  • It is noteworthy that 50% of the only women (all grandmothers) in the senate failed to turn up, abstained or failed to register to vote. They were clearly told by boy Friday yerima that for Islamic reasons the clause should be kept!

  •  Please find the telephone of these senator and query them through text and calls.

VVF is an abnormal fistulous tract extending between the bladder and the vagina that allows the continuous involuntary discharge of urine into the vaginal vault.
In addition to the medical sequelae from these fistulas, they often have a profound effect on the patient's emotional well-being.
Causes[edit]

It is often caused by childbirth (in which case it is known as an obstetric fistula), when a prolonged labor presses the unborn child tightly against the pelvis, cutting off blood flow to the vesicovaginal wall. The affected tissue may necrotize (die), leaving a hole.
Vaginal fistulas can also result from violent rape. This injury has become common in some war zones, where rape is used as a weapon against female civilians. As a result, some health centers in countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo have begun to specialize in the surgical repair of vaginal fistulas.

The Delta State governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, yesterday stressed the need for increased funding for the police, especially during the electoral processes, saying the reported N17 billion allocated to the Nigeria Police Force for the purpose of monitoring the conduct of the forthcoming April elections was inadequate.

Mr. Uduaghan made the criticism at the opening ceremony of a two-day national conference on partnering the police for free, fair, and credible 2011 elections, organised by the management of Vanguard Newspapers in collaboration with the South-South governors in Asaba, capital of Delta State.

According to the state governor, the call to increase funding to the police was as a result of its key role in all the stages of electoral processes in the country, which he noted was as important as that of INEC in ensuring free, fair, and credible elections...

He observed that as a result of concerns about the success in the forthcoming general elections, the National Assembly has always considered speedily the budget and demands of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Asking for more

"I think INEC has the fastest budget ever passed by the National Assembly members in the history of Nigeria. This means that funding is required for the conduct of successful elections," Mr. Uduaghan said.

"I also believe that police require appropriate funding if we want to achieve violence-free, fair and credible elections in 2011 and beyond. What I read in the newspapers, I don't know if it was correct, that the federal government approved N17 billion for the police for the purpose of elections monitoring.

"If that is correct, then it is underfunding of the police for this coming elections. If it is N17 billion for the police to cover the whole Nigeria for the purpose of the April general elections, I want to say that money is not enough and not adequate.

"Except it is officially allowed or permitted that the states have to do something. I want to appeal that we should have a second look at the money budgeted for the police," Mr. Uduaghan said.

He said the logistics need for the police is quite high, and called on government to find a way to assist the police in meeting its expectations for the polls.

The publisher of Vanguard Newspaper and chief facilitator of the event, Sam Amuka, said Nigeria had an unpalatable history of democracy resulting from disputed elections results.

He observed that the imperfections in the nation's electoral process has degenerated since the 1999 political dispensation, especially with the "do or die" syndrome that was built into the 2007 general elections, adding that the process led to political war between candidates of different political parties.

The conference was aimed at identifying causes of violence during elections in the country.

condemn the use of corpers:

Politicians at a stakeholders election forum organised by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Asaba, Delta State, have cautioned against plan that could turn youth corps members as sacrificial lambs in the forthcoming April polls.

They  also called on the Federal Government to double the strength of the police force in order to effectively man polling units, which in the  past witnessed ballot snatching and changing of results.

Leading the campaign for INEC to reconsider its stand on the use of  corps members, Delta north senatorial candidate for All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), Ambassador Elizabeth Ogbon-day, said the corps members would be exposed to great risk in an environment they were not familiar with and that when pressure mounted on them, they could compromise their integrity.

According to her, the corps members would be exposed to more dangers in the light of a poor security arrangement where the few unarmed policemen at the voting centres would not be able to match the horde of thugs and other political rascals.

Ogbon-day recalled the January 6 rerun election in the state  at her community, Ogoni in Olomu clan where corps members used as INEC officials had to obey instructions from thugs in order to remain alive.

Another speaker maintained that in case of litigation after election, the  corps members used for election would not come to testify at tribunals.

The participants were of the view that INEC should purge itself in the discharge of its duties, because people, including the international community were watching.

Earlier, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Delta State, Dr. Gabriel Adah, said INEC had resolved to use corpers in the election and that any who fumbled would have their services extended.

According to him, two corpers who faked their kidnap and others who were involved in fraudulent practices in the re-run election in the state in January  had their services extended by six months.

However, he commended some corpers who returned to INEC as much as N20,000 given to them as gratification by politicians to do their bidding.

Dr. Adah disclosed that any polling unit where ballot boxes were snatched or the number of votes cast exceeded the number of accredited voters would be cancelled and a fresh election conducted after two days, all to sanitise the electoral process.

12166303684?profile=original“Many bad things have been written about me, but this one is written with such malice and deliberate intent to hurt that I cannot ignore it. You need to read the reports; it was written in such a way that you would know the writer is cooking up lies. My lawyer has written them, I am taking the paper to court,” these were the words of Funke Akindele at her new residence in the heart of Ikeja.

A soft-sell magazine had written that Funke Akindele was allegedly raped during a robbery incident on location of Omo Ghetto (part two) and that she had become so arrogant that she slaps people at will on location.

But in refuting the story, Funke and her management company, Stingomania Entertainment, said the story was not true and that the writer wrote with deliberately intent to malign the star.

“The robbery took place on location where lots of people were present, and if I were raped the people in the house next to the hotel, who were looking at us while the robbery was going on, would have known. It would have been a common knowledge, I don’t know why a newspaper reporter would just sit down and fabricate such a lie,” Funke said...

Chief Executive Officer of Stingomania Entertainment, Ope Banwo, said a letter had been written and sent to the magazine through its lawyer and the magazine’s response would determine the next step. “This impunity against celebrities cannot continue, it has to stop,” he said.

Meanwhile, Funke has concluded work on The Return of Jenifa, a movie she said would dwarf whatever height Jenifa reached. “You need to see The Return of Jenifa,” she said after showing this reporter a promo copy. “We didn’t spare cost or efforts, this project will make my past jobs look like child’s play.” With sparkling location shots that had not been seen in her previous works, the actress, who is a Lagos indigene, might be aiming at another box office.

The movie would be in the cinemas from August, but before that Funke would be hosting friends, fans and corporate stakeholders to a dinner later this month to unveil her plans for 2011 and appreciate those who have stood by her.

Buhari: What We Did not Know

1) We didnt Vote for him, because we didnt know.12166303073?profile=original

2) We didnt know that he supervised and birthed our only existing refineries.

3)We didnt know that what he did in road construction while in the PTF hasnt beenmatched by 12yrs of the PDP, even though we claimed they were lopsided.

4)We didnt know that in his time ashead of state he reduced inflation from 23% to 4%, by fiscal discipline and a homegrown economic team (not achieved under any other era, even military).

5)We didnt know that there wasno religious crisis while he led.

6)We didnt know that JJ Rawlings ofGhana took over 2yrs before him, and killed all the corrupt leaders, while GMB merely gave his own, long term jail sentences.

7)We didnt know that the hospitals and universities around the country neverwitnessed as much benefits they got from the PTF from any government after or before his time.

8)We did not know, that this man had been in all the oil sectors in Nigeria, has No Petrol Station, much less a refinery or an oil rig like so many of our leaders..

We never voted him, because we did not know.
Now YOU Know…
Join Us today if you want to know more, thediscussions are getting heated
We didn't know that he supervised and birthed our only existing refineries.

But now we know,  We know that he has followership in the north that money can't buy. We know that those who follow him are poor, and follow him out of hope and belief in his values. I have met old men who know him, who have said,  "All I need from Buhari is his word, I can take it to the bank". Now we know that here is someone that has been in everything to make him a Dan-Something, but didn't take the road. We feared he was an Islamic fundamentalist, but he challenged us to provide any human being who can point at anything he did to show the same. His Cook and Drivers,  two roles that can be influenced to have your life are Christians. In his passion for discipline, he has pulled down mosques, punished emirs, and followed principles over the respect of people. Then this year, to the utter shock of the world, he picks the most radically outspoken no nonsense Christian Preacher in Nigeria to be his vice. Now we know, that it's about the values, not religion and certainly not the fact that he becomes the first (correct me if I'm wrong) Nigerian president without multiple wives or an array of concubines.

Now We know that what he did in road construction while in the PTF hasn't been matched by 12yrs of the PDP, even though we claimed they were lopsided.
Now We know that in his time as head of state he reduced inflation from 23% to 4%, by fiscal discipline and a homegrown economic team (not achieved under any other era, even military).
Now We know that there was no religious crisis while he led.
Now We know that JJ Rawlings of Ghana took over 2yrs before him, and killed all the corrupt leaders, while GMB merely gave his own, long-term jail sentences.
Now We know that the hospitals and universities around the country never witnessed as much benefits they got from the PTF from any government after or before his time. Now We know, that this man has been in all the oil sectors in Nigeria, has no petrol station, much less a refinery or an oil rig like so many of our leaders. We never voted him, because we did not know.

What We Know About the Others:

Business mogul Aliko Dangote, telecoms magnate Mike Adenuga and Kwara State Governor Bukola Saraki, among others, yesterday made the campaign team of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Former Director-General of the Jonathan/Sambo campaign organisation heads the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), which will be inaugurated by acting National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Dr Bello Haliru Mohammed in Abuja today.

Also on board are loyalists of former presidential aspirants Ibrahim Babangida and Abubakar Atiku. Atiku lost the party’s ticket to Jonathan at the January 13 convention after Babangida, Saraki and Aliyu Gusau stepped down for him following his emergence as North’s consensus candidate.

He was picked by the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF) headed by  Mallam Adamu Ciroma.

Babangida’s and Atiku’s loyalists may have been appointed in line with Jonathan’s promise to accommodate his opponents in his campaign.

Former Director-General of the Babangida Campaign organisation, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, is a member of the PCC Publicity Committee. He will also serve as one of the resource persons for the presidential campaign.

Saraki is the chairman of the Reconciliation Committee with pro-Atiku campaigner and former Senate President Ken Nnamani as member.

The wife of the leader of the NPLF and PDP’s National Woman Leader, Hajia Ina Ciroma, is also a member of the Reconciliation Committee. Former Governor of Ondo State Olusegun Agagu and former Minister of Information Prof. Jerry Gana are also members.

Others in the committee are Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Alabo Graham Douglas, Senator Ladan Shunni and Ambassador Aminu Wali.

The Publicity Committee also has some prominent publishers including Comfort Obi of the Source Magazine and Dennis Sami of Nigeria Pilot as members.

Names of some aides of the President feature on the list, but former Director of Media of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign organisation, Sully Abu is missing on the list.

Dangote, Adenuga, Femi Otedola, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu, Tony Elumelu, Alhaji Kashim Bukar; Chief Emeka Offor; Alhaji Sayyu Dantata; Jim Ovia; Dahiru Manga and Kola Salako are on the donor’s list.

Former Chairman of PDP’s Board of Trustees (BOT) Chief Tony Anenih will serve as the Campaign Adviser. Former PDP national secretary Chief Ojo Maduekwe is Secretary.

The six geo-political zones will be co-ordinated by governors that did the same job for Jonathan before the January 13 convention.

They are Governors Liyel Imoke of Cross River State (Southsouth), Martin Elechi, Ebonyi (Southeast), Gbenga Daniel, Ogun (Southwest), Gabriel Suswam, Benue (Northcentral), Isa Yuguda, Bauchi (Northeast) and Ibrahim Shema, Katsina (Northwest).

Senate President David Mark, Speaker Dimeji Bankole, Deputy Senate President Ike Ekwerenmadu and the Deputy Speaker Usman Nafada are all expected to co-ordinate the National Assembly for the PCC.

Former Inspector-General of Police Mike Okiro heads the security committee; leading industrialist Oba Otudeko chairs the Finance and Fund Raising Committee.

The Inter-Party Relations Committee to handle affairs concerning parties that adopted Jonathan as their standard-bearer is headed by Chief Ebenezer Babatope.

12166300684?profile=originalThe glamorous lovers’ day celebration on Monday turned bloody at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) when gunmen killed two students. Daily Sun gathered that the clash was between two rival cult groups, namely, Black Axe and the Buccaneers,’ over a female student allegedly snatched by the Capone of the Black Axe for Valentine celebration.

The action of the Capone , the source said did not go down well with the other group leading to the clash.
A student who witnessed the shooting said besides the two cult members who were shot dead, about four others sustained injuries and were ferried out of the campus by their leaders to shield their identity.

The sources said the cult members who carried out the attack were not UNILAG students but members from another campus, adding that the attack was carried out in a commando style with sporadic shooting.
An undergraduate student of English Department told Daily Sun that the Buccaneers’ group attacked the Black Axe members while another student returning from the Mosque said those who carried out the killing were not from UNILAG because they did not cover their faces.

It was learnt that as soon the shooting started, students scampered for safety while others took cover behind the wall and under cars packed around, while others ran into the halls to avoid being hit by stray bullets.
A senior lecturer who confirmed the killings said the university management had met to curtail any reprisal attack while security personnel had taken over the investigation of the deadly cult clash.
When Daily Sun visited the troubled institution yesterday, there was uneasy calm, as most staff and students rebuffed efforts made by the reporters to get their comments.

However, one of the students who resides at Sodeinde Hall, said there was sporadic gunshots outside the premises which caused panic everywhere.
It was gathered that the crisis, which erupted when the students were at the peak of lovers’ day celebration, created stampede on the campus as people ran for safety.

One of the victims of the attack reportedly ran into Sodeinde Hall for help, from where he was taken to the hospital.
Although the Hall Master of Sodeinde Hall declined comments on the issue, one of the officials, who wouldn’t want his name published, said the attack could not be linked to any cult group. He said there was increasing speculation that the perpetrators of the attack could be fighting for love. Efforts made by Daily Sun our reporter to ascertain the identities of the victims were unsuccessful.
The news bulletin of the university, Information Flash (ISSN 08195540) also captured the incident, while assuring the staff and students of the university of adequate security.

“The attention of the universities authorities has been drawn to the incident which occurred in one of the Halls of Residence in the late hours of Monday, February 14, 2011 where two persons were reportedly injured in fracas. The university management has commenced investigation into the unusual incident, in particular at a time when preparation for the first semester examinations due to commence on February 21, 2011 are in top gear. Security has been intensified to ensure safety of life and property on campus. Law enforcement agents have been involved to assist the university in this respect,” it said.
Daily Sun learnt that students are leaving the campus because of the fear of reprisal attack while some parents called their wards on phone to return home until the situation is brought under control.

The Deputy Registrar Information of UNILAG, Mr. Dare Adebisi refused to pick his calls or replied to text message sent to his phone.
When the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Samuel Jinadu (DSP) was called thrice, he promised to contact the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area and did not call back as at the press time....

PDP begs Daniel not to decamp OGD recieves Power Delegation

ABEOKUTA — PLANS by Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State to decamp from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, were put on hold, yesterday, after he was offered a political solution out of the crisis that uprooted his loyalists from the party’s candidates’ list for the April elections..

12166299666?profile=original

From left : Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Mike Oghiadome; Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; member, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustees, Chief Anthony Anenih; and PDP National Secretary, Alhaji Usman Baraje; after a meeting at Governor Gbenga Daniel's residence in Sagamu, yesterday.

PDP’s legendary Mr. Fix It, and erstwhile Chairman of the Party’s Board of Trustees, BOT, Chief Tony Anenih, who led the presidential delegation to Daniel said the Governor remained a PDP member and that he remained a pillar and leader of the party.

Governor Daniel’s standing in the party was equally firmed up by the ruling of a High Court in Abeokuta, which upheld his faction of the party as having the authentic state executive of the PDP.

Fadairo exco elected for four years

The ruling by an Abeokuta High Court presided over by Justice Adetokunbo Jibodu, affirmed that the process by the PDP to remove or dissolve the Joju Fadairo executive linked to Governor Daniel was null as the executive was elected to serve for four years.

He then declared the harmonization of the Ogun State PDP unconstitutional, null and void.

The judgment was, immediately, lampooned as inconsequential by Chief Tunji Olurin, the gubernatorial flag bearer of the party opposed by Daniel.

The Presidential delegation that met with Daniel, yesterday, comprised Anenih, the National Secretary of the Party, Usman Baraje; and the Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan; Chief Mike Oghiadome.

Speaking after the three-hour meeting, Anenih said: “I am a member of the PDP Board of Trustees. I am here to see a PDP Governor. The Ogun State Governor is one of the pillars and leaders of the party. PDP has a way of resolving problems and will resolve this one.”

Daniel clad in a white Buba and Sokoto with a red cap was upbeat with the Presidential delegation, an indication that a political solution to the crisis could be in the offing.

Vanguard learnt that Daniel was supposed to decamp to the Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, where many of his loyalists had already taken positions prior to the deadline given by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the filing of nominations for the elections.

Delivering judgment on the suit filed by the Daniel faction, Justice Adetokunbo said the process by the PDP to remove or dissolve the Joju Fadairo executive was null as they were elected to serve for four years.

He then declared the harmonization of the Ogun State PDP unconstitutional, null and void.
Apparently ecstatic about the judgment, members of the party trooped to the Secretariat on Kobape Road singing victory songs while the Chairman, Chief Joju Fadairo, at a press conference immediately after said it was now clear that “justice delayed can never be justice denied.”

Reacting to the judgment yesterday, Olurin, speaking through his campaign organisation described the purported court judgment as a “mere desperate exercise of no consequence whatsoever.”

The statement signed by Otunba Gbenga Adesanya said: “We received with great amusement the news of the purported court judgment obtained by the Gbenga Daniel/Joju Fadairo group. Our initial reaction was to ignore it. But we decide to respond so as not to allow the dissidents mislead the general public and our teeming supporters.

Judgment of a sinking man

“The so-called judgment is one of the latest antics of a sinking man, clutching at every straw in sight in a vain attempt to stay afloat. One wonders how the so-called judgment from a State High Court could resuscitate an exco that does not exist ab initio.

The National Working Committee, NWC, of the party is yet to reverse its dissolution of the former Joju Fadairo-led exco. The national leadership of the party on Tuesday confirmed its position when it gave our candidates flags to fly the party’s ticket in the April elections. The Federal High Court in Lagos has also restrained the dissolved Joju-Fadairo led exco from parading themselves as officers of the party and from conducting primaries/congresses. They had told the whole world that they were leaving our party. Pray, why do they want to cause more confusion before their exit?

“We make haste to refer them to the advice of the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Legal Affairs, Mr. Phillip Umeadi (Jnr), that in the face of a court order restraining a body or an individual from taking some steps, efforts should be made to either vacate the order or get a superior court to reverse it and not by going to a junior court or a court of co-ordinate jurisdiction.

“We are not in any way distracted as we are in the process of inaugurating the Campaign Committee for the task ahead of restoring our lost glory and returning our dear state to its place of pride.”

“There are currently two different phases of investigations against this man. One has been on-going for some time now, the second one has just begun. Most of the investigations border on fraudulent award of contracts to unregistered companies. Most of the contracts had to do with road contracts and the sale of federal government houses,” a source in the EFCC, who pleaded anonymity said in Abuja.

The spokesman of the anti-graft agency , Femi Babafemi, says that Mr.Lawal is currently in the custody of the commission, however he declined to speak on what possible date the accused will be arraigned. Our source however revealed that the commission is currently working to uncover and arrest other persons who might have collaborated with the former minister. The charges against the former minister are high degree of massive fraud, abuse of office, abuse of government laid down policy on due process and award of contracts to unregistered companies’.Mr. Lawal served as the Minister of Labour and Productivity from 2004 to 2007. president, Olusegun Obasanjo, for the second time in 2010, yesterday called journalists to his Abeokuta home to fault rumours that he was dead. The rumour had gripped Abeokuta and its environs most of Friday.

Photo: Looking Good in Kaftan on New Year's Eve

Speaking with journalists at his Hilltop Private residence in Abeokuta, Obasanjo who jumped up to show journalists that he is hale and hearty, said, “obviously if I am dead, you won’t see me in flesh and blood. I think people take delight in speculation and rumouring.”

He said it was the seventh time since he became the nation’s president in 1999 and even after he left office in 2007 that he would be confronted with such reports.

Mr. Obasanjo, who said it is only God that determines the right time a person dies, recalled how a friend of his called him Friday morning, breaking to him the news of his rumoured death.

“He said he was trying to confirm and that he had counted seven times that l have been rumoured dead since the eve of my inauguration in 1999 as a democratically elected President of Nigeria till today,” Mr. Obasanjo said.

The former president said those who indulge in this will not give up “and those who are superstitious believe that when there are rumours and speculation like this means longevity. Whether longevity or not, what I know is that until the Good Lord who has created me decide to say yes, I have reached my take off point to return to him, people may speculate, people may rumour and that will be their own handicap.

“My words to Nigerians are that wishes are not horses. People’s wishes do not make it to happen. But I know that anybody created is bound to die sometimes. When my time comes, it will not be man that will decide. It is in the hands of God,” he added.

On the controversy over whether he slumped at a ceremony in Ondo State, he said:

“I did not slump, but when I was choked in the church because of lack of air conditioner and fan, I went to my car which had an AC and after staying there for about three minutes, I felt okay and I decided to go to my host house because I have not taken my breakfast. There, I was given two pieces of banana which I ate and I returned to the church. I was shocked three days after reading that I slumped. It is part of the gimmick of selling newspapers.”

Mr. Obasanjo said Nigerians should be thankful for the year ending 2010, adding that the new year promises to be a year of high expectations and divine year for sustenance of unity for all Nigerians

“We all Nigerians should be thankful for the year ending, 2010. I wish all Nigerians, young and old, male and female, every good fortune the year 2011 offers and promise to be a year of high expectations for all Nigerians,” he said.

Former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has said that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) cannot be used by anybody to intimidate or stop him from fighting a just course in which he believes. He said this yesterday while fielding questions from the Lagos State House of Assembly correspondents at the Assembly Complex in Alausa, Ikeja, after inspecting the newly constructed Chamber. Tinubu who was reacting to a recent claim by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) that there is a plan to use the EFCC to intimidate him, pointed out that the commission cannot manufacture a case where there is none.

According to him, “I don’t believe the EFCC is an institution meant to harass, intimidate and embarrass opponent. Till date I am not worried about the shenanigans of these people, I don’t believe the releases of the EFCC and whoever is making them.“They might be under political pressure to do what is untold, but they ought to be careful. And if the President is true to his commitment to this country about the rule of law, definitely EFCC is not even the final court if you ask them to manufacture a case, which I believe not.“But a threat to my life as was published; I am not worried about that. This is not the first time I am facing such a threat. I have been on it since 1991, 1993 and 1994 during the military dictatorship and our crusade to bring democracy to the country was worst”, he added. He also explained that the threat level then was worse than as it is now noting that if the fear is eliminated now, “you cannot achieve a progressive democracy that will last longer in our country.

“Therefore, if our institution building, the right to justice, the crusade for our right is dictated by the amount of weapon and intimidation in possession of anybody, that one cannot determine myself and colleagues from pursuing the crusade for a just society in this country.“So God Almighty is the security for every one of us, I will never be afraid; I will continue my struggle in pursuit for liberty; a right to life; right to justice; right to what is the right of all of us in a democratic dispensation. “If those so-called opponents are becoming a danger and we all become afraid to lead the crusade for full democratization; for true federalism; for justice in our society, then we are finished as a nation. I am not afraid about that, let that be clear to all of you and whoever is contemplating whether it is a rumour or real, I don’t even pay attention to it,” Tinubu said...

The former governor also denied the claim that he has anointed who is to be the next governor of the state. He said “I am not into that, I am not a pastor. I don’t have the anointing oil or the spiritual power. I am just a party leader and leadership is about collective decision process.“We will take our time and you will know through the democratic process. You have the right for endorsement; you have the right to be in position of influence, I am just one of the people who will look at all aspects of governance and if you want to provoke a hint, you can’t get that one from me,” he said.

Rafael Nadal refused to use fatigue as an excuse on Sunday after his incredible year ended in defeat by Roger Federer at the ATP World Tour Finals.

The 24-year-old world number one played one of the matches of the year to battle past Andy Murray in a three-hour semi-final but he found Federer in sensational form as he went down 6-3 3-6 6-1 in one hour 37 minutes.

"I think is not the right moment to talk about that," Nadal told reporters when asked if he was suffering physically against the 16-times grand slam champion.

"The thing is everybody saw the match yesterday, so everybody's free to think his own opinion..

"But I'm not gonna say I lost the match because I was tired. What I'm gonna say and what I feel is I lost the match because I played against a very good Roger Federer on one of his favorite surfaces. When he's playing like this, it's very difficult to stop him. I had chances, but not enough."

Rather than dwell on his defeat, Nadal preferred to look back on a year he described as the most "emotional" of his career.

After going 11 months without a title he returned to form in Monte Carlo in the Spring, winning on the Riviera clay for a sixth consecutive year, and the confidence flooded back.

From then on he was virtually unstoppable, winning the French Open and Wimbledon back-to-back for a second time and completing his career grand slam by winning the U.S. Open.

It was all a stark contrast to 12 months ago at the London finale when he failed to win a set in three matches.

"This was a fantastic week for me," Nadal said. "Beating four top-eight players in the same week on a difficult surface for me. I think that's never happened in the past.

"There have been a lot important moments for me during the season. I think it was a very emotional season.

"There were difficult moments in the beginning, but after a tough time, I was able to play with ambition all the season and I managed to have chances to win and keep winning.

"Once I won the first tournament in Monte Carlo, everything was easier, all the pressure and anxiety left and I started to play really well."

Was favoured singer, D'banj truly beaten blue black by rapper, Ikechukwu Onunaku? This is the question music lovers and fans of the artistes are asking. They should know, however, that the veracity or otherwise of this allegation is akin to the archetype fart in a masquerade garb that must be borne by its bearer, no matter how putrid and pungent.

Some are postulating that if indeed Ikechukwu did not beat up D'banj, what led to his sudden ouster from Mo'Hits with whose members he hitherto enjoyed a cordial relationship?

Since his days as a Storm Records ensign, the 36-year-old rapper had always been a constant fixture in all Mo'Hits musical and social endeavours. When he officially disengaged from Storm, it was assumed that Mo'Hits, helmed by Don Jazzy and D'banj, would be his next label.

This assumption gained grounds when the braggadocious lyricist and founder of World Famous Academy featured the duo in a couple of his songs especially Wind Am Well in his last album. Even his current rave song, Critical, has the lyrical imprimatur of D'banj and the production aplomb of Don Jazzy. So, what went wrong between the two parties? Neither party was ready to go into details but there are undertones of girl-friend snatching among other details.

However, sources close to the label say the issue is far more fundamental and profound than that. Issues got to a head recently when the wave-making label denied that Ikechukwu was their artiste, affirming that he was only a friend of the house. And that set the rumour mill in auto drive.

E-Punch sources disclosed that indeed there was a face-off between the rapper and D'banj but it did not degenerate into fisticuffs...

It could not have because sinewy Ikechukwu is a black belt holder in karate with further expertise in Shotokan, aikido and tai chi. In fact, Ikechukwu was quoted as saying that the closest he got to being physical with his former collaborator was when he used to take him in karate lessons.

With a tone of finality, he says, "Ok, all you rumour mongers, false prophets and bearers of fake gist, I'm gonna say this once, I did not beat up D'Banj, case closed." Even Don Jazzy who is typically taciturn on such matters denied the allegation, saying it could never have happened.

P-Square’s dad visits sons in Lagos for the first time • ‘He apologized for not supporting our musical career’
By Samuel Olatunji

For the first time in 20 years, the father of the popular singing duo, Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as P-Square, has visited his superstar sons in Lagos last week Tuesday to felicitate with them in their new mansion at the Omole, Ogba area.

P-Square

The man, who came with his wife and mother of his six children from Jos was pleasantly surprised to see how far his sons have come. He was said to be skeptical initially towards the choice of musical career of his twin sons, P-Squar

Though he visited Lagos about 20 years ago, he has never been to Lagos since his sons disobeyed him and relocated to Lagos in 2005 to pursue their dreams.

Mr. Okoye was skeptical at the choice of musical career of his four sons, Jude, Tony, Peter and Paul while in the university. Jude was in UNIJOS, Tony was in University of Maiduguri, while Peter and Paul were in UNIABUJA..

Jude initially started as a musician; he even went on to wax two albums while Tony was the dancer among the brothers. It was he who taught P-Square how to dance, while Peter and Paul were dancing and singing.

Their dad stopped paying their school fees and warned them sternly not to call home for any assistance if they relocated to Lagos for music..

‘It was tough initially, but we knew this is what we wanted then, so we decided to move on’, Peter said. Did their father not feel bad after they started enjoying initial success? ‘Our dad apologized to us years ago when we were still at Jude’s house in Maryland. He called and told us that he was uncomfortable that four of his sons left home without asking after him. Then, we weren’t even that successful. He called us to say he was sorry. He wanted the best for us then, but we also knew what we wanted’, he said.

P-Square is a pop duo of twin brothers Peter and Paul and unarguably one of the most success music brands out of Africa. The group recently won KORA’s Africa Musician of the Year Award and the coveted N1 million-prize money. The group was recently signed on as Glocacom ambassadors in a deal that was reportedly worth of N200 million. With hit tracks like Ifunnaya, Busy Body, E no easy, Danger, Game Over, P-Square is definitely a top brand out of Africa.

I did a doubletake when I saw a friend's Facebook status update today : "I like it on the kitchen table." Probably just a private message mistakenly posted as a status update.

Then my sister posted, "I like it on the hall floor," and after a moment of feeling vaguely icky, I knew something was up. So I Googled and, of course, found that it's the latest viral breast cancer awareness campaign taking Facebook by storm. (The "it" is actually where a woman likes to leave her purse/handbag.)

My friend Genevieve likes it on the barstool. My friend Jalade likes it in the car.

Bobos please Get your minds out of the gutter.

They're talking about their purses.

Titillating the Facebook newsfeeds today, women are posting where they like to keep their purses when they come home, but they conveniently leave out the word "purse."

Men are not supposed to know what it means. So stop reading now, men.

The trend follows the January Internet meme in which women posted the color of their bra as their Facebook status.

Both are to raise awareness of breast cancer. October is Breast Cancer Month. (It's also Cybersecurity Awareness Month, but that's another story entirely.)

The question remains whether the viral campaign actually does raise awareness or just raises eyebrows.

One response to a Facebook status: "Woah is right. Overshare."

Update, 10:45 a.m.

Men: Hmph. Some of the not-so-fair sex have complained that this post is sexist as they are forbidden to read past the jump. Others have complained about the actual Internet meme: "Yeah, that's a great way to get men on board with breast cancer awareness month...alienate them."

We suggest going with the flow, men. Men can put purses places these days too.

Oh, and ladies, go take a breast exam..

Some repentant Niger Delta war lords today told President Goodluck Jonathan that they had no hands in the dual bombings that occurred last Friday near a parade to mark Nigeria’s 50 years of independence from colonial rule.

They also condemned the terrorist act and promised to assist security agencies in its bid to nail the perpetrators. Photos:GJ with Dokubo others,"Jomo Gbomo",Former Militants at conference#

The repentant leaders of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) also told President Jonathan that Gbomo Jomo does not exist as a person explaining that it was just a name created which members used to create an email account and subsequently sign statements released to the mass media. It said anyone with access to the password of the email account could email a statement using it.

"MEND is not responsible. We have disarmed. We say to the world, these people claiming they are MEND are impersonating. It is a terrorist act. The people responsible for the act should be dealt with accordingly.

"Jomo Gbomo does not exist. If the person handling the media sector has a problem and another person takes over so far he has the password of the email he can use the name of Jomo Gbomo and cover up as Jomo Gbomo. So, there is nothing as Jomo Gbomo; he does not exist," Ebikabowe Victor Ben aka General Boyloaf told President Jonathan.

About 90 former gunmen on a solidarity visit met with Jonathan inside the Presidential Villa Press Briefing room.

Some of those in attendance included Chief Government Ekpomolo aka Tompolo; Alhaji Mujahidin Asari Dokubo; Ebikabowe Victor aka General Boyloaf; Chief Ateke Tom; Comrade Fara Dagogo; Shoot At Sight; Eberi Papa and Buster Ryme.

President Jonathan told his visitors that: "When this happened, the name of MEND was mentioned and I am happy that you are here because I am from there and I know all the actors and leadership of MEND. I am happy that you have told Nigerians and the rest of the world that it is not MEND that did it.

"I have to thank you again that you have brought the region to limelight. I want to plead with you that even though, like most programmes, we might have hitches, but I want to assure you that the government is actually committed and, by God’s grace most of these hitches will be resolved."

While thanking them for offering to assist government in bringing the perpetrators to judgment, the president said: "I want to thank you for coming to reassure us that you still stand by the spirit of amnesty and work with us. I want to pledge here that we will not disappoint you. We would even work harder to see that amnesty succeeds. We will work with you and men and women from the region."

President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) and head of the delegation Karomema Mabiye, told the gathering which also had Vice President Namadi Sambo that: "We recognise that we live in a political environment at this time and, all sorts of old tendencies will play out and that is why we regret the recent bomb blast that happened on the day all of us were beginning to believe in this country, putting our hearts and minds in making sure that a responsible leadership emerges from this political system. When that bomb blast came, it was a rude awakening, particularly when it affected ordinary Nigerians.

"We want to say it here and to the whole world that the act is condemnable and we unequivocally condemn that act. It is dastardly, it is irresponsible and it is morally reprehensible. We reject such incident and we say that the Niger Delta people are in no way in support of that kind of attitude.

Let it go from here and let it go to the entire world, particularly because we read in the media that it was MEND. All the leaders of MEND and all other organisations and we say that MEND was not responsible for that bomb blast. Our struggle is a responsible struggle; our struggle is a moral struggle; our struggle is struggle for fairness, justice and equity. And the political space that is opening is a new opportunity to engage and it is only when this political process disappoints us that we can then say our confidence has been betrayed.

"But we are sure that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has grown and understood the pains of the people of the Niger Delta and that alone gives us the confidence and courage to go after the opportunity that he provides for us and it is the we can address the issues bit by bit."

Making his contribution, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, founder of another group, The Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF) said: "We may have different political opinion, but that does not mean that we do not know our root. We are not going to sell our patrimony. The platform on which our organisation stands and all other leaders have all spoken in unity and one accord.

"We represent the people of Niger Delta. Our past leaders who have died in the process of this struggle, such as Ken Saro-Wiwa and others, will be turning in their graves that somebody who claims that he is part of us will do that which we have not done. We call on the government to investigate properly and fish out those involved and give out the most appropriate punishment. Let there be no leniency. Whoever is responsible for taking the lives of these innocent people. The action is condemnable. We have the rule of engagement in our organization; we do not kill innocent people; we do not kill women, children, nor kill even an unarmed soldier. We do not destroy properties; we do not pollute fishponds, or cut down economic tree; we do not destroy houses and communities. Anybody who is genuinely in this struggle knows that these are the laws that guide our struggle. It may sound stupid, but this is what we stand for and we will not depart from it."

As residents of Abia State and all Nigerians bask in the euphoria of the release of 15 pupils of a private school in Aba, six students have again been kidnapped in Abia State. The victims are students of Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
It was gathered that the abducted students were going back to school when gunmen ambushed their bus at Ohanze, in Obingwa Local Government Area and took them hostage.

According to the driver of the students’ bus, whose identity could not be ascertained immediately, “when it appeared to the hoodlums that I hesitated to stop, they shot at me and one of the bullets hit my hand and I had to stop. They ordered me out of my vehicle at gunpoint and took the students along with it.”
The driver said the police at Umuobiakwa, in Eastern Ngwa, were alerted when the incident occured, but the matter was not followed up immediately. He said if the police had acted immediately, the abductors would have been tracked down.

Meanwhile, the kidnappers have asked for N2 million ransom. They also threatened to kill the students if their demand was not met and in reasonable time.
Parents of the affected students have appealed to the kidnappers to release their wards so that they would go back to school and resume academic work. They said they had no money to meet the ransom demand.

A Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has called for a debate, on the economy, among all the presidential aspirants on the economy.Photo Atiku ? this man looks like a Hitman sha

Abubakar, a former vice-President, made the call after submitting his nomination form at the PDP national secretariat on Tuesday in Abuja.

The Adamawa State- born politician said the economy should be the main issue in the 2011 election campaigns.

“The issue of economic recovery for Nigeria cannot be a matter of wishful thinking nor of rhetoric. It is a subject for rigorous analyses and provision of well-thought, viable, practicable and sustainable strategy,” he said.

Abubakar said that all aspirants must be able to tell Nigerians how they intended to confront the challenges of the economy and reposition it for the benefit of all at the shortest possible time.

He said, “Of all the aspirants that have declared interest in the presidential election, I consider myself the most qualified to address the daunting economic challenges facing the country.

“I am the only one who has successfully managed a business and you need extensive knowledge of the private sector to combine its potential with the authority of the public sector to address this challenge.”

The former vice-president said his approach to resolving the economic crisis in the country was contained in a 47-page Policy Document he presented on August 15, 2010 while announcing his intention to contest the 2011 presidential poll.

He said, “We are faced with a job crisis of monumental proportions. Unless we evolve strategies to dealing with the teeming population of young people churned out almost on a daily basis, we may risk the destruction of the next generation.

“If we fail to channel the energies of this huge population, they could be a potent force for instability and social unrest.”

Abubakar, however, stunned journalists when he said that he was not aware that the President had declared his intention to vie for the PDP ticket.

“I didn’t see it (declaration). Honestly, I didn’t watch it,” he said.

Twenty seven out of the 28 PDP governors were among thousands of people that attended Jonathan’s presidential declaration at the Eagle Square on Saturday in Abuja. The event was shown live by some public and private television stations nationwide.

On the reported move by some politicians to produce a consensus presidential candidate among the Northern aspirants, Abubakar said, “There is a process for the emergence of a consensus candidate in the North. It shows that North is even more united if “they” agree to bring out a consensus candidate.”

He also said he was not aware of the support that Jonathan was getting from the northern states.

Reacting to the challenge, the Presidential Adviser to Jonathan on National Assembly Matters, Senator Mohammed Abba-Aji, said the President was ready for such a debate.

“We are ready for it (debate) anytime. The President has talked about all the aspects of the economy when he declared. If they want more, we are ready for them,” he said.

Another aspirant, who is also the Kwara State Governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki, also expressed readiness for the debate.

“We are ready for the debate. That is what we have been calling for. Without such an issue-based debate, we will not be able to get the best candidate. Saraki is ready for it,” one of the governor’s aides, Mr. Billy Adedamola, said.
