives tales about the age of turtles and tortoises, one of which being that the age of a tortoise can be deduced by counting the number of concentric rings on its carapace, much like the cross-section of a tree. This is not true, since the growth of a tortoise depends highly on the access of food and water. A tortoise that has access to plenty of forage (or is regularly fed by its owner) will grow faster than aDesert Tortoise that goes days without eating.
Tortoises generally have lifespans comparable with those of human beings, and some individuals are known to have lived longer than 150 years. Because of this, they symbolize longevity in some cultures, such as China. The oldest tortoise ever recorded, almost the oldest individual animal ever recorded, was Tu'i Malila, which was presented to the Tongan royal family by the British explorer Captain Cook shortly after its birth in 1777. Tui Malila remained in the care of the Tongan royal family until its death by natural causes on May 19, 1965. This means that upon its death, Tui Malila was 188 years old.[3] The record for the longest-lived vertebrate is exceeded only by one other, a koi namedHanako whose death on July 17, 1977 ended a 226 year life span.[4]
The Alipore Zoo in India was the home to Adwaita, which zoo officials claimed was the oldest living animal until its death on March 23, 2006. Adwaita (sometimes spelled with two d's) was an Aldabra Giant Tortoise brought to India by Lord Wellesley who handed it over to the Alipur Zoological Gardens in 1875 when the zoo was set up. Zoo officials state they have documentation showing that Adwaita was at least 130 years old, but claim that he was over 250 years old (although this has not been scientifically verified). Adwaita was said to be the pet of Robert Clive.[5]
Harriet, a resident at the Australia Zoo in Queensland, was apocryphally thought to have been brought to England by Charles Darwin aboard the Beagle. Harriet died on June 23, 2006, just shy of her 176th birthday.
Timothy, a spur-thighed tortoise, lived to be approximately 165 years old. For 38 years she was carried as a mascot aboard various ships in Britain's Royal Navy. Then in 1892, at age 53 she retired to the grounds of Powderham Castle in Devon. Up to the time of her passing in 2004 she was believed to be the UK's oldest resident.
According to articles published by the Daily Mail and the Times in December 2008, Jonathan, a Seychelles Giant tortoise living on the island of St Helena may be as old as 176[6] or 178 years.[7] If this is true, he could be the current oldest living animal on Earth.

Amid all the glad-handing and rictus grins that greeted Barack Obama everywhere he turned during his whistlestop visit to the British Isles, Boris Johnson will undoubtedly have made a particular impression upon him.
At the end of the state banquet in the president’s honour at Buckingham Palace, the Mayor of London took the opportunity to have a quick word. “Could you please write me out a cheque for £5 million?” Johnson asked him.
The request for the president to settle the congestion charge bill that his country has run up was made with charm. The president smiled broadly. If he was about to reach for his chequebook, however, the swift intervention of Louis Susman, Obama’s ambassador to London and his former fund-raiser, put paid to that.
“I think this is a matter where our position is already well known,” he said to Johnson with a steely glare as Obama departed. Still, Johnson was delighted to have got his request in. “Mission accomplished,” he texted a colleague afterwards.
The American Embassy owes a total of £5,291,520 in unpaid congestion charge bills, which makes it the worst offender among the diplomatic missions in the capital.
The newest pastime in town among youths is ‘sexting‘. ‘Sexting‘ is the act of sending or exchanging sexually explicit text messages and nude pictures over mobile phones. The name was derived by combining sex and text, as in text messages.
Our correspondent gathered that this new fad is a common practice among youths, especially in tertiary institutions. The reason why youths do this range from their desire to keep their relationships to mischief. During the week, a soft sell magazine published semi-nude pictures of a young actress which a friend of hers circulated over mobile phones without her knowledge. Although she expressed regrets that it was published during an interview with an evening newspaper, she insisted that it was common..
A 26-year-old student of one of the federal universities in the South West, who pleaded anonymity, said, “My current relationship is about one and half years old. Though I have never sent my girlfriend any nude picture of myself, she sent me hers. I had a nude picture of myself on my phone which she saw. It was after that she sent me a nude picture of herself.”
“The final year Political Science undergraduate also admitted sending her sexually explicit text messages. According to him, ”If we are not together, we need to make each other happy. Texting nude pictures and suggestive SMS is a way of keeping the relationship going.”
Another student of a state university in the Eastern part of the country said she went along with the sexting tradition to please her boyfriend. “My relationship is about a year old. Though we have never sent nude pictures to each other but we do text sexually explicit messages. My boyfriend started it and I went along to make him happy.” The final year computer science student however admitted that sexting was among girls. “Most of them do it to keep their boyfriends happy.”
Twenty-nine year-old student of another federal university in the East, who also pleaded anonymity, said, “I am not currently in a relationship but in my last relationship, I sent my girlfriend sexually explicit text messages. I did it each time I missed her, kind of like an emotional eruption.”
Very few, it seems, consider the fate of the nude pictures when the relationship goes awry or the phone gets stolen as was in the case of the scandal last year where some nude pictures of a couple working in a major telecommunications firm was published on Facebook. There is always the danger, of course, of such pictures going into the wrong hands like the case of Natasha Obetan, a Port Harcourt ex-beauty queen whose nude pictures made the rounds.,
“I don’t know of any guy who used his girlfriend‘s nude pictures against her. The only person I know of that did something akin to that, his ex-girlfriend wasn’t even aware of what he did. She thought he had deleted all her nude pictures but he had one left. It was his friends that got to see it,” the student from a federal university in the South West said.
A psychiatrist at the Federal Psychiatrist Hospital, Yaba, Dr. Oladapo Adepoju sees the practice as a reflection of the moral decadence in the society. “Sexting is a social ill. It just shows that young people have taken romantic involvements to another level. I cannot call it a sexual disorder, except if it causes the person to harm himself and others too. On the other hand, however, deriving sexual satisfaction from viewing nude photos is a sexual disorder.” Disagreeing with the idea that sexting keeps the flame of love burning, he said, ”Sexting does not promote faithfulness in the long run. The danger of sexting is that both parties are likely to get sexually aroused. By the time this happens, they will want sexual satisfaction. If your partner is absent, the person might then resort to masturbation or engage any willing member of the opposite sex to achieve that sexual satisfaction.”
A concerned parent who didn‘t want to be named said, ”I have a teenage daughter in school. I would be very sad if I find out she is doing something like that. You really don‘t have to send amorous text messages or nude pictures to keep any relationship alive. There is a time for everything. All sexting does is to distract the parties involved from what they should actually be doing which is studying.”

Twelve members of a family were killed in a fire which gutted their residence on Wednesday night in Kano. The tragic incident affected the family members of Ahmed Kabiru Boss which are his 38-year-old wife, her four children and seven other relatives that came from Gombe State for the naming ceremony of Mr. Kabiru's son, Umar on Saturday. One of the victims include the mother in-law of Mr. Kabiru, also the mother of chairman of Nafada local government area, Gombe State.
Miraculously, both little Umar and his father survived the incident.
A neighbour of the Kabiru at Chirancin Gabas quarters in the ancient city, Mustapha Auwalu, said he heard people screaming at about 10.30pm on the fateful day.
"This was replaced by people shouting ‘fire , fire' and when I came out, I realized that my neighbour's house was on fire," he said. He said the fire started from the kitchen attached to the one-storey building in which the victims were staying and it spread to the adjoining rooms.
Mr. Kabiru, a former staff of Oando Oil Plc, was weeping and could not talk when approached for comments. However, another neighbour, Abdulsalam Mohammed said more lives would have been saved if efforts of fire fighters and voluntary rescue workers had succeeded.
Lack of good roads
He said officials of the fire service could not gain access to the road that leads to the burnt building as a result of poor road planning. The burglar proof installed on the windows of the building also hindered rescue efforts.
"People came immediately the house caught fire and even the fire service came early, but they couldn't do anything because their vehicle didn't gain access to the slim road and they had to try using other means. But before they arrived, it was too late." Mr. Mohammed said.
Strong burglar proof
Mr. Mohammed, who frowned at the government's laxity in enforcing building codes, said this tends to promote the building of illegal structures close to public roads. He also advised the government to address the issue of insecurity as ‘the burglar proof that was fixed on the windows hindered access to the victims.' The Kano State commissioner of police, Mohammad Gana who was at the scene of the incident, confirmed the death of the twelve persons.
"Twelve persons lost their lives in the fire incident, may their soul rest in peace. Our men tried all their best, but couldn't do much because the burglar proof was so strong that we couldn't remove it. It is a pity that this kind of thing happened," he said.
The deceased were buried according to Islamic rites, with the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Bayero Nafada in attendance.
The Kano State governor, Ibrahim Shekarau paid a condolence visit to the family where he inspected the burnt house and prayed for the souls of the departed.
Neighbours at his Oni and Sons Ring Road residence in Ibadan say he's been acting strange for some time now, always seen talking to himself. Sources say sometime late last year, Yekini, in the full glare of neighbours, brought out his belongings and allegedly set it on fire.
Yekini lives alone in his house, has a few tenants and rarely gets visitors. Since his marriage crashed in 1994, he hasn't remarried but has two children who visit him on holidays..
Friends and some of his ex-team mates worried about his mental instability are trying to get him help.

The area was full of women, children and men relaxing ahead of New Year celebrations. The bomb is reported to have exploded specifically in the area where many gather to eat freshly roasted fish . It is not
clear just how many have died but eye witnesses speak of seeing bodies
.
The injured have been taken to a medical centre within the the

which is situated along the Keffi - Abuja express way close to the
Highbrow Asokoro area of Abuja; has been cordoned off. Reports also say
that building housing police headquarters in Abuja has been sealed but
it is not clear if this is related to the bombing.
Former Nigerian vice - president, Atiku Abubakar, a presidential aspirant under the People's Democratic Party has denounced the bombings and described them as '' senseless and wicked''. In a statement issued a
few minutes ago, Mr Abubakar said he sympathises with innocent
military and civilian victims caught in the bombing incident..
The former vice- president went on to say that the latest bomb targeted at a military establishment is an indication that '' President Jonathan cannot provide the type of leadership to secure the nation.''

But no fewer than 100 people were injured at the usual busy market.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshall Oluseyi Petirin, who confirmed the explosions , said: "We will get at those behind it."
Also, President Goodluck Jonathan has condemned the attack, and urged the commands of the nation's security services to rise to the occasion and arrest this new and dangerous challenge to our peace and stability.
Hear him:
“Tonight, evil people determined to turn the joys of fellow Nigerians to ashes detonated a bomb at a barracks market in the Federal Capital City”.
“Basking in their nefarious success in Jos on Christmas eve, they have once again knifed at the heartstrings of a nation decked out in gaiety, celebrating new year's eve. This is extreme evil. It is wicked. It defies all that we believe in, and stand for as a nation”.
“The president, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, condemns this attack, and commands the nation's security services to rise to the occasion and arrest this new and dangerous challenge to our peace and stability”.
“There shall be no sacred cows. All, no matter how remotely connected to these incidents, must be brought to justice”.
“They must be made to pay. No one, and we
repeat, no one, can make this nation ungovernable”.
In The Name of Allah:
On Saturday, the 8th of January 2011, a Luxury bus departed Maiduguri en route to Lagos. As the bus approached The City of Jos from Bauchi, the bus was stopped at roadblock. Gunmen entered the bus and ordered all Muslims off the bus. These gunmen proceeded to set the bus ablaze with all remaining passengers inside. Most of the victims in the bus were from the Middle Belt and Southern Nigeria, both The East and The West all heading south.
What was their crime? None! Did they deserve this? In the name of Allah they did! An open declaration of war was made by Jama’ atu ahlus on the 28th of December 2010 after four bombs were exploded in The City of Jos, along with bombs going off in The City of Kano and The City of Maiduguri. Abu Muhammad, Abubakar bin Mohammad Shekau stated,
“I want to tell the Muslims in this country and the whole world that they need to know this is a war between Muslims and non-Muslims… this is not a tribal war, nor is it similar to the wars of the pre-Islamic era, it is nor a war for financial gains, it is solely a religious war. We did not start this war so it would end in one week, or one month or one year. Only when we are completely annihilated and nobody chooses to continue with our struggle may be that could be the end. Or we establish a system where religion has the final say or religion determines everything, that will be the end of this war… “We are ready for anyone willing to face us, whether it is a group of people or even the government because we know who supports us, God the Creator of the universe, Allahu Akbar. Therefore, we are warning every Muslim who believes in the religion of Islam that he should never help a non-Muslim in this war. If he helps any non-Muslim and in so doing, a fellow Muslim suffers due to that, he should know that he is a dead person.”
Since Jama’atu Ahlus made this declaration of war, a bomb was exploded in Abuja followed by another in Jos. This most recent atrocity is only affirmation of the stated objective and implementation of the war.
In all of these atrocities, our government has done its best to suppress all this information. Most Nigerians are unaware that this bus burning incident sparked off more fighting in The City of Jos since Saturday and continued into Monday. The predominantly Igbo neighborhoods and business in Jos were attacked in conjunction with the bus burning, leaving the city in chaos. Have you heard this information anywhere in the media? I guess not!
This image speaks to the continued suppression of the truth from Nigerians by the state. Many atrocities, such as this have taken place, but the state has confiscated the cameras, which have documented such atrocities. Most of the witnesses to these events from our presidents, governors, state security, NGOs’, and a few others are never allowed to divulge these secrets in the name of holding Nigeria together as one nation.
The real casualties are never reported. When the numbers are given, the government always disputes the numbers because we have no documentary evidence. Apparently, they must fear if we really know the extent of the atrocities, people would begin addressing the battle we are already in.
There comes a time when a nation and it’s people must decide and determine what their destiny and legacy to their posterity and the rest of the world shall be. Nigeria has found itself at that cross roads. We must decide if we are willing to accept and allow genocide to continue, terrorism to continue, oppression of the masses by use of the state apparatus to continue, suppression of the truth by government to continue, and destruction of the hope of Nigeria’s heart and soul, it’s people, to continue.

Contrary to his public posture, sources have reaffirmed that celebrated presenter of must watch television programme, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Mr Frank Edoho has indeed abandoned his family. A known "Snob" according to his former neighbours in the Northern Foreshore Estate
And not only this, fresh information has it that he has also stopped providing for his broadcaster wife, Kathrine and their three children.
He is said to have adopted this stance for close to a year now.
Information has revealed that Edoho had carefully masked the development from the public based on the after effect it might have on his job.
The promoters of his claim to fame, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire had warned him about any negativity about his person rubbing off their show.
He is widely seen as the face of the show all over town. It was their insistence that made him recalled his wife in the initial celebrated bust up that the couple later denied. There were talks of replacing him as presenter
Franks Response:
Over the years that he has anchored Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, he has cracked jokes with his guests and kept them at suspense before supplying the right answers to the questions. This has made the programme interesting.
But popular television show host, Frank Edoho, may not be in the mood to dish out jokes right now. Well, he seems to be very angry with news hunters at the moment. In fact he was said to have asked that journalists should leave his wife, Katherine alone.
we learnt that this emanated from rumours that circulated on the internet recently that the couple, who have three kids, have separated. However, a few days ago, Frank said the separation tale was not true. He insisted that his marriage is intact and that his marriage and private affairs are nobody’s business. Hear him: “There is nothing like that. I do not know where the rumour is coming from. What you need to know about me is just my career. I’m not going to tell anybody about my family life. Nobody has any right to ask me about my family.”

What you need to know about me is just my career, my TV show and my upcoming radio venture. For now, I’m not going to tell anybody about my family life or private life,”
Those are the lamentations of Frank Edoho, the host of the popular TV show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” about the rumored separation from his wife, Katherine.
There has been a speculation that the couple was having problems with their marriage and the TV host has moved out of their matrimonial home.
Reiterating his earlier position the through a telephone conversation with news magazine, a furious Frank said:
‘I’m just calling you back because I’m like a colleague. The only thing I can say now is that there is nothing like that. I do not know where the rumor is coming from. Nobody has any right to ask me about my family so I am not going to answer again. I am just showing you guys respect. Many people have called me and I have told them that nothing is going on. I’m still with my family and still married to my dear wife,’
Talking about the impact the malicious news is having on his wife, he said; “These journalists should just leave my wife alone; she’s undergoing too much stress. People have been calling her for like two days now and its getting to her because she’s taking care of my children. That’s all I want you to put out there,” he concluded.

9jabook is certain Frank Edoho moved out of his northern foreshore chevron drive lekki 3m per annum Luxury 4 bed Duplex late last year as from all indications from his neighbours whom he did not even tell . One morning moving trucks arrived and by evening he was gone ! His house help or house maid, relation or whoever she was had been seen that day usually with the children but the kids all of a sudden were gone too. Edoho's wife according to neighbours and sources rarely came out of the house.
Their estate Northern foresore which has a private beachfront had put edoho in previous electricity problems as his generator was having problems in an estate where light could be off for more than a week. The estate populated by chevron and mobil staff and other highbrow personalities is notorious for having multiple 24kva generators by residents who show off their ability to run their generators for weeks without PHCN ..Edoho who had only one seemed to have been fed up with this and one day suddenly moved out .
Story according to the gravepine
The marriage of Frank Edoho, the hugely popular presenter of must watch programme, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, to Katherine, his Nigeria Television Authority employee wife is once again in crisis.
This is barely two years after the couple's celebrated bust up that was hurriedly patched up with the intervention of notable family friends and influential personalities at their work place.
Investigations conducted revealed that the current situation has reached such a level that Mr Edoho has moved out of his matrimonial home.
He is said to have discreetly secured another apartment in Victoria Garden city while his wife hold forth at the couple's abode in Lekki, Lagos.
Their three children currently reside with the wife.
Sources disclosed that Edoho abandoned home over what he labelled 'life threatening behaviour' of his wife, Katherine.
It is not clear at present what he meant by this appellation of his wife's conducts.
Information at the disposal, attributes the immediate cause of the present turmoil enveloping the Edoho's marriage to a mysterious abandonment of home by Katherine in the heat of a marital squabble.
She was said to have disappeared and remained incommunicado from her husband for four days.
She allegedly took the children with her in the mysterious journey.
Sources divulged a highly distraught Frank Edoho later learnt on the fourth day of her disappearance that she was abroad with the children!
He was said to have moved out of their matrimonial home before she returned and later secured another apartment for himself.
Efforts to make him return home to his wife are said to be meeting stiff opposition from the popular television presenter.
He is said to be insisting a wife he left at home for work, only to disappear for four days and surface in another continent is capable of doing anything to him!
The reason(s) Catherine behaved in the manner she did is not clear at press time.
It is however instructive to note that their celebrated bust up of not too long ago was as a result of wife battering allegations against Frank Edoho.
He was said to have beaten up his wife to a state of grave injury over what was later confirmed suspicion of infidelity.
The action had resulted in Katherine moving out of her matrimonial home and a breakup of the marriage- until intervention from notable family friends and influential employers.
However with Frank now moving out of the home for his wife and children -and gone ahead to secure a new home for himself, there are strong indications that the centre might not hold again in the Frank and Katherine Edoho marital union.
Investigations are still on to get a clearer picture of the crisis that is speedily collapsing the marriage by the day.
2007 Interview: How things change and how time flies Frank Go BACK TO YOUR WIFE PLEASE !
Wife contributed to his first Car !
Frank Edoho talks about his rise to fame with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire
How did you become being the face of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire"?
Actually, I was called by a friend to come for an audition for "who wants to be a millionaire"? And since I had been watching the South African Version of the show which was years back, I knew the format of the show. So I said if this show is coming to Nigeria, great! But I just didn’t think that I would be the one presenting the show. I felt it would need a veteran broadcasters. So I felt the chance I had in presenting that show was like a snowball’s chance in hell, but I said hey!, let me just try. I missed the first audition, but as God would have it, the owner of the show said he still believes that there was that person out there, so they organized another audition.
What are the things you were asked to do during the screening?
Well, you go into the place and they give you a script. I didn’t know you were supposed to memorise it from outside, so I went there with the script and I was asked not to read from it and I should just present it. I started making things up but I wasn’t too impressed with my performance, but I said hey what the heck! I did it. What they were looking for was someone amiable, someone who’s natural. I’m not saying other people weren’t natural, but they were looking for a particular kind of person and I fitted that description, so I don’t see it as a special thing.
What schools did you attend and what did you specialize in?
I attended St. Louis Primary, then I went to St. Patrick’s College, Calabar, and then the University of Calabar to study Animal Science. While I was in school I made a foray into broadcasting, because I had a flair for it and that was in 1993. And since then, I’ve been into broadcasting. I was doing it side by side in school. I was doing a Radio Programme called Calabar Music Room on an A.M. Station, the A.M. Station for Cross River Radio. Then I told them that I wanted to start a programme called Block Buster on the FM Station of Cross River Radio once a week, and after that I started a television programme. There was one breakfast television show by the name, Swell Time Entertainment. We didn’t have any breakfast show as at that time in Calabar, so it came up on Saturdays and Sundays for three hours. That was what really showed me that on Radio, you work very hard on a daily basis and it could take like 3 years for someone to recognize you, but on TV, all you need to do is look nice, say the right things, make the right gestures and you are the toast of the whole vicinity, though I prefer Radio to TV actually, because Radio is my first love. I get to play great music and I get to be myself, but on TV, I have a character and I make sure that character is as natural as possible.
What were you doing before "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire"?
When I came to Lagos, I started working with DBN Television. I was at DBN Television and for that one year, I was a Cameraman, Editor, a Newscaster, News Producer, Presenter. After that, I went to Radio Nigeria, Metro FM, where I met grant people, especially the then Director General, Dr. Eddie Iroh, who brought innovation into that place and he really helped me in terms of training, diction, elocution and speech, how to project, how to attack a script and even news reading. After that, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire came along and the rest is history.
Apart from Who Went To Be A Millionaire, what else do you do?
I am an MC, I compere events all over the place.
You must really be a millionaire?
If you have one million now, it makes you a millionaire, not so? But I’m telling you, one million is not much money because if you want to buy a car, maybe it’s worth N800,000 and you have N200,000 left. But I do lots of compere, voice over, everything I do is related to the entertainment world and the voice overs improve my voice quality.
In which commercials did you do voice over?
I’m all over MTN, Intercontinental Bank, I don’t do for Telecomms Companies for obvious reasons, they are too numerous.
How were you able to clinch the deal the second time with MTN?
When it comes to that aspect, I’m not allowed to really talk about it, but I’m going to give you what I can. The former dispensation was this, we had sponsorship slots, and these slots were taken by different companies. The owner of the show. Mr. Femi Ayeni, in order to break even had put in so much work, and money and nobody wanted to plunge in the sort of money we wanted. So he said okay, let’s UBA, then Telecoms, that’s Vmobile, then we had Cowbell. And you know Cowbell cannot be there and you would have Peak, so that was what happened. Then MTN came along and said they wanted all the slots. I really commend MTN. That is what a company should do, they should say look, we want this programme, I don’t care what it takes. Abroad, they have what they call Nielsen ratings, which show companies what they should offer for TV Shows. They have a way of rating TV Shows because their system of broadcast allows one to know how many people are watching a programme. But here, it’s just based on assumption, but for a show like ours, you can only know that everybody watches the show, because of the fact that people see me and recognize me instantly. And I tell you, my face is not on billboards and they still know me, it means they are watching. And it is a mutual benefit thing; the show benefits and the company does. The then Vmobile was one of the sponsors, while MTN sponsors the whole show, so we are partnering with MTN to make sure things happen.
Where are you from?
I’m from Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, so you can call me an-Akwa-Cross indigene.
So how did you meet your wife?
I met my wife in Calabar in 1989. Of course I didn’t know she would be my wife. Then we met at DBN TV, though I had just spent two weeks. She was in a relationship that didn’t work out and I had just proposed to a girl that didn’t want to marry me, and so we hit it off together. She handles AM Express. I love her very much. If you realize what my wife went through for me, no woman can suffer like that. My wife was squatting with a friend of mine who threw us out and we had nowhere to go, but she stuck by me. She would give me all her money, my wife gave me half of the money for my first car. Sometimes couples have their troubles, but what I always remember is what she went through for me. I don’t think I can marry any other woman, so I guess I’m stuck with her. Moreover, she is a good mother to my children, she is one of the nicest people I can think of, so let this be a lesson to people who think celebrities don’t have problems, just because you see them smiling all the time. Anyway, I can only say that I’m in this one forever. You know with women, no one can predict your next reactions, so no problem.
So how do you people manage the home front, considering the nature of your jobs?
We are both Broadcasters. My wife leaves home early for AM Express. Mine is easier as sometimes, I don’t leave the house till 10, then I go meet my wife in the office to have a chat, then I go. Sometimes, I get home very late. I’m using my image to meet people, get contacts and stuffs, like that. I get MC jobs and stuff like that, so I try to mingle with my colleagues, it’s not easy but we have to balance it out.
Do you ever have time to relax?
My idea of relaxing is not doing any job but staying at home to watch Tv and playing video games. Also, I love listening to music while driving; it relaxes me. Also, I love hanging out at Barcelos, which is my favorite hangout. I’m just a regular guy, not some stuck up celebrity hanging his nose in the air.
What are your challenges as a Compere and Presenter?
Everytime before I present a show, I pray. I don’t use scripts nor teleprompters, everything I say comes from my head, and all I do I just beg God to help me and he does. And as a quiz master, you must know all pronunciations, quotations, then as a compere, I have to update my jokes and try creating a joke out of a situation and also try to make it original.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
I can’t tell you the craziest thing I’ve ever done in my University days, unless you want my marriage to crash, but I can tell you one, though I’ve not said it to anyone. On my wedding day, my wife and I weren’t talking, and when people walked up to us, we would both act the happy couple and as soon as they leave, we would continue. My mother found out and scolded the hell out of me. And the funny thing about it is that I can’t remember what actually caused the friction.
How do you feel being the popular Frank Edoho?
I don’t have the right to do anything I want. Sometime ago on the Island, one area boy tapped on my door and started raining abuses on me just because I wouldn’t give him money. If it was the Frank Edoho of that time. I would have raised him 5ft in the air. As a matter of fact, when the guy was talking to me, I wanted to talk back at him but one family just drove past waving at me and I had to wave back smiling.
How long will the show last?
The show is just going on. That of Vmobile lasted for two years, but this time, I don’t know, we are trying to make it great. The Executive Producer, Mr. Femi Ayeni is trying to improve on the quality of the show in terms of equipment, location etc.
Who are your role models?
In terms of presentations Ruth Benamesia-Opia, Adesuwa Onyenokwe, my wife, whom I feel is a better presenter than I am. For men, Sunny Irabor, Uncle Femi Sowoolu. In terms of MC, Basorge Tariah Jnr. Is great, he actually taught me. I admire Basket Mouth, while A.Y. is just a stupid boy in terms of comedy. The MD of Access Bank Aigboje Aig Imokhuede and his Assistant, Herbert Wigwe, those two have achieved, they have no qualms about it. They are not going about it as if they have done anything, they wish to achieve more.
All was well, until Dame Patience Jonathan and her chief host, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi got to Okrika – the First Lady’s home town.
The governor was explaining by video his school project in Okrika, saying there must be demolition of some buildings to have space for the schools.
Mrs Jonathan cut in, grabbed the microphone and said the governor should reconsider the way he was going about the demolition. An attempt by Amaechi to explain the situation sent the First Lady boiling..
She shouted at Amaechi: "Listen!, you must listen to me!"
The governor was embarrassed, like a scolded school pupil. The audience hailed Mrs Jonathan, goading the First Lady on.
The President’s wife, however, described land as a serious issue in Okrika and told Amaechi to always avoid "must" when talking about waterfronts’ demolition. The governor never mentioned "waterfronts", but Mrs. Jonathan went on: "I want you to get me clear. I am from here (Okrika). I know the problems of my people. So, I know what I am talking. I do not want us to go into crises. We are preaching peace and we must maintain peace at any time.
"But what I am telling you is that you always say you must demolish. That word ‘must, you use is not good. It is by pleading. You appeal to the owners of the compound, because they will not go into exile. Land is a serious issue."
Downcast, Amaechi shunned a reception organised for the First Lady. The reception was, however, not on the programme.
Mrs Jonathan hurriedly left for Abuja. Her planned visit to Port Harcourt prisons, where the Chief Judge, Justice Iche Ndu, was expected to release some prisoners, was cancelled. So was her visit to the new Model Secondary School at Ebubu-Eleme, among others.
A civic reception in honour of the President’s wife was held at the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt on Monday. Her pet programme, Women for Change Initiative (WFCI), was launched.
This was followed by a state banquet/Award Night at the Government House, Port Harcourt, where the former Miss World, Agbani Darego, who hails from the state, and some women were honoured for their outstanding contributions to society.

Residents of the area had woken up to see the woman perched dangerously atop the minaret which is under construction as part of ongoing renovation works on the three-storey mosque.
The scene of the incident became a Mecca of sort as residents from the neigbouring communities gathered to witness the incident. Many of the onlookers expressed surprise at how Bolaji managed to climb the mosque tower even as they wondered how the mother of three would be rescued safely.
Meanwhile, there were different sides to the Bolaji saga. While some people claimed she was a witch on a failed mission, and reaping the fruits of her wickedness, others said she was mentally deranged, a claim
corroborated by Bolaji’s father.. According to Bolaji’s father who wept openly at his daughter’s risky situation, the victim was mentally ill and the family had been making plans to move her to a psychiatrist home for treatment before the incident.
Amid the confusion over how to rescue Bolaji safely from her precarious position, a commercial tricyclist, simply identified as Ikechukwu, offered to bring the lady down if his colleagues would compensate him with the sum of N1, 000. There was another angle to the Ikechukwu story, as another account said he had actually placed a bet with some other young men at the scene that he could bring down the woman. The wager was put at N1,000.00.
Ikechukwu, after getting the assurance that he would be given the money began to climb the minaret. Unaware that he was embarking on a dangerous mission, Ikechukwu never returned to claim the money he was promised. He was allegedly pushed down by Bolaji using one of the wooden beams the construction workers had placed in the minaret. He landed, hitting his head on the concrete floor. He died instantly. Following Ikechukwu’s fatal fall, Bolaji was said to have boasted that she would kill more people should they venture to bring her down.
However, the Imam in charge of the mosque, Ganiyu Oyebanjo, was said to have contacted the policemen and men of the State Fire Service. Daily Sun gathered that before the arrival of the crime fighters, a native doctor was said to have made a futile attempt to rescue Bolaji. The medicine man was said to have recited some incantations, cast spell but to no avail. He was reportedly chased away by the crowd. Men of the state fire service on their arrival splashed water on the victim hoping it would scare her, yet she remained adamant.
When Daily Sun arrived the scene Bolaji was seen entertaining her audience. Repeatedly, she would remove her clothes dance around while the malefolk applauded her. When it was obvious that the woman just had to be saved from possible death, able-bodied men comprising mainly of members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), took over the rescue mission.
They beckoned on her to come down, while she shouted in Yoruba language that they should leave her alone. She began throwing stones at the men who for safety had to wear helmet. Gradually the men climbed up the tower, distracted the lady while another with the aid of a plank pushed her from the minaret to the roof of the mosque. She was eventually brought down from the roof.
The mob attempted to lynch Bolaji but for the quick intervention of the police. She was whisked to Ijesha police station and later moved to a private hospital where she is receiving treatment. Her father lamented that things would not have degenerated to this if his daughter had not been turned back by Yaba Psychiatric hospital. According to him, the hospital had asked that the family should first treat the wounds Oluremi had inflicted on herself before bringing her for admission. The angry mob took to the street, protesting the death of Ikechukwu and calling for the heads of the woman and members of her entire family.
The mob barricaded Ijesha Lawanson Road, disrupting commercial activities and vehicular movements. Some hoodlums who hijacked the protest used the opportunity to snatch peoples mobile phones and handbags. The police eventually dispersed the protesters by firing tear gas canisters.
The Imam, Ganiyu Oyebanjo, expressed shock on how the woman managed to climb the minaret. “I think she was being controlled by a demonic force. She climbed the minaret at about midnight and was brought down around 11:00 am.”
He alleged that worshippers had prevailed on the deceased, Ikechukwu, to wait for the arrival of policemen and the fire fighters but he was adamant, probably because of the N1, 000, allegedly promised him by his colleagues.
Lagos State police spokesman, Mr. Frank Mba, who confirmed the death of Ikechukwu, said the quick intervention of the police saved the lady from being stoned to death by the mob. He said both the police and fire fighters rushed the woman in an ambulance to the police before taking her to the hospital.
He said the body of Ikechukwu had been taken by his family for burial. Mba advised members of the public to always report such incidents to the police rather than resort to jungle justice.
Rituals, at times is synonymous with movie scripts
where you have the likes of Kanayo O. Kanayo taking the lead role, but it seems the usual movie script has metamorphosed into real life. Information at the disposal of Global News a Soft Sell Magazine that advertises on many top nig.erian websites like sahara reporters & huhuonline.com has revealed that some movie practitioners now indulge fully in the practice, basically for protection and prosperity. Many sudden and painful deaths in the movie industry are at times deduced and linked to rituals. In spite of said and heard about this fetish practice, some artistes are still trailing that path for power, fame and money regardless its consequence. And if recent story reaching us is anything to go by, these Nollywood actresses, Oge Okoye, Ini Edo and Mercy Johnson may be heading towards that path
Chief Dokpesi was arrested, following a revealing Short Message Service (SMS) text message sent to the phone of one of the suspects in police custody, asking “if Dokpesi has paid the balance”, and another SMS “inviting another suspect to a meeting at IBB Campaign office”..

The source said, “this was said to have sent alarm signals across the
nation’s security apparatus, since the suspect concerned is considered to be
neck deep in the bombing plot.
“It became more dramatic when another text sent to another suspect in our

called security circles as ‘a high tech sting operation’ which in a matter
of hours, has netted a wider ring of suspects”.
It was also gathered that a suspect who never knew he was already under
surveillance confided in a friend via a text that “na we do am…..meet me make I brief u”, is currently confessing more details to the security agencies.
According to our source, another suspect allegedly confessed that “in the last
two weeks he bought a brand new Nissan Murano SUV from funds received
from Dopkesi”.
The confession, according to the source, includes a directive from
Mr. Henry Okah that they should destabilize the government since Jonathan
“was not ready to put serious money on the table”.
