12166298501?profile=originalFive persons have been reportedly killed at the weekend while several others were seriously injured in a bloody clash in three different locations between two rival cult groups, the Eiye and Black Axe in Benin, the Edo State capital.

Daily Sun gathered that the victims were killed during a quarrel, as one of the groups was sharing money allegedly given to them by politicians during the conduct of primaries by one of the political parties in the state.

It was learnt that two men riding on a motorcycle, suspected to be members of the Eiye confraternity shot a member of a rival Black Axe cult group whose name was identified as Tony Idemudia at Uwelu, near Ogida area of the city. As soon as this happened, the Black Axe members were said to have stormed the Texiles Mill Road area apparently on a reprisal mission and swooped on two rival members killing them in the process.

Not satisfied, members of the Black Axe confraternity were said to have retreated and launched another attack on their opponents at the Second East Circular junction also in the state capital, where they shot two persons to death. One of the victims of the onslaught was identified as Osas.
The bloody scenes had left the residents of the affected areas scampering for safety. When contacted , the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Peter Ogboi failed to confirm the incident..

However, Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. David Omojola said nine persons had been arrested in connection with the incident. He attributed the killings to rival cult gangs and promised that those involved in the killings would be prosecuted, adding that investigations were on to unravel the circumstances surrounding the clash.

The corpses of the cult members have been taken to the morgue of the Central Hospital, Benin by policemen from the state command.

Previously in May 2010

The relative peace in Edo State was disrupted when cult groups clashed in Benin City, leaving 11 persons dead.

Oshiomhole_20100519jpg-283x336.jpg?width=283

Gov. Adams Oshiomhole, Edo State Governor.

The clash was between two rival groups, the Eiye and Black Axe confraternities.

P.M.NEWS
gathered yesterday that the battle, which took place last weekend, was a spill over from College of Education, Ekiadolor, near Benin City where cult rivalry claimed two lives recently.

Police sources confirmed the death of eight persons and six persons on danger list at different hospitals in Benin City.

Investigation revealed that Ogida and Useh quarters were the worse hit, recording a death toll of seven within six hours last Thursday.

Eye witnesses said that the cultists attacked their victims as soon as they dropped off the vehicles that brought them. It was further revealed that they pursued some of the victims to their family houses, killing some even in the presence of their parents.

One of the victims is called Erokpadamwen Asemota who was shot dead along with others at Useh quarters.

Bewildered residents who could no longer endure the war decided to appeal to security agencies and relevant bodies to intervene as lives and economic activities have been endangered in the area.

The hitmen and their victims are said to be in their twenties and some were alleged to be students of College of Education, Ekiadolor.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, the spokesman of Edo State Police command, ASP Peter Ogboi, stated that they intervened in good time to arrest the situation .

A bloody cult war between Black Axe and Maphite Confraternity reportedly claimed over 15 lives last March in Benin City.

thousands of travellers have been stranded at Heathrow airport overnight, and hundreds more at Gatwick, as snow continues to disrupt much of the UK. _50487000_heathrow_sleeping304.jpg

There will be no flight arrivals at Heathrow on Sunday and only a handful of departures, while many Gatwick flights are affected.

Problems persist at airports UK-wide, while the Met Office is warning of icy roads across much of England and Wales.

More heavy snow is expected in eastern Scotland and north-east England.

Up to 10cm of snow are expected in these areas, and up to 20cm in hilly areas.

Forecasters said the UK was hit by extremely low temperatures overnight, with most parts of the country struggling to get above minus 5C, while fresh snow fell in eastern Scotland and north-east England.

Hundreds of thousands of Britons had been due to fly this weekend, according to travel association Abta, which estimated that four million people expected to go abroad..

Heathrow airport told the BBC that "a few thousand spent the night in the terminals" but said just four short-haul and three long-haul flights would leave on Sunday morning. It hoped to be operational on Monday.

Sue Kerslake spent the night on a terminal floor with her three young grandchildren after their Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong was cancelled.

Having arrived at the airport at 0800 GMT on Saturday, they sat on a plane for seven hours before being told it was not taking off.

"There were thousands of people in departures overnight and it got quite intense at times. The bars were open and some people were drinking and got quite nasty," she said.

Stuart Gash, from Swindon, who had been due to fly to New York for a Caribbean cruise with his wife and two children, said UK airports seemed unable to cope at the first sign of snow.

'Miserable'

He said: "There was no more than two inches of snow and yet the runway is totally covered. Why aren't they ploughing it, why aren't they gritting it, why aren't they salting it?"

Andrew Teacher, from Heathrow operator BAA, said it had invested more than £6m in the last year in technology to move snow and de-ice runways and that staff had been working through the night.

But he said: "There comes a point where you cannot do any more; when you're moving snow and it's freezing behind," adding that many planes had been frozen into parking spaces.

He apologised for the "miserable" situation but said problems had been caused by "an extreme amount of snow in a very short space of time" and safety had to be prioritised.

"Overnight we had hundreds of people drafted in to focus on helping passengers who have remained in terminals. We've given them blankets, water and food and are trying to make people as comfortable as possible."

The Independent's travel editor Simon Calder said very few of the 400,000 passengers due to fly out of Heathrow this weekend would get to their destinations. At Gatwick, the BBC's Helen Fawkes said 90,000 people should fly out on Sunday but that there had already been 50 cancellations.

A Gatwick spokeswoman said it was doing everything it could to "get passengers on their way".

"Passengers must check with their airline before setting out for the airport to reduce congestion and avoid disappointment," she said.

Airports in Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands are also suffering cancellations and delays.

Stansted, Luton, Exeter, London City, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol and Southampton airports said flights would be subject to delays and cancellations throughout Sunday, while the runway at Jersey Airport was closed until at least 0915 GMT.

Infrastructure 'seized up'

Ryanair has cancelled 84 flights to or from UK airports, mainly in the London area.

In Northern Ireland freezing conditions continue to make travel difficult following some of the heaviest snowfall for 25 years - with more forecast.

Belfast International Airport has reopened, although knock-on effects have caused delays.

Monarch Airlines managing director Tim Jeans said reassessment of the UK's transport infrastructure was needed.

"We have not coped well. The infrastructure - not just at the airports but the road infrastructure - completely seized up. The M25 going towards Heathrow and Gatwick virtually impassable within an hour of the snow starting to fall."

On what is one of the busiest weekends of the year for travel and shopping, other problems caused by the weather include:

  • The AA said it dealt with 16,000 calls on Saturday, compared with 9,000 on an average pre-Christmas Saturday
  • There was some disruption to South West Trains and First Capital Connect services, although most other routes were now operating normally, according to National Rail Enquiries, which has provided a new passenger phone number - 08453 017 641
  • Sunday's sporting schedule was again badly affected, after wide postponements of football, rugby union and horse racing fixtures on Saturday
  • An urgent appeal is being made for blood donors, particularly those who are O negative, as stocks are running low
  • Companies have warned of a backlog of deliveries which may not reach customers before Christmas

On Saturday, Jon Caudwell, from the Highways Agency, said they were doing their best to keep major roads in England clear but needed help from motorists who should "really seriously consider" whether they needed to go out.

He said he was surprised at the level of traffic on the roads, given the advice not to travel. He said in some areas abandoned vehicles and jack-knifed lorries had blocked access for gritters.

A Department for Transport spokesman said: "The weather over the last 24 hours has been exceptionally severe. Government continues to monitor all aspects of the situation."

Hoodlums rape 5 secondary school students in Owerri

By Chidi Nkwopara

OWERRI-Dare devil hoodlums numbering about 10, reportedly broke into the premises of Owerri Girls Secondary School last Sunday and raped five senior secondary school students.

.
Confirming the ugly incident to newsmen in Owerri, the Principal, Senior Section, Mrs. Pat Uche Obasi, said the hoodlums stormed the SS3 dormitory between 1:00am and 2:00am but escaped when men of Imo State Police Command intervened.

Lamenting that the hoodlums succeeded in raping five girls, the principal also recalled that the bandits equally escaped through the hole they created in the school fence.

"These boys came from the back of the school premises. They came through a hole they created in the fence, armed with cutlasses, rods and what looked like a gun and went into SS3 dormitory. They succeeded in raping about five students in the process," the principal said.

The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, at the New Owerri Police Division, Mr. Okezie Okoroafor, confirmed the incident and explained that when he got a distress call from the former principal of the school, he quickly mobilized his men and intervened.

He said his men were able to rescue the school security officers, whose hands were tied to their legs by the rampaging rapists and assured the students and their parents that security had been beefed up in the school.

I smell something fishy here !
A five-year-old boy, Feranmi Oloyede, was found dangling on a tree at the back of his house, Moferere in Ajilosun area of Ado-Ekiti last Friday. Residents in the area were shocked when they discovered the body of the boy, who was described as being lively, hanging on the tree...

Daily Sun investigations revealed that the primary 1 pupil of St. Louis Nursery and Primary School, Ikere-Ekiti, was playing with a rope tied to the branch of the tree and, having climbed a table under the tree, he tied the rope around his neck and his leg slipped off the table and he got hanged.
Since there was nobody at the back of the house where he was playing with the rope, he had died before he was discovered.

Efforts to contact his parents, especially his mother, who had a shop at a shopping complex at Moferere proved abortive as she had been taken away to an undisclosed place to console her.
Residents had fled the area for fear of police arrest, because it was being rumoured that the boy was killed by some faceless people and later brought to the compound and noosed to make it appear he hanged himself.

When Daily Sun contacted the spokesman of the state Police Command, Mohammed Jimoh, an assistant superintendent of police (ASP), he said the command was not aware of the incident.
The remains of the boy, sources said, had since been buried......

Hello guys another day another Word. Chapter 5 is another long chapter; I will definitely need your help on this one. For those who have newly joined the project, I will quickly give a brief explanation about this wonderful project. Every book in the bible has its treasures and i thank God for each and every one of them. The project is going through the book of Isaiah and finding God’s treasures deposited for us. Isaiah means “the Lord saves" tells us about the past, present and the future. Please join us in going through this wonderful book. Feel free to contribute and ask questions, we are all learning as we go on. There are verses that might minister to you, please share.
Chapter 5.............
End Product: When you work soooo hard on something you always want to have a good end product especially when resources and time have been used on that product. It’s no different from God’s expectations from us, verse 1-4 talks about God's vineyard on a rich and fertile hill; he ploughed the land, cleared its stones and planted it with the best vines. In the middle he built a watchtower and carved a wine press in the nearby rocks, then he waited for a harvest of sweet grapes but the grapes that grew were bitter. It’s surprising the end product of this vineyard; it really hurts after seeing the care and time that had been given to this vineyard.
Photo:Isaiah's Lips Anointed with Fireby Benjamin West (1782, Bob Jones University Museum and Gallery).

When you read further you will understand that this well kept vineyard is no different from God's people ( You and I ) , he put us on a land that is fruitful , but he did not end there he took away those things that would disrupt our growth ( some of these things we see and some of it we do not see, believe me if we knew some of the tribulations God has taken away from our lives without our knowing we will give thanks every second, the only ones we see are the ones he knows we can bear, he knows we can learn from them and give him the glory for it at the end of the day), but it did not end there he gave us guardian angels to watch over us 24/7 . After all this you would expect that he would want results immediately, but the Word says he WAITED for a harvest, he was patient and is still patient for you and I, although when he expects good fruits and when we end up producing bad fruits (sins) it's heart breaking. Let search ourselves today. Are we fruitful in God's kingdom, what fruits are we producing? What is the end product after all God has showered on our lives?

Daddy loves you: There are different ways love can be expressed; love should always be expressed in truth no matter the medium we use. Parents love their children, that’s why they provide for them, but also when they do wrong because of this love they correct them. It is no different with God. Revelation 3: 19 “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent”. God is not wicked when he disciplines, if he does not discipline then he is wicked. Some people are very indifferent about their sins/behaviours and act like this behaviours are right, God is patient but he will definitely discipline the disobedient ones. Verse 5 - 6 tells us what he will do with those that are not fruitful, disobedient, stubborn etc. He will break down those walls of protection and let strangers/animals trample on what that person has, he will stop growth and leave thorns instead. I pray that would not be our portion in Jesus name.

Rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer: if I am being totally honest, there is nothing wrong with rich getting richer or the poor getting poorer it all depends on how they get richer or poorer. If the rich are getting richer because of their hard work and dedication and the poor are getting poorer because of laziness and poor decisions then that's how life is, but there is a problem when the rich get richer at the expense of the poor. verses 8 - 10 talks about greedy people who keep it all to themselves, they spend soo much time acquiring earthly possessions they seem to forget they can't take it anywhere, they came to this world naked and will leave naked( with nothing). Now for those that God has blessed with riches, help the poor this can only add to the riches you already have. When you help the lowly it affects God as well.

Your time: Verse 11- 12 talk about what we use our time to do, there it talks about those that wake up early in the morning looking for a drink of alcohol and spend long evenings making themselves drunk and throw grand parties, the message is in verse 12 " but they never think about the Lord or notice what he is doing" what do we spend our time doing? he has given us 24hrs what are we doing with it, is there time to get to know him in our plans ( I am guilty of this at times), it necessarily does not have to be alcohol it could be anything that takes the time we should be spending with him. May God help us.

Repercussions: We should know the effect of our decisions. Verses 13-15 talks about what will happen to those that choose not to know God, they will starve, they will be swallowed by the earth they will be destroyed and brought down. Why go through all this when you have knowledge of the truth.

Baggage drop it!!!: Verse 18 says " What sorrow for those who drag their sins behind them, with ropes of lies, who drag wickedness behind them like a cart!! Sin is baggage as we drag it with us not only do we feel heavy, but more will be added, because sin attracts more sin. People are carrying sooo much baggage and garbage that they are getting too used to it, Christ died on the cross and took all this baggage from us, why do some of us want to go back, pick this baggage and carry it. Please DROP IT!!!!.

News of the World today: Verse 20 says " What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter" is that not what is happening in the world today, the ones that decide to do good are seen as the backward, while the ones that decided to follow the world, are seen as the wise ones. Cheating, murder, adultery, fornication, lies, bribery etc are now a norm in the world any other way is seen as foolishness, the man/woman that decides to be faithful to their spouse is seen as a fool who does not know what's in trend, the man/woman who decides to go about business the right way without lies/cheating is seen as slow or stupid, the girl/boy who decides to keep themselves till they get married are told they are only deceiving themselves, sleeping with your own sex is norm are you blind the whole world is doing it !!!!! The Lords anger is burning against those that are wise in their own eyes and think themselves so clever, who have rejected the law of the Lord of Heaven's armies.

Their end will be nothing to write home about, the last verse of this chapter verse 30b says " If someone looks across the land, only darkness and distress will be seen; even the light will be darkened by clouds" Does this sound familiar to you, listen to news today and see what’s happening around the world..... Natural disasters, inflation, fear, crimes etc

I pray none of us will be caught in this darkness in Jesus name.

Please feel free to contribute, I have left out some verses, you can contribute or add comments to what has been written.

I give God the glory for this note.

Have a lovely week people.

The woes mentioned in verses 8-23 had the most impact on me. They provide a current meaning towards God and His word.

Vs 11 & 12- “Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, and stay up late at night till they are... inflamed with wine. They have harps and lyres at their banquets, tambourines and flutes and wine, but they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord, no respect for the work of His hands."

This verse is literal; it addresses a lifestyle of partying, getting drunk, ‘living life’. This epicure kind of living has become the norm. It’s no longer viewed as wrong but as having fun. I remember living this kind of live. For years, I drank and I partied like there was no tomorrow. I ‘lived life’. I did those things not because I wanted to but because it seemed cool and everyone was doing it so why not? I realized now and I have conversations with people that not because culture says something is fine does not mean it is fine with God. The amazing thing is He is such a forgiving God.

Vs 13-15, these verses pronounce judgment for the blatant disregard for Gods law. Vs 15 most especially; “So man will be brought low and mankind humbled the eyes of the arrogant humbled”.
The purpose of Gods judgment is to humble every man, not just the arrogant man. If we think we can do as we please, without the fear of God or His judgment, we do it more and keep doing it until arrogance sets in and then we become boastful in our ability to defy Gods word. The bible is full of accounts where the same pattern is followed.
“if I can get away with it, why not rebel?’ that’s the attitude of man. If our errors are not confronted, reproved and corrected they will only remain obstinate and we will be self confident in our arrogant disobedience. My sister for example has a very nonchalant attitude towards live. She doesn’t think she should call u when she travels out of the country and lives you in her house. She doesn’t think she is doing anything wrong and then you get mad at her but she is just so clueless as to why u are upset. Hahahahahahahaha, it’s funny now but not so when she does it.

Vs 21- "Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and clever in their own sight."
The bible is the clearest way to live a just life. It’s a constant struggle for me. I ask God to show me all the time but then I get a nudge saying, “how much clearer can God make things?” I digress….
Man's wisdom has crowded out the true knowledge of God to the point that those of us who still believe the Bible is the God Breathed Word and Will of God are looked upon as weird and crazy. Worldly wisdom rules in every school district in America and every secular university we attend. Is it any wonder that by the time most people graduate from college, they are lukewarm Christians at best?

Even though Satan was thrust out of God's presence because of his rebellion, he daily persuades countless people to believe he really won and that his systems of greed, lust and power are genuine and the other "god's" are inferior and wrong. And people believe him.
I am not allowed to have a conversation around religion at my job. Its against company policies. I still do indirectly because I have to let pple know that there is a supreme being greater than us all that is willing to be that comforter that they yearn for.

May the good Lord bless u all richly and may His word never depart from our hearts.

5 Corpers Kidnapped 4 Ladies one Male

Five members of the National Youth Service Corps, four female and one male, were last night, at about 11.30 pm, abducted by unknown gunmen at Corpers’ Lodge at Unuogha Community Secondary school in Omuma Local Government area of Rivers State.

According eyewitness account, the gunmen who arrived in a Sports Utility Vehicle, stormed the Corpers’ Lodge, shot sporadically into the air to scare people and abducted the corps members.
They also made away with valuable belongings of the Corps members..
Immediately after the Corps members were abducted, the kidnappers put the Corps members on phone to announce to their colleagues and relations that they are holding them.
At the time the operation was on, the Police were contacted and immediately mobilised to the scene but only succeeded in pursuing them into the boundary between Abia and Rivers states.
The Rivers State Police image-maker, Mrs. Rita Innoma-Abbey confirmed the kidnap when contacted and said that the Rivers Police command is working round the clock in conjunction with the Abia Police Command to ensure the release of the victims unharmed..
In his reaction, Blessing Wikina, the Acting Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, told PMNEWS that “it is very sad an unfortunate that at the time corps members are serving their fatherland they could be kidnapped. The state Government calls on the kidnappers to release them forthwith as they are of no pecuniary value.”
He also called on the police to ensure their release unharmed.”
On 10 August, this year, during a Town Hall Meeting with the people of Omuma Local Government, the governor pledged to pay N1 million on each kidnapper arrested by the villagers to stem the tide of kidnapping in the local government.
As a precautionary measure, P.M.NEWS learnt that the rest Corps members are being evacuated from their lodge by the government..

This is for the bobos who might have dated a babe that had it going on as in well loaded and beautiful and she blew his mind. She is a winner and he knew it. He dated her for a while and then suddenly her phone calls slowed down, visits started to slow up as well. Finally, she disappeared as if she were a wet dream that never happened. Here are 5 reasons why you were not hubby material and she had to hammer at you with a six inch nail. Sure we might let you take us out a time or two but we will never, and I repeat never be a couple. Think of it in the same way that men do. When they deal with a woman they decide how far they want the relationship to go. They may feel that she is not of wifey caliber. Sure he might still have sex with her but he will never take her seriously.

The disappointing aspect is that many of these guys do have some kind of potential. They really do. But it would take a life time and a lot of blood sweat and tears to dig it out of them. Who the hell has time for that? Not a woman with a good head on her shoulders and much more to offer than her fat ass. “Well , why even deal with him at all then?” Well there a lot of reasons why women deal with men who they would never date seriously. They could just want male companionship, he could be yummy eye candy, or the sex could be ridiculously, orgasmically good. Yep. It is that kind of party. Finally, finding compatibility, love and dating is a dirty game. It is never a clear and easy path for either sexes. That is only for the movies. Grab hold of my hand precious. S**t is about to get real people…...

1. You Have No Life Plan

A chick with a good head on her shoulder does not need and damn sure shouldn’t want a man with no plans for the future, no visions and thinks life is but a dream or even worse. A party. You might slow up her grind. That is something that she cannot risk. So sure, we might hang here and there, but you will never be daddy. TGIF is your life plan

2. You Lack Maturity

This is for the guys who you might deal with here and there and every time you talk to them, they are STILL on the same crap that they were on when you talked to them a year ago. There are no new developments in his personal life, business-wise or internally. The problem with him is that he is not necessarily a bad guy but he still walks around like its 1999 and he is still 18 years old. He lacks maturity and refuses to grow. What a bore.

:

3. I think you are a Dog

I know that the rules differ for men and that most men are more experienced than their girl but if I get the sense that you are an all out slut basket and would bone my Mom if she threw it at you, then I will never let you put your penis inside me. Meanwhile, you can still take me out to dinner a few times. Yeah I know it sounds mean but hell, a sista gotta eat.

4. I think You Are Dumb

So sad. A lot of attractive guys are not that smart. The issue is that they focus too much time on their outer appearance and not enough time on their inner growth. Sure they may stimulate me physically but beyond that, there is not even a fizzle. I hate being on a date with a guy and having to dumb it down as Lupe Fiasco would say. Why? For the sake of you and I communicating? If I speak too educated, or talk about topics other than rap, or basic hood living then it will go over your head. Dumbing yourself down for the sake of a man is exhausting! I have tried! Frankly, no one’s love is worth you not being you. My advice is that if you have to deal with a dumb guy because he is just too tasty not to, know that he is as dumb as a box of rocks and go in with the intention that things will not go farther than a few dates. Beauty is temporary but dumb is forever. A lot of what makes an already physically attractive man even more attractive is his conversation. Challenge me mentally.

5. All You Have To Offer Is Sex

The sex might be fun for a while for the both of us, but when I am ready to settle down, and find my hubby and or future husband you will not be in my choices. It is already clear to me that your biggest asset is between your legs. Although that might have a chick head sprung for a short time, it will not be enough to keep her.

Have you ever found yourself in a relationship where the frustration level and the number of times you butt heads with each other seems to increase by the second? You say blue, she says red, and the fights just seem to be going in circles.
If the answer is yes, then you may be at what I call "the breakup point." Here are five signs that your relationship may be past the point of fixing. Whether you are living together, married, or just dating, these breakup signs are usually loud and clear.
1. You stop relationship-building behaviors. In the honeymoon stage of a relationship, which we all know is the first 90 days of pure bliss, you are learning about each other and making efforts to create romantic moods and nice evenings. When you're in that stage, you are really working at building your relationship. Then, at some point, you start to butt heads with each other. Critical relationship elements deteriorate. Maybe you stop kissing each other goodbye or stop texting each other during the day. Instead of adding things to the relationship, you start to resent each other like two five-year-olds who stop sharing their crayons. This is a breakup point.

2. You don't understand each other anymore. The fighting escalates to a place where you no longer feel like you're understood by your partner. Physical intimacy stops, communication stops, and you are living like roommates. You're at the point in the relationship where you are trying to understand each other, but you get so frustrated because you feel like you just don't understand each other anymore. This is a breakup point.

3. You start punishing each other. When you get to the point of no longer understanding each other, what happens is that you end up just kind of coexisting in the new dynamic. Resentment builds and you get in your head too much. You are no longer about feelings, and you start punishing each other. "Well, he hasn't done this for me, so I'm not going to do this for him" are the kind of thoughts that take root. The longer you stay in that dynamic and the further away you get from the dynamic you had during the early part of the relationship, the less likely it is that you'll ever get it back (and, after a point, you won't). You have hit the breakup point.

4. You fight less. When you get to the breakup point, you actually fight less with your partner. You fight less because in your mind and heart you start detaching yourself from the other person, and you don't care as much anymore. You have already made a determination that they don't understand you, that they will never understand you, and that the relationship just won't work out. The minute you get into a fight, you just walk away from it. That is a sure sign that you are at the breakup point.

5. You've taken the time to think it through. When you think you might have hit that breakup point, you must tell the person that you're disconnecting from them. You need to be honest and raw. If you don't think the relationship is going to work, or you know you've already disconnected based on how things have been going, then you might want to consider walking away for a week. When you're in the thick of things, they never seem to be able to work out.
So take a break. Spend a week without your partner. Take the week to ask yourself some questions. Go visit some friends or family. Really think about what life would be like without that person. How would you feel? Then, go back and either take a stand for the relationship or break up.
Whichever decision you make, you need to be honest with yourself. Life is too short! There are a lot of wonderful, amazing people out there ready to meet you.

Much has been written about the promise of HTML 5, the next generation of the web’s lingua franca, but so far, despite the potential, there are very few real world websites using the proposed standard. Apple’s recently released Safari 4 beta, however, supports much of the HTML 5 spec, and the demo page for Safari 4 makes heavy use of HTML 5, offering a glimpse of what the web might soon look like. The Safari 4 intro page (link requires Safari 4 beta) uses both the new audio and video tags to embed media and also makes heavy use of CSS 3 for layout, styling and animation. The result is a considerably leaner page than you would see were it written in HTML 4 — gone are the lengthy embed and object tags for video content, and sophisticated animations happen without Flash, JavaScript or other auxiliary tools. And that means the page loads faster and gobbles up less memory in the browser.Unfortunately the Safari 4 intro page also highlights the biggest problem with HTML 5 — so far browser support for HTML 5 tools is limited, and the page only works properly in the Safari 4 beta.HTML 5 represents the biggest leap forward in web standards since the current (4.01) specification, which was completed in September 1999. That’s a good thing, but it also means browsers have quite a bit of work to do before HTML 5 starts appealing to web developers.Opera and Safari have been pioneering HTML 5 support for some time, but Firefox and Google Chrome aren’t quite as far along with their HTML 5 support (although the coming Firefox 3.5 will close the gap considerably). Internet Explorer 8 is somewhat further behind, though it too incorporates a few HTML 5 features.Still, given HTML 5’s lofty ambitions — to bring the web to maturity as a full-fledged application platform, a level playing field where video, sound, images and animations are all standardized — it might be quite a bit longer before we see sites start to adopt the new features. So while the future may not be here just yet, HTML 5 will go along way to simplifying to task of creating sophisticated web pages. In the mean time, novelty pages like Apple’s Safari 4 intro offer a tantalizing glimpse of what the future of the web will look like.Read More http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2009/03/apple-shows-off/#ixzz0eGq46tSv

Shell cuts 5,000 jobs as profits tumble

Oil major, Royal Dutch Shell Plc, said it is cutting 5,000 jobs to deal with the harsh economic environment. The cut is part of a larger "Transition 2009" restructuring programme. It envisages that 10 per cent of the company's 102,500 global workforce will be affected."We continue to focus on improving our competitive cost position, simplifying Shell, and increasing personal accountabilities. The Transition 2009 programme, which I announced earlier this year, is progressing well, and will be completed by the end of 2009. Some 5,000 employees are leaving Shell as a result of these changes. This represents around 10 per cent reduction in employees in the redesigned divisions and corporate functions," Peter Voser, Shell's new chief executive said in a statement on the company's website.Peter Voser Shell's new CEOImpact on Nigerian personnelBut it still remains unclear how much the job cuts will affect Shell Nigeria operations. Shell spokesperson in the country was yet to respond to enquiries about the impact of this on the local workforce as at press time.More than a thousand Shell workers in Nigeria have lost their jobs since the violence orchestrated by militants against the oil industry escalated in 2006. The company is worst hit by the militants' assault. The oil giant's onshore output currently stands at 120,000 barrels per day, down from about 300,000 barrels per day before the violence increased in the Niger Delta.Global operationsThe Anglo-Dutch oil giant reported that its quarterly profit fell sharply, and warns that the outlook remains "very uncertain".The company said profit for the three months to September, fell 73 per cent to $3 billion compared to $8.45 billion in the same period of last year.Shell said its oil and gas production for the third quarter was 2.9 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, similar to the same quarter last year.Excluding one-off and non-cash items, the result was $2.62 billion, slightly ahead of an average forecast of $2.55 billion according a Reuters poll of eight analysts."We see some indications that energy demand and pricing are improving, but the outlook remains very uncertain, and we are not expecting a quick recovery," Mr. Voser said on Thursday, in a statement. The results and pessimistic outlook contrast with third quarter earnings from London-based international oil company, BP Plc, which smashed forecasts by 50 per cent, lifting sector shares on Tuesday, on hopes the industry would weather the economic slump better than expected. They also follow renewed fears the global economic recovery may be more protracted than some had thought, a factor which weighed on crude prices on Thursday.Shell's London-listed A shares traded down 3.0 per cent at 1,853 pence early Thursday, while Eni's shares dropped 3.1 per cent to 17.02 Euros against a 1.0 per cent drop in the DJ Stoxx European oil and gas sector index. The same for EniItalian oil giant, Eni, also warned of a slow recovery, highlighting weak energy demand and operational challenges, as their profits slumped. The Milan-based Eni predicted European demand for natural gas and fuels will continue to shrink, and said it is cutting its production target for the year.Eni's third-quarter adjusted net profit, which also strips out inventory gains and non-operating items, fell 60.5 per cent to 1.15 billion Euros.

Not fewer than 5 people were feared dead in Owode-Langbasa Aja area of Lagos State, after eating yam flower popularly known as Amala, in anticipation to begin their Ramadan fast in the early hours of Friday. we gathered that one of the victims after consuming the toxic amala died on the spot while others gave up the ghost on the way when good Samaritans were trying to take them to the hospital for revival. Over 20 others were rushed to different hospitals, while some were placed on danger list at Akodo general hospital of Lagos State. Family members, friends and sympathizers waiting endlessly outside the hospitals, while medical experts are still trying to safe the lives of those victims who are still alive. The black Friday had about 25 Muslim faithful who gathered at the residence of a prominent Islamic philanthropist in Aja at the early hours of Friday for Ramadan prayers, which has often been the practice for 5 years. But little do they know that untimely death would take its wrath on them after eating the amala meal. Some of the surviving victims who are still groaning in pains in the hospitals shared their ordeal. ‘‘Immediately some us ate that food we went back to sleep and all of a sudden I saw others groaning in pain someone even died instantly, then I began to feel uncomfortable, I quickly drank palm oil and I dipped my hand in my throat and I threw up, and here I am now still battling with survival, the pain is too much.’’ Also, the woman that prepared the food who was also a victim of this food poison lying at the hospital bed, said she bought the flour at Mushin market in Lagos and that she could not understand what actually went wrong. Although the people in the area have denied any foul play over these ugly and unprecedented misfortunes. The hospitals key medical personnel Dr Tunde Palomeras and Dr Imosimi Donald confirmed that it was a case of food poison and that they will deploy all necessary resources and expertise to ensure that no further lost of life is recorded. One will recall that a bizarre Poisonous killer beans in 1996 was reported in Lagos, when vendors claimed the reports carried in the press, are a plot to reduce the price of the commodity, which is the main source of protein for poor Nigerians. But most people in the three south-western states of Lagos, Ogun and Oyo stopped the consumption of beans that time. Amala is one of Nigeria’s staple food and it’s a cherished delicacy among Africans and other parts of the world, especially when it goes with the right soup, but with this latest unfolding pattern where it now mysteriously claims lives, no one knows how safe the next meal of amala could possibly be, only God can tell.

As a crucial meeting between the the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido, and CEOs of the nation’s banks is ongoing, industry sources have disclosed that the sack of CEOs and management staff of five major Nigerian banks is the “CBN now acting in its full capacity”. “What has happened is that these banks have not kept to the stipulations of corporate governance. There is no bank that is not exposed, but these sacks are likely about gross marginal exposure, to just a few corporate entities and individuals,” disclosed one of our sources, a top executive with a new-generation bank. Another disclosed that police officers are currently on the premises of headquarters of all five banks affected, showing the hard-line stance that the CBN has adopted over reviving the sector; “continued failure of regulation and risk management of the nation’s financial institutions and the effects on banks is at the front-burner of this meeting, which is why no representatives have been allowed.” It was also revealed that CEO of Bank PHB, Francis Atuche, was one of several executives who hurriedly booked flights in and outside of the country to attend the meeting. Advising shareholders not to panic, the bank official said that the Central Bank of Nigeria’s motives were well-intended. “These bankers have most likely been sacked because the government plans to re-inject funds into the banks, and to do so, they will have to oversee its management until the bank is on its feet again. It could have been worse, had the mismanagement been allowed to snowball into the beginnings of a financial crisis quite like that seen in the West.” He added that this situation was not an industry first. “You will recall that Wema bank had management and shareholders’ funds misappropriation issues and the CBN stepped in, put it in receivership temporarily until it stabilised. Why there is an uproar is the calibre of people, and top-tier banks involved. Sadly, anyone sacked will never work in a financial institution; that is the law.” Confirming that calls had been made by concerned bankers and shareholders across the nation’s 23 banks on the need for the CBN to clarify the situation, our source said: “until the CBN makes a categorical and detailed statements explaining its actions and the consequences to the Nigerian public, developments like this can in no way help the stock market. I cannot confirm the actual values right now but shareholder value is decreasing even as we speak.” 5ive down ONE more to Go WHO ? Chemical Ali the boss of all the bosses .

Stars From 'The Terminator': Then & Now   May 22nd, 2009 Christian Bale in 'Terminator Salvation' Backstage meltdowns aside, we're excited to see "Terminator Salvation." The fourth film in the "Terminator" franchise (now released 25 years after the original) looks like it's going to live up to its predecessors in terms of post-apocalyptic plot and state-of-the-art visual effects. But it fills us with nostalgia for the cast of the first three films and makes us wonder, "Where are they now?"See "The Terminator" Stars Through the Years >>Arnold Schwarzenegger Arnold Schwarzenegger: Then T-800 in "The Terminator," "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," and "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines"The bodybuilder-turned-actor had pretty much only appeared onscreen with an oiled chest or a loincloth before he was cast in the title role of "The Terminator." That one film launched an epic action star and gave us one of the greatest tag lines in movie history. Say it with us: "I'll be back." And he was -- for two "Terminator" sequels -- the only actor to appear in all of the first three films.Arnold Schwarzenegger Arnold Schwarzenegger: Now The Terminator is now the Governator. The Republican took office in California following a recall election in 2003 and was re-elected in 2006. There are rumors of a Senate run in 2010, but Arnold's Austrian birth precludes him from a bid for the Oval Office, barring any significant (and once-rumored) changes to the Constitution. In the meantime the movie star hasn't given up acting altogether. While running the state and balancing budgets, Arnold found time to make an appearance in 2010's "The Expendables," written, directed by, and starring his pal Sylvester Stallone along with fellow action stars Jet Li and Dolph Lundgren.Corey Feldman Linda Hamilton: Then Sarah Connor in "The Terminator," "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," and Terminator Salvation (voice only)After a string of TV appearances, including the soap "Secrets of Midland Heights" and a starring role in the cult classic "Children of the Corn," Linda Hamilton became a silver-screen success in "The Terminator." Between "T1" and "T2" she scored on the small screen as well with her Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated role of Catherine Chandler on "Beauty and the Beast." She left the series in 1989 and, we can only imagine, spent all her time pumping iron -- lots of it -- to get those incredibly cut arms she sported in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." All the hard work paid off: Linda took home two of pop-culture's highest honors, the 1992 MTV Movie Awards for Best Female Performance and Most Desirable Female.Linda Hamilton Linda Hamilton: NowLinda's worked consistently since her "Terminator" films but has yet to enjoy another major success (and before you start posting your comments, NO, we do not consider "Dante's Peak" a success). Her most intense dramatic role in the '90s, however, was the one she played in her divorce from director James Cameron. The two had met while filming "T1," worked together again on "T2," and were married in 1997. He even offered her a part in a little film he was working on called "Titanic." But she turned down the part of Molly Brown, and it went to Kathy Bates instead. Maybe if Linda had been on the set every day her marriage wouldn't have hit an iceberg in the form of Suzy Amis (who played Lizzy Calvert in the film). When Hamilton learned of her husband's affair, she filed for divorce. Her settlement was of titanic proportions: roughly $50 million.Michael Biehn Michael Biehn: Then Kyle Reese in The TerminatorMichael Biehn had been steadily climbing the Hollywood ladder for seven years, with appearances on "James at 15" and "Family" and film work in "The Fan" and "The Lords of Discipline." But he got his big break in '84 as the hero in the mega-action flick, "The Terminator." He would surely be the breakout star. After all, he was the handsome good guy, and the other dude, who played the villain, was some bodybuilder/cult-movie actor with an unpronounceable name and only 17 lines of dialogue. And yet 25 years later we had to struggle to remember Michael Biehn's name. And Arnold -- well, he doesn't even need that unpronounceable surname any more.Michael Biehn Michael Biehn: NowBiehn followed "Terminator" with roles in James Cameron's "Aliens" and "The Abyss" and a few more movies before turning to TV. There he seemed to land one short-lived series after another, including "The Magnificent Seven," "Adventure Inc.," and "Hawaii." All the while he never quite found that next big role. We're not sure if any of his upcoming films will help him break back into the mainstream, but with parts like Policeman in "Young Americans" and Detective Marling in "Psych 9," we have our doubts.Edward Furlong Edward Furlong: Then As John Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment DayFurlong was not an aspiring child star when casting director Mali Finn noticed him at the Boys Club of Pasadena and asked if he'd like to audition for the new "Terminator" movie. Nonetheless, he won the role of John Connor and seemed to be on the path to big-budget movie superstardom.Edward Furlong Edward Furlong: Now After "T2," Furlong took parts in indie and edgy films like "Pecker" and "American History X," avoiding the big-budget blockbusters that had thrust him into the spotlight. Although he was considered to reprise John Connor in "T3," he turned it down. Eddie hasn't stopped working, but that hasn't kept him out of personal trouble. Known to have drug and alcohol problems, Furlong has had several run-ins with the law, including two separate DUI incidents in 2001 and an arrest in 2004 for drunkenly trying to remove lobsters from a Kentucky grocery store in the name of animal rights.Robert Patrick Robert Patrick: Then T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgment DayUnless you were a big fan of "Warlords of Hell," "Killer Instinct," or "Future Hunters," you probably hadn't heard of Robert Patrick before "Terminator 2." But he'll go down in movie history as the first guy to really morph before our very eyes (OK, we know the first morphing was done in "Willow" and that Cameron used the effect in "The Abyss"; settle down, visual effects fans), back and forth between a lock-jawed cop and a shiny silver snake. He didn't say much. He didn't need to. His steely stare was chilling.Robert Patrick Robert Patrick: NowRobert's appeared in two or three movies a year since his "T2" breakthrough, including "Rosewood" and "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle." He was also a regular on the TV series "The X Files" and "The Unit." Busy guy. This year will be no different: he's got four movies slated for release, including "The Men Who Stare at Goats" and "Freedom for Joe."Nick Stahl Nick Stahl: Then John Connor in Terminator 3: Rise of the MachinesThe 24-year-old Stahl was already a veteran actor when he was cast as John Connor in "Terminator 3." From his first gig in the TV movie "Stranger at My Door" at age 12 to his first acclaimed performance, alongside Mel Gibson, in "The Man Without a Face," to his Screen Actors Guild nomination (Best Ensemble Performance) for "In the Bedroom," Stahl was without a doubt a promising young actor. So it's not surprising that he beat out more high-profile young stars like Shane West for "T3."Nick Stahl Nick Stahl: NowStahl followed his "T3" turn as a series regular on HBO's cult-classic series "Carnivale." He went on to a string of movies, including "Sin City" and "My One and Only," and has six films due in 2009: "In NorthWood," "Kalamity," "Burning Palms," "The Speed of Thought," "Everything Will Happen Before You Die," and "The Chameleon."Claire Danes Claire Danes: Then Kate Brewster in Terminator 3: Rise of the MachinesMaybe it was her role as introspective teen Angela Chase on "My So-Called Life" or her turn as Juliet to Leonardo DiCaprio's Romeo in Baz Luhrmann's ultra-hip retelling of the ultimate Shakespearean romance, but we were shocked when Claire Danes was cast in one of the biggest action movies of all time. We know she'd played an undercover cop in the film adaptation of "The Mod Squad," but could she compare to the ultra-tough everywoman, Linda Hamilton? Big shoes to fill, but she did just fine.Claire Danes Claire Danes: NowAfter "T3," Danes returned to more subdued roles, such as Mirabelle in Steve Martin's quirky love story "Shopgirl" and Julie Morton in the Sarah Jessica Parker Christmas tale, "The Family Stone." Off-screen her life was far more interesting. First she dated Aussie indie darling Ben Lee for almost six years (before he went on to marry Ione Skye). Then she got wrapped up with her "Stage Beauty" co-star, Billy Crudup. That would have been OK, but Billy was living with his pregnant girlfriend, Mary-Louse Parker, at the time, and he left her just two months before their baby was born to be with Claire. But in a perfect turn of celebrity love karma, Danes dumped Billy for her "Evening" co-star, Hugh Dancy. This seems to be the end of Claire's love rollercoaster -- she and Hugh were engaged in February.Kristanna Loken Kristanna Loken: Then T-X in Terminator 3: Rise of the MachinesLoken's stunning good looks landed her a slew of TV guest spots ("Law & Order," "Lois & Clark," and "Just Shoot Me!" to name a few) and roles on shows like "Unhappily Ever After, "Mortal Kombat: Conquest," and "D.C." But that one big film part had eluded her, until she was cast as the Terminatrix in "Terminator 3."Kristanna Loken Kristanna Loken: ThenAfter "T3," Loken returned to her TV roots as a regular on "Ring of the Nibelungs," "Painkiller Jane," and "The L Word." But she heads back to the big screen in two very different movies this year: the comedy "The Legend of Awesomest Maximus," co-starring Will Sasso and Ian Ziering, and the drama "Darfur," co-starring another "Terminator" alum, Eddie Furlong.James Cameron James Cameron: Then Director of "The Terminator," "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," James Cameron had only written and directed one film prior to "The Terminator," a low low-budget (we're talking $20,000 low) short called "Xenogenesis" that was allegedly funded by a group of dentists. Hey, if four out of five dentists recommend this guy, who wouldn't give him a shot at a big action movie? But shockingly, "T1" wasn't that big of a financial risk. The film cost only $6.4 million to make and went on to earn almost $80 million worldwide. Now that would put a smile on any studio executive's face.James Cameron James Cameron: NowCameron has gone on to become one of the most innovative and financially successful directors of all time. He pushed the visual effects boundaries not only in the "Terminator" franchise but also in such films as "Aliens" and "The Abyss." And his 1997 epic, "Titanic," still holds the #1 all-time box office spot, with a $1.8 billion take despite the onslaught of "Lord of the Rings" and "Harry Potter" movies that have vied for the position. There are also high hopes for Cameron's next sci-fi blockbuster, "Avatar," currently in post-production and due out December 18.

An estimated 5 million Nigerians have, so far, died as a result of being infected with the deadly Hepatitis B virus, while 19 million others have also been infected. A medical expert, Dr Ipalibo Wokoma disclosed this in Port Harcourt during a one-day workshop organised for journalists in Rivers State by the Society for Gastroenterology & Hepatology in Nigeria (SOGHIN). In a presentation titled “Are You Number 12,” Dr Wokoma said one, in 12 people, worldwide, are infected with Hepatitis B or C. Wokoma, who decried the low level of awareness on the Hepatitis B and C virus in the country, revealed that the disease is 50-100 times more infectious than HIV. Like Hepatitis B, Dr Wokoma emphasized the Hepatitis C is also a silent killer as people live with the viruses for many years without significant symptoms or knowing they are infected. According to him, “the Hepatitis B virus is spread through direct contact with infected blood as well as most major body fluids while Hepatitis C is spread through direct contact with infected blood,” pointing out some of the symptoms to include nausea, fatigue, aching muscles and joints, poor concentration, loss of appetite, among others. Wokoma disclosed that if left untreated or discovered too late, the disease could lead to liver cancer, transplant or untimely death, advising that people should get tested. “There is a simple test – generally a blood test – for both Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. If you are diagnosed with Hepatitis B or C, you will face many challenges, but it is better to confront the disease head on, know how to avoid transmitting the infection and consider your treatment options and self management strategies,” he advised. He revealed that SOGHIN, a professional body made up of Nigerian physicians, surgeons, pathologists and allied health professionals, has chosen May 19, the World Hepatitis Day to raise awareness of the disease among the populace.
